It's rare to find hosts like Eric and Sharon, with such attention to detail that you feel right at home from the first minute. The 6 villas are located on a beautiful estate just a 10 minute drive or 30 minute walk down the beach to Puerto Viejo Downtown. They are all well equipped with kitchen, refrigerator, air conditioning, even yoga mats and plenty of towels. They also have a nice terrace where you can enjoy the gardens. In the morning, they will bring you coffee to wake you up for a delicious breakfast that will give you enough energy to start your day. If you are comparing process, you'll see they are not the most expensive but also not the most cheap property in Puerto Viejo, but they are totally worth it.

That I had to leave!

Great location between the two national parks in the area (Cahuita to the north and Vida Silvestre to the south, both highly recommended) and within a short walk of a beach that you will almost have to yourself via a private gate. Eric and Sharon are extremely friendly and effective hosts and have a great friendly staff. Breakfast is a highlight of that service, coffee at your doorstep in a thermos at 6:30am and a home cooked meal near the pool when you are ready. The Villas are very comfortable and has a nice mini-kitchen with fridge - you can cook meals if you need a break from restaurants - and very private. Nice private deck outside of room that looks into the garden. We were able to see Toucans and a sloth without moving an inch from our chairs. Away from the beach and other major things so very quiet outside of the animals you came here to hear.

The property and hosts are fabulous. The room was clean, comfy, with everything you need from a range of bath towels, to kitchen utensils, to a perfectly hot shower. The balcony space was great and we were very fortunate to have a sloth in the tree in front of our villa for our two night stay! The hosts were fantastic and made us feel very welcomed. Breakfast was lovely and having hot water for a morning cuppa was a nice touch. The pool is clean and a range of beach towels, sun cream etc. is available. The property is very close to the beach, a small minimart, and bar/restaurants. A short drive out of the villa is a small town with a range of shops, restaurants and bars. Car parking was secure. We would definitely stay again and highly recommend!

The property was lush with flora and fauna. Eric and Sharon created an oasis for the villas that attract beautiful birds and wildlife. Eric gave us a tour, describing the tropical plants and uses, such as the Ginger Shampoo plant. The individual villas are situated for utmost privacy. The open air eating area allowed you to dine in the midst of the beauty with all the conveniences of being served breakfast. Close to two Nacional Parks, Villa Pinas is centrally located. Eric and Sharon are quick to offer suggestions for your destinations and dining enjoyment. They have a private pathway to Playa Negra, making it a short 15 minute walk to the beach.

We have to search hard to find something we didn’t like. However, when we mentioned the difficulties in regulating the hot and cold water for our showers, Eric was quick to respond in fixing the problem. Eric and Sharon work hard to create a stress free vacation for their guests, who quickly become friends.

I liked basically everything about this hotel. Anyone staying here would be hard pressed to find anything they DON'T like. It was wonderful. The owner is a great guy, very helpful and knowledgeable about everything. His property, plants, and trees are amazing! The property is a short walk to the beach. Breakfast was wonderful, and the villa very safe and secure. For everything I loved about my stay, by far my favorite was the shower... Water pressure, temperature and the design of the bathroom very nice. There is a pool, which I didn't think I'd actually use, but it was also very nice and I used it more than I thought. The price was a great value and he could honestly charge more and be justified. I really hope to have another chance to stay at this hotel again in the future.

I would love to say there was nothing I didn't like, But since I'm asked, I can always find something.. First let me say again the hotel is amazing in every way, and you do yourself a disservice if you don't stay here. However... The towels while clean and carefully folded or rolled, smelled horrendous.. The owner probably uses some environmentally friendly natural detergent made from snail shells or something. I don't know that for sure, but the smell of the clean towels was difficult for me... But it's an easy fix, and you might not notice and maybe just a me thing.. But there was nothing else I didn't like even if I try to think of something. Villa Pina is great!

Spent the weekend with two friends, and I have zero regrets. The place is wonderful, with its own garden (just like the pics!!). It is also located at a very convenient point. Beach is at a walkable distance with a private gate/entrance, and the town is around 10min away by car. Breakfasts were really tasty and good in portion. We even had coffee on our balcony each day. But the best of all was the hospitality of the host (Eric). He was always attentive to our needs and had great recommendations for the zone. I would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful private villas in a secluded area near Puerto Viejo, complete with resident sloths :) and a super friendly staff. Breakfast is PHENOMENAL. The hammocks are a huge plus. Pool is clean and beautiful, lots of animals around, gorgeous garden and villa terraces where they provide you with morning coffee. We loved hearing the birds at dawn while drinking our coffee. The hosts were super helpful and provided excellent tips, and went out of their way to help us with small issues.

Wifi could be stronger as cell reception is poor. Also, there was a ~1-inch crack in the sliding door and below the windows just due to the way it had to be designed, we were told, and that led to pesky mosquitoes coming in at night. Ideally that would be fixed, or they’d add a sliding screen / window screen to prevent this (also might lower AC electricity costs on cooler nights), or they’d provide us with a mosquito net for the bed. Didn’t appreciate waking up with 10+ bites every day. Otherwise, lovely stay overall.

Villas Pina is a little heaven on earth and even though we stayed for 4nights I really wish we would have stayed longer. Will absolutely come back. There is so much good to say about this accommodation that I don't even know where to start. - First of all hosts... From the second we arrived we have felt so seen and taken cared of and immediately felt like home. Eric and Sharon have been beyond helpful and caring. They shared with us all the best attractions and food places, introduced us to the animals around, took great interest in us every single day, helped to book amazing tour for my husbands birthday, helped us order food and what not! There communication and care was above and beyond and I really really hope we will get a chance to come back one day again! - Room was super comfortable, very clean and had all the amenities you could need! Each villa has amazing patio and our had a view to a sloth that lived in a tree just in front. Gardens around the villas are super gorgeous and you just feel like you are in a tropical heaven. - location is also absolutely amazing. Few minutes walk from the beach, supermarket, restourant and short drive to puerto Viejo. The neighbourhood felt so quite and safe. -- we had absolutely the best breakfast there. Everyday you get fresh juices of the day, fruits, eggs however you like it and another dish of that specific day. It has been so good, I am still dreaming about it :) -- every morning we would get coffee just by our door to start the day - it felt so amazing.

There is absolutely nothing we didn't like :)

Words are not enough to describe this place. Erik went above and beyond to make our stay incredible. The villas are beautifully designed, comfortable and well equipped. We had a lot of towels, beach towels, mosquitos cream and suncream to use. The gardens are super well kept, they have sloths around the area, and you can spot them. Every morning we would have fresh coffee delivered to our villa, and when we mentioned that we didn't drink regular milk, Erik remembered and replaced it for almond milk. Lastly, the breakfast - AMAZING. Everything is freshly made, they have typical food, fresh fruit and the best empanadas we had of my life. If you are planning a stay in Puerto Viejo, this is the place. You will absolutely not regret it. The only I regret is not staying longer. Thank you Erik, Betty&Winston (that are also great hosts).

I love the villa we had, is is roomy, well appointed, spotless and comfortable and have a small kitchenette. The property owners Eric and Sharon are wonderful. They care so much about the local wildlife and have several sloths that live on the property as well as some other nocturnal animals they know visit the grounds at night. They also have adopted homeless dogs and cats that were sweet and friendly. They also assisted us with anything we needed or wanted to do, they know it all. I loved the tiny poison dart frogs the birds and the sloths at the property and in the area. The property is in a short walking distance from the beach and a local restaurant/bar. I would probably get a car rental next time I go to Puerto Viejo.

Having to take taxis everywhere - I should have rented a car.
