Brilliant hotel a short distance away from the Alamo and other certain car hire places. There was secure off road parking too, which helped a lot. Beds are gigantic and comfortable. We had a tasty meal brought to our room by the on-site Chinese restaurant. We didn’t walk around too much but there was a local small supermarket and a Macdonalds very near by. We had to leave too early for breakfast but reception had arranged a wake up call for us and some fruit and snacks. She hadn’t told us about this, just paid attention to our plans which she asked us about and then as we were leaving the hotel offered us our snacks for our long drive the next day. The last thing to say is that the hotel was very clean, both in the rooms and communal spaces. I’d definitely stay here again.

The staff was amazing. I stayed for 2 nights following out-patient surgery at a nearby clinic. The staff let me check-in and drop off my stuff at 7 a.m. - then they took it all up to my room for me while I had my surgery. Afterward, they assisted me to my room because I was still groggy from the general anesthesia. I was hungry since I hadn't eaten all day, but my stomach was a little off, so they had soup from the restaurant sent up for me right away. They arranged for a min-fridge in my room. They also made a point of asking how I was doing and if I needed help with anything. They were very kind and sympathetic. I was there alone, so their care was greatly appreciated. The hotel was beautiful and nicely decorated. The bed and pillows were comfortable. I had an inner room with a court-yard view, and everything was very quiet. Got great Wi-Fi at the room (2nd floor in the middle) - used my laptop to stream movies with no problems. The restaurant is attached to the lobby. It has Asian cuisine, but the manager had them make me a chicken sandwich special because my stomach was still sensitive even later that night. They were so kind and helpful. And the restaurant had really good food. The parking was also very easy, and they always had someone watching the vehicles. The breakfast was included and was good as well. It had typical Costa Rican fare like beans and rice, eggs, and fried plantains. They also offered toast, muffins, a few different types of cereal and granola, coffee, juice, milk, as well as various fruits and yogurt. I can't remember if there was a meat choice offered as well. I highly recommend this hotel. You won't be disappointed.

This isn't a complaint - just an FYI - as with the majority of San Jose hotels, the cable provider they use has almost all of the programming in Spanish (it is a Spanish-speaking country after all). So, if you are an English-only speaker, you might be out of luck if you want to watch TV. They might have a way to switch it to English or add subtitles through the controls, so you will have to ask. I just used my laptop to watch TV/movies.

Honestly, what impressed me at first was the smell or lack thereof. Due to having allergies for years my ability to smell is almost non-existent. It is rare for me to smell anything but when I do it is generally non pleasant. Hotels tend to have a certain smell about them that I can detect but do not like. This place was not like that. The only smell I ever noticed was the cleaner that was used for the rooms and I couldn't smell that after a few minutes. I was very pleased about the whole experience. The hotel was exceptionally clean. The staff took their job seriously and did a great job. At night, there was always a security person standing outside the front door. (Polite and would even open the door for you.) This was the location that Uber and taxis would do the pick-up and drop-off of passengers and food. It well light at night and with the security person being right there you never had a second thought about stepping outside regardless of how late it was. I cannot say enough about how friendly and helpful the staff was. Jorge at the front desk was exceptional. Whenever we had questions about locations or places to visit, he always took extra time to visit with us and offer insight. My wife and I wanted to travel to a certain place in the mountains but we didn't like any of the tours that were offered because of times and excessive pricing. Jorge connected us with a driver that took us there, waited and then brought us back. We ended up spending about half what it would have cost us otherwise. I cannot express how much we appreciated all the extra effort Jorge put in to make our stay better. We ate breakfast at the hotel each morning. It was very good and the lady who did the serving was always so pleasant and friendly. My wife wanted me to mention that the atmosphere and decoration was elegant and cozy. If you are going to be in San Jose and need a place to stay, my wife and I highly recommend the Isla Verde Hotel.

We were very pleased with the choice. The location of the hotel is convenient if you are staying overnight on the first day of arrival and going to the Caribbean coast the next day. Near the hotel there is a shopping center where you can withdraw money and buy everything you need for the trip. It was important for us that the hotel has a restaurant and in the evening until 21:00 you can have dinner without going into the city. Tasty breakfast. Friendly and attentive staff. The rooms are ordinary, but there is everything you need for a comfortable start of your trip.

I had a reservation for the first night in Costa Rica, but I had to change plans in the same day I was suppose to check in, the hotel staff was courteous and nice to change my reservation to the end of my trip without charge. The staff is friendly and fast in handling the check in. The hotel is well maintained and the decoration is fresh, which includes an indoor garden, and makes you feel welcome. The room is spacious and it was very clean, the shower was hot with enough water for a good bath to recover the body after many days enjoying Costa Rica.

The location is a little bit far from downtown, but it was not a problem for us who are accustomed with traffic jams.

We stayed here for our first night, before heading to the Caribbean side the next day - it was about 35mins from the airport with traffic. They made us feel super welcome and the room is good value for money. They have parking spaces available for guests and an Asian style restaurant that we tried for dinner which was good! Lots to choose from. I definitely would recommend for anyone looking for a place to stay either arriving to Costa Rica or departing !

A comfortable and really clean facility. The personnel at the Front Desk really friendly and courteous. The call me by my name, making feel as the only guest. I ate a fresh and delicious meal at the Chinese Restaurant at the hotel. I have a parking space next to the main entrance, really convenient. The breakfast provided was good and enough for brunch and their service was good.

This is a really welcoming boutique hotel where we stayed one night after arriving in San Jose from London. The reception staff were very helpful when we arrived a little later than planned, and provided complimentary coffees and drinks as the restaurant had closed for the night. Our room was well-equipped and comfortable, and was good value for money. We would have stayed again on our return to San Jose at the end of our holiday but the hotel was closed for refurbishment. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice of local dishes and fresh fruit. Waiting staff were very friendly and everyone made us feel welcome. This was a great start to our holiday in Costa Rica and we would stay again.

Not much to fault here. Our airport pickup didn't show, for which the hotel management were very apologetic, but it didn't spoil the overall experience - that said, they should have checked. Otherwise, Hotel Isla Verde ticked all the boxes 😁

The decor, room and facilities were all beautiful, you can tell they really put in a lot of thought into every detail for it to look that good. The food from the restaurant was also delicious and with tons of variety, I was very surprised that they carried a whole gluten-free menu (i’m celiac so you can imagine how happy I was when i found out about their menu). The staff was also wonderful -Dora was the sweetest! The location was good, maybe not walking distance from everything, but hey, no place will be walking distance from everything. However its still a good location because it’s in between different areas (downtown, malls, parks, etc) so ubering was super easy (and cheap) to different places. Overall great place and staff, also felt super safe and welcome the whole time. 10/10 recommend!

Absolutely amazing staff! Especially Veronica and Jorge (and one other young woman whose name I forget!) who went above and beyond to help us book things and get where we needed - we were so impressed with them we changed our booking on return to San Jose to stay with them again! Nice hotel feel with a little plant garden area, definitely get the upgraded room as there is more light and the rooms are more spacious. Comfortable beds, good breakfast. This place changed our whole holiday because of how good the staff were!

There is a slight hangover feel of an old smoking hotel to the place, as though most but not all hallways/carpets etc have been renovated from the past. The location is a little far from things but if you have a car (parking on site) or are just passing through San Jose it doesn't matter. We would stay again.
