Room was perfect, location couldn’t be better!! Outdoor patio areas and seating was spectacular for watching the sunsets. Unfortunately, it was cold during my visit and I didn’t get to use the pool, but it looked amazing! Host(s) were extremely friendly and helpful! Would definitely recommend The Sands of Treasure Island ~ and will stay here again when I visit the area!

Perfect beach front location, ocean views, beautiful sunset views, walking boardwalk and beach is my favourite thing. Ideal location along the coast. Close to fave spots like Johns Pass. Nice pool, free good coffee and great staff.

Interior of rooms very rundown and needing upgrade, but I’m aware building is being demolished soon so makes sense. Everything else,especially location, location, location is fabulous! We will miss this low level beautiful hotel.

We liked our room with the well appointed kitchen, full size refrigerator, range with oven, full size sink and a microwave. The air conditioning units were working properly, in both the bedroom and the living room with the sofa bed. the rooms were very clean and there was plenty of closet space. We liked that we could go out through the back door in the kitchen to the back courtyard and from them to the outdoors seating and grilling area. The beach is right in front through the sand walk without having to cross any streets. I felt very safe at all hours, I enjoyed my 5:00 a.m. walk to the beach to pray & greet the sunrise. My family and I loved the place, we wanted a family oriented quiet place, friendly and not too expensive and the Sands of Treasure Island exceeded our expectations. I loved seeing the parents with their children, the adults having a great time. The location is perfect, there is a Publix supermarket within walking distance. My group had guests over from another hotel for dinner and we used the hotel's grilling area and everybody loved seating outside while we grilled steaks and vegetables, it was memorable. There are plenty of restaurants to go to if one doesn't feel like cooking and we did that too, all within the hotel's vicinity. The Staff is very attentive and ready to help. We needed some utensils for grilling and I only mentioned it once and Rachel immediately came out with what we needed and more. They are all so nice and friendly, no a single grouchy face. This hotel has a history and we could see original features of the 1940's design. In the bathroom medicine cabinet there's a razor blade disposal slot which hasn't been in use for decades. Moreover, there's a very short and neat in-wall fold down iron table from that period of time, not longer installed in any "modern" design. I was in awe when I figured out what those items were and their antiquity.

The main courtyard could use some lawn care, Not that it mattered to us but some decorating features could be upgraded -like the curtains. The curtains would do a better job at blocking light if they hung better. We had to prop cushions from the sofa bed against them to keep them closed. But we didn't let that bother us. I remember something that was annoying, the TV's, the remote controls were not the most user friendly.

Absolutely, hands down, the best location especially for the price! Beach is about a 2 minute walk - crossing a walking/bike trail and the dunes. Beach has rentable umbrellas and chairs (not through the hotel) but super convenient! If you’re looking for fancy, this place is not for you as the hotel is a little dated and feels like stepping back in time but gives you that true beach life feel. Our room was like a one bedroom apartment with a full kitchen so it was great for our family. Plenty of parking but there’s only a handful of spots up front so just wish they had a designated spot for loading/unloading as the overfill parking is close by (about 400ft) but have to cross the busy Gulf Blvd.

Honestly, it could’ve been cleaner. It is right on the beach so understand that there’s going to be SOME sand but the floors needed a good sweeping and the furniture was gross. However, for the price, the location, and the space needed for our family, we just cleaned to our standards and put an extra sheet over the couch and chairs so it was fine and we had an amazing trip!

The location is great.The price is great.The staff is very nice. The beds are comfortable.The rooms are big.We had a full kitchen! The outside patio area is a great Place to Hang out and Meet other guests, Because of the way the rooms are arranged, it's like a little. Neighborhood.

There was no coffee stocked in our room, So you might want to bring your own coffee and coffee pot.

Let the front desk was amazing like I called day of check in to let these people know that I bringing my grandsons instead of a friend of mine and they were so kind that they accommodated us with no charge this was by far one of the best places I have stayed at on the beach in St Pete so far very reasonably prized very laid back atmosphere very clean no hidden anything just up front what it is is what you get and it's a nice place

Actually I really can't think of anything that I didn't like about this place and I'm not just saying that cuz I'm not an over criticizing person but I'm definitely an honest person and truly there was nothing I could tell you that I didn't like about it

Very aged and had an unpleasant smell. Cleanliness left much to be desired. (Kitchen equipment and dishes not clean, garbage under the hide a bed, etc). Sadly, this location is to be demolished this fall and a high rise, modern and expensive hotel built in its place.

This is one of, if not the oldest hotel on the strip. Think retro...my friends and I love, love, love this place. Right on the beach, great pool, and a wonderful, covered, breezeway where you can sit while watching the storms roll in off the Gulf. Or the sunset or the people passing on a sidewalk connecting all the beachfront resorts and restaurants. But the absolute BEST PART is their staff. Linda is a permanent fixture and she and the crew take excellent care of us. This is NOT your "cookie-cutter" beach condo...this is an old school, OLD FLORIDA apartment complete with full stove, apartment fridge, coffeemaker and toaster. Super economical. Endless hot water with great pressure...alot of folks return there year after year just like we do because the atmosphere is homey and relaxed, with much camaraderie between staff and guests. Just came home and going back in February...for the record, I AM a Florida Native and this place feels like home!

Parking is very limited in front of hotel so arrive at check in to secure your spot. Trolley runs right in front and goes up and down the strip .

This is the second time that I stayed here. Wow there was not anything that I didn't like here. So many conveniences of staying at the Sands. The most popular for me is right there on the beach!. Really enjoyed our stay. It was a quick trip, to see Nicholas Sparks with my daughter. I will be back a third time most definitely. I was planning on coming back next week for one or two days with my daughter from Tennessee. That trip will also be a spur of the moment. I can't wait to see you soon.

What I did not like was all the bad reviews that people has given this quaint little place. I suppose from reading the reviews they stay at five star Resort, To each their own, I was just really surprised . I myself give this a five star. The saddest part about this trip is hearing that they're tearing it down at the end of April granted to put up a bigger place I know with the same owners it's going to be just as quaint.
