Hailey, the desk clerk, was friendly and professional. I was able to park right in front of the building. My room was quiet, comfortable, and clean. The bed was comfortable; the TV had a feature to stream from my phone, which was wonderfully modern. Most hotels have outdated TVs that do not allow you to connect your laptop or stream your account. The room was spacious and equipped with a fridge.

The only thing I didn't like was the shower floor, which features black grout with black, polished stones. With a black shower floor, you cannot see if there is mold or mildew. It doesn't feel completely sanitary.

The location is great! Walking distance to Pacific Beach shops and restaurants, crystal pier, and the beach. Just a short ride down the road to Belmont Park and Mission Beach. Very accessible to all San Diego has to offer. The beds are extremely comfortable! We got some of the best sleep. Blackout shades or curtains would help. Parking is included.

The walls are paper thin, so we heard all the street noise and other guests. Thankfully it wasn't too bad during sleeping hours. The bathroom sink drained very slowly. The refrigerator didn't really get cold.

Check in process was smooth. Locked gates and lighting surrounding the building add a nice security feature. Parking was close and convenient. We stayed on the ground floor, so it was reasonably easy to roll our luggage through the property. There isn't a lot of space to keep large suitcases in the room, at least ours was a bit crowded. There was a desk, a dresser, a renovated bathroom, functional tv, remote controlled ceiling fan over each bed, good lighting options, fully carpeted floor except tile in the bathroom. We had no issues with noise. We slept well and found the beds comfortable. Pool is the centerpiece with rooms surrounding. We swam in the pool (in December) and it was fine, too cool in the shade, but kids had fun and the availability of beach towels and loungers was great. Walking distance to the Pacific shore boardwalk and plenty of restaurants. A short drive to Sea World. Great location and very reasonable price.

Great location! Lots of great restaurants within walking distance and the walk to the beach is just a few short minutes. The room was clean and the area was quiet, which I was surprised by, so it was perfect for our needs as a place to rest our heads at night. We weren't really looking for any onsite amenities, but there is a pool and a hot tub. I would definitely stay again.

The water in the shower never got hot, but at best it was a luke warm shower, which felt chilly since we were there at a time when it was mildly cold and damp outside. The front desk didn't seem to be staffed at all times, as we had to call upon arrival, but they did show up before the phone finished ringing. And in fairness, they did call us that day to ask what time we thought we were coming, which was nice, given we were going to be there moreso in the evening. Then, when I went to check out, no one was there, although they showed up a few minutes later.

Very competent, simple hotel in a great location at Pacific Beach, complete with pool and parking.

I previously stayed in the same type of room, but this time instead of actually coffee mugs were plastic cups, and this room had no small coffee table in front of the sofa (I asked about this but did not get an answer). It may be a small thing, but it took a nice "home away from home" feeling while sitting on the sofa drinking a nice mug of coffee, to a sub-par experience drinking coffee out of a disposable cup using a chair as a table -- it would be nice if the hotel staff at least understood that this type of thing does matter. (The staff was great about everything else!)

The Beach Haven was in a great location along Pacific Beach. It was very close to the beach and many restaurants in the area. The pool and hot tub was working which was very nice. The staff was great! No complaints at all! We highly recommend!

Pool hours closing at 9pm and then not opening until 9am felt a bit limiting. The bed was marginal, but acceptable. Overall, no major complaints and we'd stay there again.

The price -- and the value for the price -- is remarkable. You are only a two-minute walk from the beautiful bluffs overlooking the beach and ocean. Plenty of restaurants and food options within walking distance also.

I didn't expect the $15 parking fee. Very reasonable fee, but I don't think it was posted in the Booking.com listing. (Or at least not made obvious).

From the moment I arrived I felt welcomed and taken care of. The property was great. Very quaint, good location, nice pool. The rooms were equally great. Nice set up, had everything you needed. If you are looking for a great place for a good value, a good location with very friendly staff this is the place! My biggest disappointment is that there are two months I am headed here and there is no availability for the dates that I will be traveling here....If I had a choice I would stay here every time. It was so great!

The only not great thing that was resolved, was when I checked in the room had a bit of a smell, but there were ceiling fans and air and once I got all that moving it seemed to go away. I may be due to the age of the property, unsure. But it wasn't awful, just not the most pleasant smell. Otherwise everything else was wonderful.

Shower was broke so wasn't able to shower for 24hrs

First of all San Diego is an expensive place. So while the rpice tag of this motel is not a low one it still is one of the not so expensive options in beach walking distance. When we arrive the reception stuff was gone for a meal, but as they expected us (we ran a little late due to traffic jam) they had left a note for us when they would be back. Appreciated and it was only a couple of minutes wait. The staff was very helpful and friendly, the room was spacy (we had an appartment with kitchen and a seperated sleeping room). The air condition was working nicely and the design of the rooms was surprisingly modern considering typical US hotels. We liked that. We did not use the pool area but it certainly looked nice as well. The beach as well as groceries is easy walking distance, the parking lots (even in the yard and the south side) are big enough not to cause you any headaches. We pretty much enjoyed our stay there.

The plates and forks and knifes and cups in the kitchen are all throwaway plastics. For sustainability we would have preferred real equipment that you clean up yourself before checkout. That much everybody can do for sustainability.
