Super fabulous historic building with a rich history! The lobby was stunning. The room had modern furnishings that managed to still fit the feeling of the building. Nice area right downtown. Plenty of parking considering it’s in the middle of the downtown area.

Somehow I can’t really think of anything. No breakfast was included (they did have a pretty pricey cafe where you could buy breakfast, but we didn’t), but I understand why they didn’t and that it would hike up the price of the stay if they did have breakfast. The pool was too cold- that’s all I can think of.

I grew up visiting my grandmother in Dubuque and every time we drove past the Hotel Julien I wished we could stay there. Since becoming an adult this is where I (and the rest of my extended family) always stay for visits to Dubuque. The location is excellent, it's an easy walk to the 4th Street Elevator, many great shops, Barrel House, and a the casino/museum/waterpark area. The hotel is beautiful and spacious. It's historic and has nice touches of its history throughout.

An issue that we have dealt with numerous times is the customer service. It is nearly impossible to get them to answer the phone (something this socially anxious millennial only resorts to if extremely needed). When we checked in for this stay, the front desk worker was unusually concerned that my husband was checking in with me (we had booked through booking.com for 2 guests) the front desk person treated my husband like an unwelcome visitor, saying that she would not give him a key (something we had not asked for) unless we gave her his name (something we had not refused to do). Not sure why checking in as a couple is so suspicious for this company.

The hotel is beautiful. Looks just like the pictures on their website. The room was clean, spacious and beds are comfortable. Staff was very pleasant. I would definitely stay here again.

Our room faced the Main Street were there was a bar. On Saturday night, even though we were on the 7th floor we could hear the thumping music of the band that got louder every time someone opened the door. Not sure if it was the clientele or a motorcycle meet, but motorcycles roared up and down the street. It went on until 2 am.

The uniqueness of the hotel, the view from the rooms. There was a nice patio The pool area was very quiet and was not used by anyone but us during our stay. The history of the hotel is fascinating.

The restaurant at the hotel was pricey and wasn't very good. The spa was way over priced, the table wasn't heated, the room was cold and the lotion wasn't heated so I was cold during my whole message. The hours of the bar downstairs is hit and miss so you never knew when it was open.

I have stayed several times. The pool is always freezing. Seems like they don’t want to spend the money to heat it. It is an indoor pool and it is January. Please heat the pool. Also the hot tub is either so hot you cannot even get in, or it is barely warm and is not even close to the correct temperature. These things all seem like simple fixes but never seem to happen. I discussed it with folks at the front desk but nothing changed. Hopefully management reads these things and can take care of this. This should be simple.

The place is beautifully renovated and not creepy for holding as much history as it does. The room was comfortable and quiet. The hotel is conveniently located right across the river from WI, on the east side of town and within walking distance of the beautiful Mississippi River Walk. We enjoyed our stay in Dubuque, and the Hotel Julien was the perfect place to spend the night while visiting.

The parking lot was tight and seemed to fill up quick. The thermostat in the room was impossible to control, so we ended up freezing at 60 some degrees. With a building as old as the Hotel Julien, that was to be expected. We were thankful for the robes in the room and the warmer clothes we packed to keep us more comfortable while sleeping.

The interior was ornate and beautiful. The people were helpful and friendly at the desk. And parking was convenient.

I did not like that I had no control over the temperature in my room. I had to go down and asked the receptionist to raise the temperature. It would be better if we had control of the thermostat. Also, but not a big deal. We stayed in a Comfort Inn the night before and the tv there was much better than yours.

The room was beautiful and comfortable. The hotel was near main routes. There was a nice feeling of blend of old with new.

It would be good if dinner menu offered some smaller entrees. Ii is difficult to have left overs when traveling. The food is excellent. It would be nice if a special occasion is recognized by hospitality. It could be as simple as a congratulations note on a bedside table or on a reserved table at restaurant. Just a thought.

I didn't eat the breakfast. I have a strict diet & brought my own food.

The room was small, but fine, because I was by myself. It would have been nice if I could have saved a bit of money, because I couldn't have the breakfast, but I didn't know there was a breakfast, so it didn't matter too much.

We loved the redo of the facility and the fact that you retained artwork and features original to the structure. Caroline’s was tremendous for dinner and the value was great also. Your location in downtown Dubuque made it accessible to Dubuque landmarks and tourist destinations.

All good.
