I really liked the atrium rooms! The little nooks of sitting areas are so cute. My son (9) loved the pool and hot tub, sauna room in the bathroom was neat. The shops attached were fun to walk through on our way to the restaurant. the buffet was good. My son was so excited for the free cookies and tic tac toe in the lobby! The rooms were quiet and cute. I look forward to the spring/summer when we can return and experience the rest of the rest of the grounds!
The breakfast was really picked over with 45 minutes left. I was able to make a waffle, but the warm options were gone.

Beautiful resort and grounds! From the bike path, you enter the property through a covered bridge, through gardens and outdoor structures that are beautifully landscaped and maintained. The indoor decor is Disney-like, with comfortable seating areas and unique furnishings throughout. I think each room is decorated differently--not your typical cookie-cutter motel set up. We took advantage of the property's restaurant, bakery, pool and workout room--all were excellent. Breakfast was pretty good. Beds were comfortable. We could not hear any external noise from our room, even though we were there on a busy summer weekend. Wish we had booked a longer stay, but the Essenhaus will definitely be our choice when we visit the area again.
Everything exceeded our expectations.

The breakfast area is massively huge. Lots of choices for breakfast but sadly only cold boiled eggs. The cleanliness of the entire place is amazing, even the emergency stairs are clean and looks great to the point of if compared to other places it they would be there main hallway.
The pool is on the small side, wouldn’t try to fit more than 10 adults in it. The hot tub is huge but located up some stairs that aren’t suitable for the older adults. Massive space for the pool area. Only cold boiled eggs are available for breakfast, no scrambled eggs :(

Breakfast was great. The hotel was clean and the staff was very nice. The shops had a lot to offer. The restaurant was very busy as usual, and the food was good. We also didn't have to wait at all because the front desk staff can make you a reservation. The free cookies and coffee/hot chocolate were a nice little bonus. The grounds are gorgeous and very well maintained. We had a lovely time.
We loved the ambiance and quaintness of the common areas, but were a little disappointed that we couldn't find a game board with all of the chess or checkers pieces. The pool, hot tub, and game room area were a nice distraction, but could have used a change machine as all the games took quarters. It would also be nice to have some chalk for the pool cues. They may have had some at the front but we didn't bother to ask. We were also a little sad that they closed the silo staircase. We had the chance to see it the first time we stayed about fifteen years ago and really wanted to share the experience with our teen daughter. We made the best of it though and still made great family memories.

The breakfast was very good, grounds are beautiful, shops and restaurant are fantastic, and pool and hot tub was so satisfying. Staff were very kind and helpful. I also appreciate all the sitting areas indoors and outdoors.
Our room's thermostat was broken and the room was warm, having no AC on a 90° day. It read 80° in the room and took nearly 24 hours to drop to the set preferred temperature of 69°. I'd also suggest a higher thread count for the bedding, pillows of various firmness, and a wider variety of cable channels since there's not a lot to do after 7pm in the area.

I am gluten sensitive so I was able to bring my own gf waffle and toast it there. It was nice that the eggs and sausages didn’t have wheat in them! Also the hot cocoa/tea area was great!! We loved being able to walk around the property, sit by the fire, walk to shops and dinner, and the game room was fun too!
Nothing I can think of. Everything was yummy! My husband loved the cookies that were available!

Our room was large and spacious, with a lovely balcony overlooking a beautiful flower garden and gazebo. The balcony had a nice table and chair set that allowed for sitting outside with an iced tea or cup of coffee depending on the time of day and your personal tastes. The ambience of the hallways and lobby was peaceful, safe, and comforting. It was great that our closet area also had a second sink so that my wife could use the sink and mirror there while I was using the shower. That was an unexpected, but very nice, blessing! The continental breakfast provided was well-stocked, delicious, and served in a very lovely and spacious room designed to accommodate a large number of guests.

The hotel was very clean, comfortable, safe, and relaxing. The room was cute and very charming. It felt like we were sleeping over at grandma's house...in the best possible way. The colors were soothing. The beds were very comfortable and had quilts folded at the foot. There was a small table and chairs, a desk, a large TV cabinet that hid the TV and looked like a large armoire. There was a fridge, but no microwave. We had a balcony room on the first floor that looked out onto a beautiful floral quilt square garden. The grounds were lovely and quiet to stroll or bicycle around. We had the evening buffet in the restaurant and both the food and the service were great. We plan to return soon!
There was nothing that we didn't like.

Very nice hotel, with friendly guest services. The room was comfortable and unbeknownst to us, had a restaurant, playground and stores on the property. We were traveling with the grandkids, so the playground and gift shop were a bonus. It's a less congested area than Shipshewana and I loved not fighting the traffic. The restaurant food was very good.
The guest services offered to call into the restaurant to put our name on the list to be seated. We had no idea where the restaurant was and barely made our time as we had to walk across the property to get there. We thought it was in the hotel. Luckily it wasn't very busy, so we easily got a table. The stores in the area closed pretty early, so we didn't get a chance to visit them.

Grounds are amazing as well as the decorations. Loved the new lighted bridge. Great cookies and hot chocolate. Breakfast very good but limited main course.
My room on the second floor of the atrium had no quilt, no king bed, no microwave, tiny bathroom, too small, no table. We prefer the new section with single king bed. No housekeeping provided while rates increased significantly!
