The place and room are quite enough considering the rates we paid. The surrounding of the hotel is nice and suitable for a family as it is within the residential area and has shops, business center, supermarkets and pharmacy nearby. As well it is close to the nicest beaches of Maroubra and Coogie and public transport is very reliable.

To get reception staff is quite hectic as they are not very much available. The room also do lack a hotel phone call.

Affordability, friendliness and location! My daughter ms and I stayed 3 nights. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Beds very comfortable. Woolworths just bellow allows to get essentials. Pub food below. Bus stops 2 min walk away. Beach max 10min walk. Very very happy. Will stay again!

No shampoo or conditioner. Woolworths below but I like the small bottles usually supplied to save us carrying large bottles.

Very good value compared to other accommodations in Sydney. We had a spacious family room for four which was very clean and had everything we needed. Very easy to get to the center and around with the bus. One bus from the airport. No.350 loved the walk along the coast and beaches from Maroubra to Bondi. Had a great meal in the pub below and took part in their pub quiz. supermarket near by. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend the Southend Hotel for location and value for money.

The location is very good as it's close to all the amenities and major attractions. I loved their bar and bistro, which is a happening place to be, especially on a weekend. The staff and the owners were very friendly and courteous and always ready to help.

The rooms are a bit retired, and if they could be improved, this hotel can be exceptionally good. The electric kettle we had in our room was rusty. That was a little disappointing.

The Southend Hotel was a perfect place for us to stay as it was very close to our specific destination. It is very comfortable and the downstairs bottle shop, restaurant, adjacent shops - Woolies, chemist and others made the location even better. The staff were very friendly and helpful and it’s about 5 minutes walk to the beach.

Our room was accessed by a lengthy set of stairs which made carting our stuff to and from our room a bit of a chore but we were prepared for this being a Hotel. There is no lighting over the small kitchen/sink area making it somewhat hard to see what we were doing at night as the only light in room, besides the bed lights, is a low wattage centre ceiling light. The walls are not soundproof as we could here the person in the room next to us every time she was talking to someone else or on the phone, so presumably they could here us. The carpark is a shared shopping carpark.

Staff were so lovely. Helped us with our many bags and stored them for us upon checkout. No issues with noise although directly above the pub. Great food in the bistro section of the pub and right beside Woolworths and the beach. Great to have fridge and microwave in the room. Housekeeping did a great job and the place was spotless!

The decor is a little outdated and the beds very springy! Maybe the bedclothes and mattresses could be modernized/refreshed!

Decent pub downstairs and a nice feel to it. Close to shops...woolworths next door.....but there is a little charcoal chicken shop next door that make the best chicken and gravy rolls ive ever tasted,id stay there again just to go there.

Nothing really.....maybe just the location to coogee was about 13 bucks in an uber.

The staff especially the bar staff (special mention to Conor) where very helpful and friendly. I loved the Irish bar style and awesome sports room was very comfortable with big TV'S.

It could use a little matianence in the room or balcony and door and a little cleaner mostly dusting. However it wasn't bad and suited my needs to a T I wad very happy.

The staff were great, the room was clean and beds comfortable, great location having the love music and nice food down stairs. Having Woolworths downstairs was handy.

Only thing room needed was a toaster. And would of been great if the pub stayed open longer.
