I stayed one night in Tamarack Lodge in Dec 2024. The hotel pictures are not entirely clear in illustrating the characteristics of this hotel. I chose it because of the limited choices available in terms of price and distant to my destination Mono Hot Springs. The hotel looks old and average from the outside, but to my surprises, the inside is very clean, from the carpet, the blanket, the restroom, and the towels etc. The kitchen is dated but you can tell they try keeping it clean, simple, and functional. I saw comments about the Kitchen being dated and price is slightly high etc. I usually do not write comments but have to do some justices for this hotel, perhaps because the hotel manager is such a nice lady who is kind to me and gave me the best room... But honestly speaking, given the high cost to stay afloat in this area, we should be more understanding and appreciate the opportunities we have to enjoy the beautiful natures around the area such as Mono Hot Springs, Huntington Lake, Shaver Lake, and China Peak Ski resort etc. That said, I believe the price is within reason and I had a good experience there. I hope the information is helpful and I would recommend this hotel to others who has the right expectations. Thank you

The room main door has a stained glass while outside street light is always on that some people may find it's too bright to sleep. A simple curtain will solve this minor issue and hopefully the management takes note of it.

Because of prior ratings, we didn't expect much! But Dawn (in office) was wonderful and really took care of us and our dogs! The kitchen was well equipped, the Bathroom shower was great, tho the sink had a leak if u didn't shut it off right. The heater was very efficient, and the bed was excellent. The room was large, the TV worked as did the wifi. We never used the wood stove. We loved the peacefulness of the area. Thank you, Dawn!

Bathroom sink faucet leaked if u didn't quite turn it right. The whole place was dated, but that didn't affect us at all! Bring your own food, as there isn't anything to eat w/in 12 miles!

Great location, large room, functional fireplace in the room, great electric wall heater too! Bathrooms were clean, kitchen was clean, sheets were clean and staff was friendly.

The only constructive criticism would be the floor could use a good mop. Everything else was great.

A well located, spacious motel-like mountain property.

Price/quality ratio wasn’t there… if you must (based on the US-West coast, that’s as close as you’ll apparently ever get to some hills one might call a mountain…). If you’re based in Europe, it clearly doesn’t match the Alps.

The location was perfect. Beautiful view, plenty of snow for the kids to play in. Management was cool with the kids playing around the hotel in the snow. I really appreciated that.

The parking lot was a little slippery due to ice. But we managed.

The staff was very accommodating. We were coming from 180 miles away and got a late start at 6 pm. We did not get to Tamarack Lodge until 9:45 pm. The staff sent a text that the door to the room would be open and the key would be inside. We had a time to be at the Sierra Marina to meet our fishing boat at 6 am the next morning. Because of the flexibility of Tamarack Lodge, we were able to get there late, sleep fast and make our own breakfast and coffee in the room because of the kitchenette in the room with a fridge and microwave and coffee maker. The sunrise was marvelous. The air was so clean and invigorating. The room was very clean and comfy. Thanks to the 2 queen beds and the rollaway, all 4 of us slept comfortably. And we got a lot of Kokanee salmon and rainbow trout! Shaver Lake is so CLEAN and the water is pristine.

Staff was very friendly and helpful.. location was beautiful. Room was very accompanying. Large bath. Everything we needed was there in kitchen .

It was all what we expected.

I think, it is to a gift shop and small store for food and drink, but I love the location, to enjoy the bespoke the nature and snow for the winter.

Convenient location for winter skiing. Big room and have everything we need to cook.

Staff wasn’t helpful. Didn’t text before checkin time. No one there to help with check in. Knocked on door really long time and finally someone came out with a grouchy face smelled like her was smoking marijuana.

Everything, room is big! Have everything in the kitchen. Comfortable

Wish the heater works better. It turned on but only hot, adjustment doesn’t work.
