The Sherman is a quaint 150 year old hotel (remodeled) in downtown Batesville, Indiana. The staff was very friendly . We enjoyed our 2 day stay as we sampled several privately owned and recommended local restaurants. The only disappointment I would say was that the hotel’s ,well known and classic, restaurant was closed - reportedly due to a lack of a proper staff.

There is no elevator to our second floor room, but we knew that when we made the booking

The Sherman was immaculate, which is a big deal for me. The staff was so sweet and very helpful. We stayed one night, going to Metamora on Saturday. We had an extra bonus as a live band, (Dooley and Justin) were performing outside on the patio. We would definitely stay here again.

No elevator, but we were find with that. If someone was staying, that was confined to a wheelchair that could be a problem. They may have rooms on the ground floor, which I did not ask about. You could definitely check with them before hand. Other than no elevator, we loved our stay.

the website indicated a restaurant was attached but when I calle to check the hours they said it was closed. it worked out because we ended up at a little pub down the street that was just lovely

Quaint historic building, proud of it’s heritage. Staff was genuinely friendly and helpful.

Small rooms. Bathroom is very small. Turning radius to enter is very tight. Water in shower takes a while to heat up.

By far the best hotel in town. Close, and I mean walking distance, to EVERYTHING. When you think Hallmark movie, think this town and hotel.

Bar closed early. Actually whole town closed early. I’m definitely not used to that coming from California

The location was great! We were able to walk to everything and really enjoyed the nearby pizza joint. We also had a great time in the bar. The live band was wonderful and we shot pool and darts for hours. We loved the fact that the hotel is so old! We also loved that the common areas weren’t updated but the rooms were. It’s a beautiful place!

Beds are too firm, rooms aren’t sound proof. We could hear hallway noise.

The place very very clean the housekeeper doing great job , as historic place its so good great shower and bedroom clean , i love it and the way moderise it everything brand new

There should be bell to notify the staff instead of using phone and PARKING instead stopping at the main RD. No dine in ir grill restaurant around , the bar is Meh ... Basically drink and fun no Food food

Excellent historical property rebounding from Covid. Recently renovated and clean throughout. Each room unique.

Upgrade the pillows!
