Lovely hotel and kind welcoming staff. Great location for the beach shops and restaurants. Really pleased I chose to stay here, the reviews don’t lie

Nothing at all

Amazing location with the absolutely nicest staff. So many things to borrow - basically everything you need in towels, beach chairs and even bikes!

Ryan the dog was the cutest! everything is included in the room beyond what you think. Free DVD collection, board games, water and ice plus all the eskies you could ever dream of. Bikes, towels, trolleys. Myra and the girls do a fantastic job! won't stay anywhere else in Tropical North Queensland. Port Douglas is lucky to have this beautiful location right next to Four Mile Beach :) Plus the Webber bbq sure got a workout on the balcony!

Only staying such a short time.... next time we promise we'll stay longer!

It's a fabulous location. We chose the ' Cosy' room, but were pleasantly surprised at the nice aspect, tho we had been warned about the Council diggings beyond our tiny terrace at this time. But very pleased at the cleanliness of the room, the BBQ we were encouraged to use & all the little details that helped our stay in a practical way- like boxes of tissues, paper towel in the kitchen, fresh spare towels, free Netflix access & even spare batteries for the remote! Staff casual but friendly & a large range of beach accessories available.Also, the trust shown by allowing payment for your bill AS YOU LEFT was quite refreshing.

Only small room design faults- kitchen so small that any cooking steam is a worry about setting off the smoke alarm. Also, apart from opening the windows, an exhaust fan in the bathroom would help dry out the bathroom towels more quickly. But these were minor faults overall, the presentation of the room could not be faulted.

By the Sea couldn’t be more perfectly located! It is within 2 mins walk to the beach and at one end of the main street where majority of the restaurants and shops are. By the Sea apartment is very spacious and full equipped even with a BBQ on the balcony. It is the best equipment apartment I have stayed and everything is thought of to make your stay feel like home away from home. For outings, picnics, etc… the girls have really made a great effort to ensure you are well supplied from eskis, ice, picnic tables & chairs, tableware, blankets, beach trolleys, parasols, bicycles, noodles, beach toys and games, and more! They have thought of almost everything to make your holiday comfortable and relax.

Nothing that I can think of as I was overwhelmed by the thoughtfulness of this resort

Staff were amazing and offered helpful advice on what to see and do. Location was great as I didn’t hire a car so was able to walk to shops and restaurants. The use of all the equipment was a great help. Kids enjoyed the pool inflatables and use of board games for in the room.

It may not be the fanciest accommodation but suited us for apartment style and location. Beach was disappointing as it’s just a section roped off that gives more rock pool vibes then beach. We were warned, perhaps just had hoped it would be a bit more “fun” for teenagers.

First of all was the perfect location which was so close to the beach and only a short walk from the centre of town. The amenities were better than we had expected and would be perfect for families with children as there’s plenty of equipment, for both beach and other outdoor activities, all for the use of guest with no extra costs Very unexpected The staff were also fantastic Nothing was too much trouble and they were very friendly and helpful Loved this place. Nice quiet location as well!!

I can’t fault it unless you’re expecting sea views from all units. Only the top floor has this but that’s only a small issue as it’s only a short walk from the main beach which makes up for that

The place was FANTASTIC! I was nervous about the after hours check in (1am) when no one was there but it could not have been easier! The room was cozy, super clean and you could tell every detail had been attended to. View to the beach was good and you had everything in the room and small kitchen you could need. Tons of fun stuff in the reception area for guests (books, DVD's, bikes, floats, etc). Every employee we spoke to was super nice, welcoming and helpful. Hats off to the ladies!! We loved strolling down the main drag to shop, go to the grocery, and even walk to the marina to get our snorkel trip. I wish we could have stayed longer!

wish we had more time here. We did not eat at Rattle and Hum and I really wanted to but we ran out of time!

I LOVED EVERYTHING! The staff is fantastic, the location is superb, my room was very clean and exceptionally comfortable. The pool is really nice and everything for a 2 minute walk to the beach is provided: towels, floaties, coolers, chairs, and even a cart to carry everything. There are even a couple of nice bicycles to use! Before my arrival, I'd been in touch multiple times with the staff because my flights kept getting changed. The women at By The Sea booked my airport transportation for me and ensured that even through 4 or 5 changes, I was taken care of getting from and back to the airport in Cairns. They also booked me a great half day tour to Mossman Gorge and Daintree Rain Forest. I highly recommend staying at By The Sea of in Port Douglas. It's a wonderful place to rest!

I loved everything!

Fabulous location only a few metres from Four Mile Beach. Excellent communication from our hosts after booking and prior to arrival. Lovely ladies (and gent) in reception. Had an upgraded room on arrival. Lovely clean facilities and utilised barbecue on the balcony. Also the ice cube machine and water cooler in reception. Plus the opportunity to lend so many items like beach towels, trolleys, ice cooler boxes, umbrellas. The list was endless. Would recommend trip up to the viewing post. Food wise highly recommend Melaleuca…fab meal. Brilliant stay and happy to recommend
