Frank was very gracious and welcoming. Very nice staff. It only took 5 minutes to walk to center of town. This house made me feel like I was back in time. Very charming. Enjoyed my stay. Thank you, Frank!
I didn’t spend a lot time in the room, but for some who like to relax, I think a tv would have been nice.

Rick was amazing to work with. He was very knowledgeable about the area and his Inns. The room itself had what we needed (ie. bed, AC, shower) however I think a soft renovation of the room could really enhance its beauty. The bed sheets were so crisp and clean, we knew we were staying at a good Inn.
There was no water bottles in the mini fridge. Just 4 seltzers.

We actually stayed at the Wyncott house not Melville. Great location to walk all over Newport. Rick, the proprietor, was very accommodating. The room was lovely cozy and reasonably priced. We will definitely stay again as our son is studying at the Navel War College in town .

The property management company owns several historical homes on this lovely and quaint street. We had reserved a small room in the Melville house but when we arrived they offered to upgrade us to a larger room if we checked in alittle later, which we did. The room they offered was in another of their homes on the street and it was absolutely beautiful. Large king size bed and a bathroom with two vanity sinks. They were thoughtful to offer a black colored "Make-Up" towel for those who need one. My husband and I had to leave at 6am the next morning and the guest keeper, a gentlemen whom I did not get his name, greeted us with hot and fresh coffee at 6am. How wonderful is that. We filled our thermos and slipped out quietly to not wake up the other guests. The parking was located behind the building and our car was easily accessible. We are definitely coming back next year. Thank-you the wonderful team at Melville House and see you next year!

We got upgraded to a room in one of the accompanying inns, our room was called Mrs. Astor. The room was small, but comfortable with a king sized bed. We did not order breakfast. Overall, no complaints. The parking was easy and available, just a little scary pulling out of the lot since it's such a narrow driveway.

This is a lovely establishment, comfortable, good size room, frette linens and towels. great shower, and ac. complimentary continental breakfast and delicious (paid) breakfast available upon request. The property is centrally located to restaurants, bars and shops all within walking distance. innkeeper Rick is very accommodating and helpful. We will go back.
There isn’t much not to like, but if I have to say something one could grump about it would be the parking gets complicated. We always got a spot but you have to be a fearless driver to manage the parking lots which are tight with narrow entrances.

The 2 gentlemen that greeted us and got us settled into our room were excellent. The location of Melville house is perfect, it is within walking distance to everything we wanted to do.
Walls are thin and you could hear people coming and going but that was to be expected in an old historic inn.

Close to Thames street and easy walk to lots of shopping/food. Bed was comfy in our room. We were on the second floor, bringing luggage in and out was easy. Cool spot in an old house!
Bathroom had a dripping water sound coming from a neighboring room.

Breakfast at the house. Location was central and historic and great. Loved access to self-serve breakfast foods all day. Access to water and small group kitchen was great as well!
Third floor walkup was a bit "far" from street. Parking was a bit tight but they helped with that. You definitely need to consider the size of your vehicle at this location. The streets are old and parking is very tight. Otherwise there was nothing else I didn't like.
