The owner is great. He remembered that I visited a few years ago and he remembered my name. The room has been recently renovated. My boyfriend and I LOVED the shower and were super impressed with the refrigerator in the room since I usually bring most of our meals with me when we travel. The pillows were good as well. I usually bring my own because you usually get these squishy pillows that just suck! There was a dominos, Ike's sandwiches, Round Table, Sushi, and Mexican restaurant across the street. Safeway is a block away.

The satellite TV unfortunately would cut out every hour so we would be watching a movie and it would go out on us. The hotel only offers Queen beds and I really need a King bed because my boyfriend is 6'3". The room was a little warm but there is a heater/AC unit so that helped bring the temperature down.

very nice staff, clean facilities, nice room with all the amenities. reasonably comfortable bed. all in all a nice place for the price. very convenient across the street from a great coffee shop to walk to in the morning

only downside is how the room is set up. I wish there was a way to use the bathroom sink and mirror without blaring light into the whole room. when my husband was already asleep in bed there was no way for me to use the sink area (brush teeth, remove makeup etc) without lighting up the whole room and disturbing him. the big mirror with the frame light is really cool when you’re both using it, but at night it’s not as practical as having everything inside the bathroom so you can close the door and not disturb anyone washing your hands etc in the middle of the night. for a short stay though, it’s a perfectly fine perfectly nice room.

The owner/manager Ed. He is always around, taking care of the guests and the property. It is not a glamorous motel but very clean and functional. You feel safe, and it was very clean and the amenities provided were of good quality. I like that there are no carpets nor curtains, as these are sources of dust and dust mites, and are usually never washed/cleaned in hotels or even airbnbs. We had a very good experience and would repeat at Sterling Inn Santa Clara!

Occasionally, noises from other guests in the parking lot or cars/trucks on the main street or the refrigerator would wake me up in the middle of the night or very early in morning. Since there are few coffee places close by (less than 5-min walk), it would have been nice to have coffee in the lobby or coffee maker in the room.

This motel is in a great location, recently renovated, and spacious. Checking in was really easy and the owner who was at the front desk was really funny, friendly, and nice. The room was really clean, but the floors were really really creaky, so we felt bad for our downstairs neighbors. Also, beds are ok, not horrible but not super comfy, so I didn't sleep that great. The place was very quiet, and I appreciate that. The price was a good deal for places of comparable ratings and location.

Beds could use an upgrade.

The beds were comfortable, not stiff and not too spongy. Checked the bed for bed bugs and there were none in any of the seems, so very well kept. Bathroom was clean and well stocked with towels. Location has quick access to eateries. Parking lot is in view of every room so you can keep an eye on your car, the parking lot is very nice, which is a cool plus.

The shower doesn’t have a door by design so water splashes out and makes the floor slippery, so place a towel down. No breakfast at the hotel so my friends and I walked to Taco Bell, which is fine because we like Taco Bell breakfast.

I had a really pleasant stay, the room was really big and comfortable, great desk for working, very clean shower and very comfortable bed. The only downside I could find is the lighting; my room was on the ground floor, so letting the blinds open wasn't really an option due to privacy. So the alternative was to use artificial light always, even during the day. That's not great, especially from an environmental point of view, but it's really a minor detail considering how outstanding everything else was. Especially the owner of the motel, really sweet and helpful person, it's a pleasure to encounter people like that.

Ed is great! Helpful. Great location next to Santa Clara University, eateries. Motel-Nice to have the car so close.

This time we got the room with a room above us & it was kinda noisy. We’re early sleepers & above us the guest would come home Late & we could hear every step they made. The walls are thin-we can hear our neighbors getting to know each other more intimately.

Pretty nice room, clean, with all the necessary. We only stayed one night so I don't have much to say. Owner was very nice and waited for us since our plane got there a bit late. The area is also nice with a cute cafe and some nice restaurants to eat. Very close to the Santa Clara train station.

The floor was a bit squeaky and walls a bit thin, so you could hear some noise. Overall it didn't bother me too much.

This was a very basic room with most essentials. It was a good location for my visit--in fact, I left my car in the lot and walked to my destination each day. The office person who checked me in and out was fabulously friendly. He even remembered my name.

A box of kleenex would have been handy. A small coffeemaker would have been great--to me, the difference between "very basic" and "basic" is having a coffeemaker or at least coffee on site. Towels were kinda thin and scratchy, but they worked fine. There was a nub of used bar soap in the wire rack in the shower, but I only ever use my own toiletries and containers so that was only an esthetic issue.

This motel had lovely clean, modern rooms. I’ve never stayed in a motel before but often American TV doesn’t paint the best picture of them so I was very pleasantly surprised! The room was well equipped, with a large TV, microwave, fridge, hairdryer, toiletries and an iron and ironing board. Bed was comfy. Good location, just off the main road and San Jose itself was an easy city to drive around. Very close to Santa Clara university so there are a few nice cafes/lunch places nearby. The man who checked us in (assuming the owner) was very friendly, and allowed us to leave the car at the motel when we arrived some time before checkin.

nothing!
