Spacious Communal Areas: The hostel has plenty of room to relax, socialize, and even work if you use your own hotspot. Large Kitchen & Fridge Space: You won’t feel cramped when cooking, and there’s enough fridge room for everyone. Friendly Staff & Added Perks: There’s a shuttle to the bus station, free breakfast, and the staff are very welcoming. Close to the Ocean: Being just a short walk from the water is a definite plus.

Slow Internet: If you rely on a strong connection for work, be prepared to use your own data or hotspot. Cramped, Dark Rooms: Despite the large overall property, the dorms feel poorly lit and not well planned. A small renovation could improve comfort significantly. Bathroom Inside the 6-Person Dorm: Having the shower and toilet in the same room with multiple people isn’t ideal—there’s noise, and late-night showers can disturb others. Underutilized Space & Design: Architecturally, the property has a lot of potential but isn’t laid out effectively, leaving you feeling like more could be done to maximize its size.

Great hostel in a good location just a block back from the beach. The room is on the outside of the building in a row connected to other rooms. It was such a great room and the fact that it was actually outside of the main building was amazing. It had really comfy bed, tv, standing fan and a great ensuite/bathroom. Outside our window was a covered area with a chair and a clothes drying rack, and beautiful garden full of chirping birds. The kitchen was in the main building and it was a great, well stocked kitchen. It had anything that you could ever need for cooking etc. The communal fridge was also great as it was a large industrial type with a specific area for your food according to your room no. There was an amazing patio area just outside the kitchen area with a table and chairs, couches, lounge chairs, a BBQ. It was a nice and relaxing area overlooking the gorgeous pool area. A small breakfast is provided which is amazing. There was bread for toasting with various spreads, tea and coffee and waffle mix to cook fresh waffles in the waffle machine :)

There wasn't anything that I didn't like but if I had to pick something it would be that the noise of the cars going past on the street is somewhat noisy at night as my room was facing the street.

We loved our private room and bathroom, it was a very peaceful stay with great amenities on site like a cinema room, swimming pool, pool table and fully functional kitchen...we were greatful for this because we were only there for one day and our tour got cancelled due to bad weather...we were able to kill time before our ongoing coach journey comfortably here. The staff were also so lovely, especially the British girl on duty for the majority of the time we were there. We also appreciated the additional bus service, you pay $5 per person per trip and they will take you to multiple places throughout the day as long as they are able...this service is also free at certain time of the day. The complementary breakfast was also a nice surprise.

Rooms were clean. The kitchen was a lot more equipped than the average hostel kitchen so it was good to cook. There's a really nice cinema room. A lot of common areas both inside and outside. The staff was really nice.

Location was kind of random, in the middle between the greyhound bus station and the central area of Hervey Bay, but not really walking distance from either. It was right on a bus station, though, and busses were ok. They have a shuttle to the Greyhound station but not in the morning and not at night... Sink is right in the room (without a separating door), which makes a lot of noise at night. The kitchen closes pretty early, and so are the common areas. Forces you to stay in the room, you can't make a cup of tea before bed, I don't know why they close it so early.

The staff was super friendly and accommodating, I was moved to another room without any problems and the woman from reception (sorry forgot her name!) even checked in with me a few times to make sure I felt more comfortable in my new room. The kitchen and the room were really clean, the room itself was cleaned everyday too. They do free events some nights which is nice. They also do free shuttle buses to the Greyhound stop which is super convenient if you don't have your own car.

Power points on the upper beds and a little shelf to put your phone etc. on for all the beds would be nice! Also a few more pots and pans in the kitchen would be great, if there were multiple people cooking at the same time sometimes you had to wait for someone else to be done so you could use a pan. The staff was asking us for recommendations on what to improve and they're really keen on making the place nice so I'm sure the hostel will be even better soon :)

The super cheap ($5/day) bike rental to wander around the bay and there's 4/5 available to rent. The shuttle bus to and from the Greyhound bus stop, otherwise it's a 40 minute walk. The volleyball area. The walk in fridge that's well able to remain cold. The free breakfast from 6:30am to 9am. Random free BBQ at 6:30pm one evening. The friendly staff.

The laundry prices were slightly steep ($5 each for washing and drying) The shuttle bus was free for my collection from the bus stop but there was a small charge to get dropped for a departure. Would have been nice to have been free considering there were several people requiring the service. Hervey Bay is quite spread out so most other attractions require bus, bike rental, DiDi or Beam scooter. The K'gari tours will collect you from the hostel though which is great. Bus services in Hervey Bay finish quite early. Bins were outside the building, none in the kitchen, but I get that from the perspective of avoiding flies. Main light switch in the 5 bed dorm was next to the pillow of a bottom bunk, a bit awkward.

The place was super clean and tidy, owner emphasised that everyone cleaned up after themselves and they did and she did a great job cleaning herself. All the facilities were nice and the environment and people there were all so interesting and considerate. Was lovely talking with them, they were all young backpackers and was just a great vibe overall.

Nothing bad to say about this place, it was absolutely amazing, was super close to the beach and the Thai place next door is great! Sunset at the beach is also amazing!

The staff are absolutely amazing. The new manager Polly is a star!!! Harry is always very friendly and goes out of his way to ensure your stay is very comfortable. Whilst the stunning Sara sadly moved on, her replacement Shy is an outstanding addition to the team.

After having a nightmare of day travelling over to Hervey Bay, I got as far as Maryborough and was meant to get the last Greyhound bus to Hervey Bay. The bus drove straight past me and that was the last mode of transport heading to Hervey that night and began to think I might have to sleep rough as I had no way of getting to Flashpackers. After getting through to Flashpackers on the phone and briefly telling Ren about my predicament, she went out of her way to come and collect me at 9pm. She was the most lovely person and had such a nice conversation with her. I cannot thank Ren enough for going above and beyond her job to rescue me that night, so once again, thank you so much! Will be recommending Flashpackers to anyone staying in Hervey Bay!

- we had a late check in so arrived at 1.30am, but we had to make our own beds in a room full of people asleep. We tried to be as quiet as we could but it’s obviously not very practical for people to be making beds in the dark in the early hours of the morning - the living room / chill area closes at around 9.30pm so there wasn’t anything to do in the evening times - we asked a member of staff if there was a shuttle going to the greyhound the next morning and she said no, but another member of staff said there was so it was a bit confusing?
