The best breakfast in town hands down, is probably the best part. The fact that it’s free is amazing! During the evening the have a cocktail hour which the hors d’oeuvres were amazing as well! A very close second is the staff. Definitely the most friendly staff at any hotel I have ever stayed in. John, the night front desk manager made my whole trip before even arriving. We got stuck in bad traffic on the way, which delayed us about 4 hours. Around 10:00, John called to make sure we were still checking in that evening. After explaining what had happened. He very kindly said don’t worry about it and left the key under the door mat to our room. Which made such a bad drive great! So mega kudos to John and all the staff at Marker 8 Location, Location, Location. The location is fantastic! A short walk across the bridge and you’re right in the heart of St. Augustine. Marker 8 is a very short drive to the beach, 10 min tops. Also it’s right on the river so setting out on the balcony or at the pool and watching the boats come in and out is great. The room was excellent! Very clean and recently updated. The bed was super comfortable you could tell it was a high quality bed and not just a cheap hotel bed. The shower was very nice, With a rain fall shower head and separate movable spray head, perfect for the beach. Awesome view from the balcony of the river and Downtown. There were fresh towels every day and the A/C was very cold.
The only negative part of the whole property is that the elevator is extremely slow. Which is no big deal there’s plenty of stairs. But honestly, next time I stay I would pick a ground floor room, you can park right next to the room and walk right out to the dock. So really, it’s not a big deal at all.

This was our second time at Marker 8. We love the view of the bridge and the city in the morning and at night. The staff during our visit last year, as well as last week, were professional and accommodating. The room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and the "rainfall" shower was relaxing. Breakfast offered a variety of typical breakfast food. We absolutely loved Lee, our server! She is the special kind of person who makes your morning. Please, take good care of her! She is an asset to your team. We would love to see her again next time. 😀
Nothing worth mentioning

The view and location are the top things we liked. Quiet and the other guests were pleasant as well. The breakfast was excellent; best I've had in a "breakfast included" hotel. The breakfast room staff was excellent as well. Any concerns we had were attended to promptly and the staff treated us very professionally. Bed was comfortable as well.
The floors of our room required cleaning, which the managment addressed with housekeeping. The cooling system seemed to have uneven cooling, often being quite cold, then warmer than we liked. We didn't seem to be able to requlate it very well.

The location was perfect, just over the Bridge of Lions so very close to the downtown/historic area(s.) For those who want to walk or uber there, not bad at all. We opted to drive over and pay a little extra (however, parking places are not easy nor cheap) Our waterview room over the marina and bridge was so nice in the morning with our coffee and at night with our cocktail. The front desk, housekeeping and food & beverage staff were all top notch. Impressed with the level of service (that is sometimes hard to find these days) Thx for making our long weekend a great one.
something that they can't change (logistics of the property) is the size of the pool. It's a square box of water...like a large dipping pool. So if you are looking to lay/lounge/cool off in a pool, this is not it.

The rooms were nice and up to date, very clean and easily accessible. You have your own private patio/balcony with each room. Breakfast was amazing, like eating in a private cafe. Staff was so nice an helpful!
It would have been great to be able to check in at 3:30pm. Even the paperwork at check in stated check in time of 3:30pm. However, we were not allowed to check in until 4p. We arrived just before 3pm and were able to complete the "formalities" except for receiving the room key. The lady that checked us in validated that our room was clean and available but there was an additional lady behind the desk (skinny, blonde, bobbed off hair with glasses and gruff voice). She would not permit check in prior to 4pm. Nonetheless, I had no personal interaction with her but it did set the tone for aggravation. The rest of the staff was amazing and made you feel welcome and ready to assist with anything needed.

Location and the view. It was close enough to walk to some places, yet far enough away from the busy streets of downtown. Sitting on the balcony looking out on the water, the boats and seeing the city lights at night was all nice and peaceful.
The room was small. No microwave. We brought back pizza from lunch for later and couldn't heat it up. My lamp didn't work by the bed. The bed was not the worst, but it wasn't the most comfortable for me and the pillows went flat as soon as I laid my head on them.

The view was beautiful, you couldnt ask for a better scenery as the sun sets watching the boats go by. Picture perfect as one would say. The service and staff was excellant, everyone was very friendly and helpful when needed, as far as the breakfast was concerned it had a nice plating and tasted very good, no complaints there.
My only complaint is I had trouble trying to lock the sliding door, I couldn't lock it. But I didnt worry too much since I was on the second floor.

Our stay was very comfortable as the room was clean, bed very comfortable and the view spectacular. We enjoyed sitting on our patio reading or just watching the boat in the river and cars and people going over the bridge. Lots to look at while at the hotel. Breakfast was delicious and cooked to order. A couple of good restaurants were within walking distance so we didn't have to fight the traffic to get on the main road to find something to eat.
Traffic outside of the hotel going over the bridge made it challenging when leaving to shop or sight see. We were not crazy about the vinyl floor in the bedroom. It quickly got gritty with the dirt and sand we carried in from outside and we had to constantly wipe off our feet before resting on the bed.

The bed, the view, the view and the included breakfast. It was the best breakfast I've ever had at a hotel. Kudos to Robert the chef. Great customer service and an excellent location. It was nice to get away from the buzz of St Augustine and relax outside, near the fire pit overlooking the Marina.

Clean, large room with balcony, free parking, free breakfast, 0.5 mile walk to historic areas. Breakfast consisted of a few rotating choices each day, pancakes, omelet, eggs any way, cheese blintz as well as your choice of juice OR coffee. King sized bed was very comfortable. Hotel is in a quiet, seemingly safe area immediately over the bridge of lions. Free parking and walkable closeness to St. George St. And most downtown historic sites and restaurants were the main attraction for us.
Hotel is actually a small, renovated motel, but nicely appointed. Couldn't make much use of the balcony overlooking the marina. Each morning, the tide was low and the mud flat smell made using the balcony unpleasant. Pool area is small and just for relaxing and socializing. Never saw anyone use it. Evening snack consisted of just a few finger food choices, changing daily. A nice touch, but limited to chips and dip, cheese and crackers, etc.
