This property was good value. The rooms have been nicely renovated and and the lakeside location was lovely. There is a large porch with seating and easy access to the large grassy area lakeside. We didn’t hear noise from other guests as is sometimes noted in motel style accommodation. There was a good breakfast provided in the large lakeside breakfast room. The host went out of his way to ensure our stay was comfortable. I would definitely stay here again.

Including breakfast while we're staying is absolutely a good factor why we chose this place. Hardworking staff. Awesome place to enjoy the nature,specially their lakeview.

I observe the back lawn,it'll need more to taking care of. Keeping away the geese,will help. However, great place to enjoy amd stay.

Room was fine, great view, air conditioning worked well but it was very loud. Friendly staff. Good breakfast. Good price.

Location, did not realize that the property was 10-15 out of Baddeck. There is a ‘cafe’ on site, food options are limited to deep fried chicken or fish. The place is old and in need of some major repairs for safety. There is indoor/outdoor carpet everywhere and it is worn out and full of large holes. There were tripping hazards everywhere. Outdoor stairs were rotten, newel posts were loose. The toilet was not attached to the floor. There were issues with the electrical.

The Trailsman Lodge is centrally located on Cape Breton and a great base for traveling the Cabot Trail and visiting the Sydney area. The Lodge is on the eastern shore of Bras D’Or Lake with beautiful views, sunrises and sunsets. The Alexander Graham Bell Museum and Gaelic College of St. Ann are nearby and great jewels to visit. The lodge has a dining room overlooking the lake and served a full buffet breakfast and a limited menu of mostly fried foods during the day. The room was clean and spacious, and the bed very comfortable. We stayed 4 nights to explore the geography, Scottish history and attend several ceilidhs.

The pillows were too plump for our taste, but we did not ask for thinner ones.

All of the rooms face the lake, with a door going out onto a deck overlooking the lake and property. The room was very nicely furnished, and the room darkening blinds were an added bonus for comfortable sleeping. There was a delicious self-serve hot or cold breakfast each morning in the dining room also overlooking the lake.

The cleaning of our room was a little less than desired because there were former guests’ towels discarded under the sink, there was a beer in the fridge, and used coffee grounds in the coffee maker. Everything else seemed very clean.

The breakfast was exceptional and wow what a great variety of choices well done!! The fried chicken also was out of this world and great value for your money. I love how clean the facilities where, bathrooms and shower was spotless!! Clean bed and room. The service and cleanliness was better then a five star! The owner is a great talker and I loved how he treated everyone in the morning at breakfast. Excellent people skills. His staff was also exceptional and very friendly and helpful. The view was very relaxing and beautiful.

There’s nothing I can say negative about this place we loved our stay. Everything was above what we expected.

Views of the lake, Location is close to Baddeck town. In few minutes one can reach to Baddeck for more food options. They upgraded us to a better room at no additional cost. Overall it is a very relaxing place. Breakfast had lot of options. Beautiful dining room overlooking the lake. We very much enjoyed our stay. Thanks to Mr. Bhatti.

Wi-Fi was very poor. TV channels were also not working properly, though we were not into watching TV

Very accommodating at check in. We traveled with our daughter, son in law and grandkids and he put us in an adjoining room. The rooms were cleaned every day and the cleaning staff arranged our granddaughters teddy bears differently every day which delighted her immensely. The included breakfast was plentiful, hot and fresh. We are already planning our next stay there.

We loved that there was an on-site restaurant and that it was open as late as it was. We didn't need to go that late but we appreciate that others would. Front desk reception was extremely welcoming, friendly, helpful. Having a hot breakfast with so much selection was greatly appreciated. There really was something for everyone and it was the perfect way to start the day. Facility was clean, rooms were clean and it was nice to have a mini fridge in the room. It was also nice to have sitting areas by each set of rooms. Really convenient and encouraged us to enjoy a summer's evening with the rest of our party.

All of the dinner options included a can of pop, but all pop was regular. This is not diabetes-friendly or appropriate for those who need to limit their sugar intake for other reasons. I would recommend having diet pop and water options. It would be nice to have vegan or vegetarian options on the menu. It's a little thing, but please switch to Heinz ketchup. That no-name stuff was awful. Water pressure in the shower was pretty weak. Not sure there is anything that can be done about that. Air conditioner in the room, while appreciated, was very noisy.

Well appointed. Very clean! Pleasant and helpful staff. The location was on the lake with seating on the gentle slope leading to a dock. There was a swimming pool, a trampoline, a fire pit, and a deck attached to the dining room. No food was permitted to leave the dining area which must have helped with the cleanliness of the grounds and the motel. Great idea.

I thought we would have a balcony attached to our room, facing the water. Not sufficient parking. Upon our return from our evening outing we had to park on the grassy area under the trees. The spot where we had been told we should park at check-in and which we had done was filled later in the evening and there was nothing else available.
