The Microtel will never be confused with an upscale property, but it's clean, comfortable and safe. The staff was very nice and the location is convenient.

Dripping bathroom sink faucet was a minor annoyance and someone stomping around in the room/area above me was more annoying. The breakfast was very basic and not the freshest, but OK. The only thing I really disliked was the price gouging for ISU home football weekends, but of course everyone intown does it, and Microtel was the cheapest.

My experience is Microtel has nice small rooms with modern amenities (large flat screen tv). However, the bathroom at this Microtel seemed to be taken from a cruise ship - extremely small. Or maybe I just was given the smallest room at the hotel. But having a few more square feet in the bathroom would be nice so you would not feel like you are in an actual closet.

It’s the season I know, however, there were little red ants all over in our rooms. My daughter graduated from DMAC in DesMoines Iowa but she lives in Ames. My family and I occupied 4 rooms. All 4 rooms were crawling with Ants. One night I borrowed the vacuum cleaner from the front desk and vacuumed my room because they were crawling.

The room was very clean. The beds and pillows were comfortable. The hotel was very full, so we did hear a small amount of noise, but nothing bothersome. The sink area is pretty small outside the toilet and shower room, so if anyone was at the sink, they had to move for that door into the toilet and shower room to open. There was a large window seat. The breakfast was standard fare -- waffles, juice, pastries, cold hard-boiled eggs, breads, bananas, cereal, milk. Also coffee and tea, which was English Breakfast tea, a nice touch. The staff was friendly. The only thing we didn't like was that the air conditioner cycled off and on, but it was quieter than some others.

Price and location It bothers me to spend $100 or more for a night's stay for 1 person. It was nice to pay less. It was so easy to find.

The tub and wall of shower had suspicious unclean marks on them. I could Not get the Hallmark channel or Netflix. Come on...at least the Hallmark channel! Breakfast was kind of skimpy. Light above bed wasn't working.

I really appreciate that it is clean and low-price. I didn’t need fancy. Staff was available and very friendly. Sheets were white and smelled very faintly of bleach. Free WiFi. Breakfast was basic but fine. Coffee was great.

I wished there was an extra blanket in the room. I asked and was given one the next morning.

Everything went well. We stayed on the first floor and could hear when people upstairs when they moved. I think the floor and ceiling are not that thick. Other than that, all is well. This will be our back-up place to stay from now on.

Nothing much stood out. The facility is clean and well-kept. Apparently, the owners care very much about their business. We would love bigger selections for breakfast, though.

It was fine in the room and front of the motel were fine

The elevator area was dirty and the around the outside of the building next to the building the weeds were about 3- 4 feet tall and the trash can and ashtray hadn’t been empty for a month or more.

Location was convenient. Facility was clean, and had good options for breakfast. Room and Beds were comfortable.

Handicap access at end of building was not convenient for someone using a walker. Adding a handicap ramp close to the door should be considered.

The staff and facilities were perfect. Friendly and efficient from check in to check out. Very clean surroundings and staff very on top of breakfast area cleaning and food replenishment.

The only problem we had was a horrible upstairs guest stomping around at all hours and then starting all over again with large banging and shower running at 4am. The barking from their dog did not help either.
