June 2023

I recently stayed at the Westin Maui Resort & Spa for five nights and had an excellent time with my fiancé. The resort is packed with fun and entertaining amenities, convenient restaurants and bars, and a very cool pool area with waterslide. If you are staying in this area of Maui mostly to go to the beach or sit by the pool then you will not be disappointed with the Westin. The location is right on Ka’anapali Beach so you can step directly on the sand. For the price, which is very expensive, I was extremely happy with the beachfront views and interesting pathways and sights. I was happy with the King bedroom I reserved and even though I did not have an ocean view I really enjoyed the garden view that overlooked the nearby golf course and had the mountains in the background. The room was very clean and the bed and bath areas were great. I really liked the bedding and mattress. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The food that we ordered from the Hale Moʻolelo was pretty good both the takeout and dine in. We appreciated that the Hale Mo’olelo was open late. There is often live music and we were very impressed with one of the singers during our dinner meal. I did not get a chance to try the fancier restaurant or their market & eatery. I got drinks from the poolside bar and the Hale Mo’olelo and they were always made great tasting and strong with booze. One of the best parts was the lobby of the resort which had a gigantic coy fish pond with lots of real flamingos just hanging out. There is also three larges cages with parrots and cockatoos for the guests to enjoy viewing. The resort has little events going on all the time. My fiancé was able to have a parrot walk on her head from the animal trainer and often employees would be handing out freshly cut fruit. The Westin has a sidewalk the follows the length of the beach past other resorts and is a fantastic walk to start the morning. There is also a shopping mall directly next door in walking...

I did think the room was a smidgen too small but it did not negatively effect my trip in the slightest. My fiancé thought the room could have had better soundproofing because you could hear noises in the hallways easily. The shower in the bathroom was modern and great to use but is loud and might wake people up. Parking was $45 a day for self parking but at least the parking garage was very close and easy to get to quickly.

The property and staff were amazing.

The additional 30% cost of taxes and fees. Then being told in order to sit in a beach chair, it's another $25/day per person. $950/night plus $300/night in taxes and fees, then wanting another $25/day for a beach chair is ridiculous. Especially when I booked a BEACHSIDE RESORT.

We had an awesome view of the pool and ocean. Could not have asked for more. The room was very modern and clean.

During our stay my phone charger went missing. I never found it and know I left it plugged into the wall in the room. Housekeeping must have messed with it or accidentally taken it. The management did an okay job trying to solve it and gave me a free charger cord, but unfortunately they didn’t have one that was compatible with my phone or the same quality of the one I lost. I appreciated the gesture but would have preferred another solution, such as a gift card or room credit since they could never explain what happened or replace my item.

comfortable bed, lovely view of the ocean and pools. Nice to have a private lanai. Great shower and water pressure. My daughter especially loved the lights around the mirror in the bathroom. I guess it's perfect for flawless makeup application. Who knew?

I wish there was room service. I booked months in advance and provided my flight information and arrival time and was made to wait until 3:50 for my room. Having come from Seattle, we weren't ill equipped to wait out that many hours, even with access to the pool, with our suitcases in hand. I feel like our room should have been ready. I checked in twice throughout our wait and each time was told it wasn't ready. It felt a little hard to believe there was nothing that could be done for us.

The resort itself was beautiful. Lovely water features, landscaping, birds and Koi fish. The restaurant was great. Yummy dishes and no waiting most of the time. Poolside service was great.

Made the mistake of asking for a King size bed. Ended up with a view of the dumpster. The beaches were small and a little crowded. 2 of The 3 times we asked the desk for help, the person was a bit surly, as though we were bothering them.

I was anxious about the recent Delta surge in the middle of our vacation…and we were transferring from an Airbnb to the resort. I was concerned about the crowds. It was definitely more crowded than I was hoping but the resort did a nice job of encouraging social distancing in the elevators, cues and dining areas and sanitizing tables and lounge chairs. All the personnel wore masks, even outdoors. The tourists tended not to wear masks by the pool area so we avoided it and went to the local quieter beaches. Our room was always cleaned well and I didn’t feel “icky” at all…although we did buy our own pillows at Walmart on the way in. That’s just because I’m more neurotic! My son loved the complimentary activities like feeding the koi fish, lei making, frond weaving and parrot photos…and he was obsessed with the flamingos! The grounds are gorgeous.

It’s touristy and expensive. But that’s to be expected. The luau is also impossible to book unless you do it 2 months ahead…which again is impossible given how we had to rebook this trip several times due to COVID.

The location was excellent. The restaurants, proximity to the beach, Whalers Village. Also the grounds were excellent, the many pools, landscaping

the size of my room and the beds. thought it would be slightly bigger for the price. Even when we considered upgrading to the next size room, the next size offered less storage for clothes. so we stuck with our smaller room because it had more clothes storage.

property was right on the beach and includes multiple pools, restaurants and convenient eateries. Staff were very friendly.

My only complaint is the beds are uncomfortable and have a lumpy non-attached mattress pad under the sheets. I was expecting something more in line with a Westin heavenly bed since we were at the Westin.

Beautiful facilities and location

Some front desk staff were quite dismissive of other than elite guests and not very welcoming. Which was really disappointing when we arrived at the resort excited about our stay. One of the valets broke a wheel on our luggage and bent the license plate on our rental in half. The pool and concierge staff, were however excellent.

The staff, the location, the fish, the birds, the ocean, the sunshine, the slides, the poolside services, the towel cards, the cabanas.

Bars and pool areas being off limits for special groups. My resort fee was charged every day. Felt cheated by this. The covid hassle ( not your fault but not explained very well by staff. The hounding to see your timeshares. No is no.
