Location in Picton and the House itself are amazing - so much local history and decor was impressive. Book shelves and historical items were so interesting. Really liked the small "gift" shop with eclectic items and the cookies at bedtime were a nice touch. Great room. Fantastic bathroom and shower head was superb! Wish we could have spent more time there.

There is almost no negatives to our stay but if you had to press me I would say: The aircon was on full blast in the sitting rooms making them a bit uncomfortable to sit in. We turned it down a few times but it was always reset. A few more seating areas outside would have been good; the three there were good but only one was comfy (one was stone seats and the other high chairs against barrels). Again these were minor compared to the overall great experience we had.

Merrill House is a boutique hotel, with a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes you want to stay. I felt like was staying at someone’s home! The staff are exceptional. Friendly, funny and charming. We are definitely returning for longer this time. Our room was clean, the assortment of robes was a bonus. The bed quite comfortable. We also had dinner at Merrill House and it was impeccable. They were great accommodating my dietary restrictions.

We paid $45 for early check in and did our check-in online to speed up the process as we had limited time to get ready and quickly leave for a wedding. When we arrived, the woman at reception was on the phone in the back room (about napkins?) and did not acknowledge us for a good 10 minutes or so despite the door being open. Once she finally got off the phone, it still took another 10 or so minutes to finally get the keys. While Merrill House is a lovely place, the cost seemed exceptionally high for Picton.

We are all over 60 and cannot eat massive breakfasts. It would have been more likely that we would have had breakfast with you if there had been a smaller, healthy option. As it was we went to the Bean counter. The drinks on the patio was a lovely touch and your staff couldn't have been more accomodating.

The concierge was kind and took our bags up the stairs. My husband has a back condition and one knee that will have to be replaced. We were on the 3rd floor. All is well that ends well, but I probably should have mentioned it.

Service throughout the whole weekend was gracious, thoughtful, and warm. The breakfasts we had were gourmet fantastic! We found the accommodations and decor were absolutely delightful and charming. Especially appreciated the inclusion of Indigenous history from the area. The whole experience was amazing. Appreciated the location within walking distance to tremendous restaurants.

Honestly can't think of anything to improve!

Merrill House was a truly beautiful, romantic and unique stay. Breakfast was included in one of our nights and this is no "continental buffet" - it's a large delectable meal in their petite but beautiful restaurant. The decor in the rooms and especially throughout the house was absolutely stunning - lots to look at and photograph! When we asked last minute to have dinner the second night, their restaurant was full so they set up an impromptu dining room in the salon for some guests and visitors - it was a special and intimate meal where we all got to chatting over our Countylicious suppers. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful - they refrigerated my pumped milk every time. We also enjoyed the VR experience games and the shops nearby.

The wifi was very off and on and unreliable. They did everything they could to help us out, and we had data (but we wanted to watch a movie on the tv).

Wonderful place for rest. We chose Merril House to celebrate my husband's birthday and have not regretted it for a second. Beautiful, clean, intimate, amazing team of staff. Dining was on par with restaurants on the Champs Elysees in Paris. Special thanks to concierge Sean, Dinner server Susan and Breakfast server Joselyne. Always smiling, attentive, ready to help at any request made our stay unforgettable. We will be happy to return and recommend to our children.

Although I arrived hours earlier than my check in time, I was greeted by coffee in the backyard and a free upgrade to the owner’s suite as my room was not yet cleaned. What a wonderful way to start my stay. The staff I encountered were all very friendly and professional and clearly enjoyed their jobs. Breakfast was also of very high quality,equal to a fine restaurant. My room was a wonderful sensory experience from the ornate wallpaper and antiques to the wall hangings.I felt like I was staying in a museum.The documentation of the family history of Merrill House also added to the intrigue of the hotel.

Prices for wine from the fridge were lacking and would have been helpful.

Our room was very big with a great minibar and coffee (Nespresso). The shower was great and overall a very nice bathroom, though a little more counter space would have been great as the vanity was the old fashioned kind (maybe an extra glass shelf.) Staff were very attentive and tried to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Breakfast was delicious. We would have liked a slighter larger portion of fruit and the French press coffee wasn't very strong, however. The decor of the lounge areas is very eclectic and fun and the outdoor seating area with fire pit is great. The location is ideal as Merrill House is on the Main Street of Picton, within walking distance to restaurants and the farmer's market.

We had the front room on the left and although it was huge, it wasn't as quiet as we would have liked. This is an historic inn/old mansion so we didn't expect the rooms to be soundproofed. It was our bad luck to have noisy upstairs neighbours who were up early and a wedding going on late at the venue next door. I wished I had requested a quiet room however because I'm a light sleeper and wanted to sleep late. Now I know for next time! The management staff were very understanding and did give us a small discount on the room rate to compensate for our issues with the noise level.

Merrill House is old and unique and we love that. Our room on the third floor was comfortable and the shower was fantastic! The breakfast was outstanding and so were all the staff. Housekeeping helped us figure out the espresso machine and were very accommodating in providing extra face cloths! Jessica, Tina, Jocelyn and Sean were always ready to answer our questions about the area. The wait staff at breakfast were friendly and attentive. We would recommend this as a destination! First class establishment!!!
