It was eclectic and cool. It made me WANT to explore the whole hotel, which we did. I only wish we would have arrived earlier to enjoy more of what they had to offer. You're always going to have a unique experience at a McMenamins property that you won't soon forget.

The bed was not comfortable for myself or my wife. It was VERY firm. If you like that, then you'll probably love it. I, however, slept terribly. I know it's subjective, though. I tried not to ding them for it too much in my review.

First visit to a McManamins and it was such a feast for the eyes- like a hostel on steroids, the paintings, colours, photographs, fabrics and plants are just super fun and extra. Also an amazing story(ies) behind a historical building you have to see to truly appreciate! Cozy room with a clean, comfy bed. Excellent, friendly staff and great drinks. The best part was the multiple bars to chose from. Found this great as a solo traveller- safe, fun, unique spaces that i didnt expect to find all under one (fabulous) roof. The tiki bar's great and Spanish bar's cocktails were particularly awesome! Little tour of the gorgeous "ballroom" concert space was a nice touch. They also have a great little gift shop with a variety of taps available. Super memorable experience, will be back with friends/family for sure and will be seeking out more spots from this company.

I wish the description of the property did this place more justice, I would have skipped my first hotel stop (boring, bougie, sterile, too many people, lack of ameneties) and stayed here the whole time, cuz this was much more my style. Also would have planned to catch a show cuz I had no idea the concert ballroom was so impressive. King room not huge if you have a lot of stuff but were more than spacious enough for single.

Fantastic quirky stay! Hotel rooms are nice, we had a private bath attached. Really fun decor! Such a fun place to explore-food and drink options seem endless! Staff is very nice and friendly, quick response to the customer.

The only small draw back were the pillows-they were small and too poofy so they flattened out quickly. Had to double up. That’s the only thing!

This is a fun place with great service and great food. I recommend the Jr.'s Jumbo Deluxe with a side of Cajun Tots for lunch or dinner and the Biscuits and Gravy for breakfast. Parking could be a challenge, but I was very fortunate.

As someone who crashes early, the show going on downstairs was a little loud, but not a deal breaker. Everything else was perfect.

This is an amazing building! We will be back just to explore the building some more. Our room was small but cozy and plenty clean. The staff were all super friendly. Downtown is very walkable from here. And there are four or five bars and restaurants in the building itself, so you don't have to go far for anything. We will definitely be back.

I love all the unique artwork and how there are different themes to where you eat or drink. They have done a great job renovating this facility. The outside is gorgeous as well as the inside. Also, the breakfast was absolutely delicious.

Actually, there was nothing. I didn't like about the property other than in the morning when we wanted to go to the gift store because you have to go through the tiki lounge to get there and one of our guests could not do stairs easily and made it difficult to access.

The location was perfect for our planned activities -- a visit to the W.W.S. Botanical Conservatory, Broadway Antique Row, and the Farmers Market Gala. And I could see that it would also be perfect for concerts and/or stage performances. Gives me lots to consider. But mostly I enjoyed every one of my interactions with staff members. The front desk staff, random staff members we met in the hallway or elevator, the wait staff in the restaurant -- all were gracious, helpful, and charming.

Parking, parking, parking! It would be nice not to have to spend so much time scouting for a parking spot. But that challenge did not detract from our total enjoyment of our stay.

The Elks Temple is a fascinating hotel renovated with style. The rooms and common areas are exquisitely decorated and the view from the hotel is amazing. it is a perfect location for visiting the Tacoma Museum of Glass and the Chihuly Bridge of Glass. The rooms and beds were very comfortable. When we were disappointed that our room was lacking a fridge, they immediately provided a portable one. Great service!

Almost everything.

I love the fact that it’s dog friendly, but it was very difficult to find a place to walk the dogs where they could safely potty. The neighborhood is a bit rough. Most of the unpaved areas around the property aren’t safe for dogs. Many were untended with weeds and trash, including broken glass. Even the manicured beds had broken glass, bits of trash and occasionally drug paraphernalia.

Rooms are each unique and this hotel is so full of history as it was the Elks Lodge Temple (the stories it could tell!). Really charming architecture. Easy freeway access. Also, the attached McMennimins pub is so convenient, excellent food and beverages!

Parking is right at front, which is great, but the signs say that you can't park overnight, but the staff says the city doesn't cite or tow. Nothing happened but it is a little unnerving, and there are not parking alternatives.
