Well, the location is the real winner, with an outlook which can hardly be beaten, over the Nile and the East Bank, including the whole of Luxor Temple. The view from the river-side rooms is amazing, and even better from the top-floor restaurant. Looking out from the balcony or terrace you can savour the unique atmosphere of this intoxicating city, with the call to prayer, the boats, the local traffic and the children playing in the street all combined together. Ahmad welcomed me warmly and was constantly calm, helpful and supportive throughout my stay, including giving reliable advice on local matters. He put together for me a day of sightseeing around the ancient treasures of the West Bank, with a local driver and guide. Both men were great characters, and the guide (Harajah?) was absolutely terrific. He really knew and loved his subject, and had a great sense of humour. I was given time to enjoy every site we visited without feeling any pressure of time. A really great day. The food at breakfast was homely and delicious, served graciously, and breakfast every morning with that view is something I will not forget. The atmosphere is so relaxed, and there was no problem when I appeared late on a few mornings! I only ate in the restaurant on one evening, but the Baba Ghanoush was the best I have ever had! I certainly hope to stay here again before too long.

It is not always terribly peaceful at night - for example, a couple of times during my week stay a very noisy gathering of minibuses turned up and hovered outside the hotel for some time, around 4am. It turned out to be tourists arriving to get to their hot air balloon rides near the hotel. This is not a complaint, as I got back to sleep again and it did not take away from the happy stay I had here, but just for an honest picture, that even the (charming) West Bank of Luxor is not very often really quiet!

We stayed in the third floor suite. It was very quiet with comfy beds. The location was perfect, very near the ferry dock to take you to the east bank. Ahmed was extremely helpful in arranging tours, etc. Our tour guide Hafiz was great if you are looking for an english speaker.

The room could have used a couple of small tables. Furniture was very sparse. Not much room to set anything.

Excellent breakfast, bedroom very clean, and so QUIET, especially compared to where I stayed on the east bank. Breakfast is on a roof terrace with a gorgeous view of the Nile, you can also have dinner there, or go the vegetarian restaurant around the corner. The hotel is a short walk from the public ferry, which cost me 15 Egyptian pounds one-way and drops you off near Luxor museum. From there you can walk along the river to Luxor temple, or to Karnak temple. Had no issues crossing. You can also hire a boat, that costs about 100 Egyptian. The hotel staff arranged to pick me up from the train station, and it was the fastest transfer I have ever experienced anywhere - I was handed off from taxi driver to boat driver to the hotel staff with military efficiency! Hotel will help you organize excursions but this was my second time in Luxor so I just chilled. The staff are very helpful, and arranged to have my luggage sent home by DHL (plane ticket fine print snafu). Would definitely recommend!

The location was great, just opposite from the public ferry which takes you into the heart of Luxor. The room was great, the staff were very friendly.

The breakfast was OK, but nothing special - having a few more items would have been nice as it lacked substance.

My son and I traveled in Egypt for 8 days at the end of October 2024. Part of our trip included 2 ½ days and 2 nights in Luxor. El Mesala Hotel was great for its location and experiencing the west bank. Amed was a great help in arranging a guide for touring the East bank of Luxor and a sunset Felucca ride on the Nile. The view from balcony of our room of the Nile and across to the East bank was great. The view from the restaurant on the top of the hotel was even better, nothing like eating, drinking, and relaxing while taking in Nile and Luxor. The food was good and plenty of it at the restaurant. I highly recommend El Mesala Hotel for your stay in Luxor and will say if you don’t stay El Mesala Hotel you made a mistake. JTH

There was nothing that we did not like.

If you are looking for a hotel with the best view of the temples in Luxor and easy access to the Valley of the Kings and other attractions on the west side of the Nile then you have come to the right place. The view from the hotel room on the Luxor Temples is amazing and even better from the restaurant located on the roof top. The rooms are spacious, the beds very comfortable and everything works as it should. A big bonus is the balcony with a beautiful view. The hotel manager Ryan is very friendly and helpful - he presented us with very clear and concise options for tours and access to attractions. In a very professional manner he presented us with the hotel offers which turned out to be very attractive and at very good prices.The hotel service as well as the restaurant is at a very high level - the food is delicious and everyone can find something for themselves. The pool was open during our stay, the water was clean and at the right temperature, I recommend this hotel with a clear conscience and thank Ryan for the nice time spent!

I loved the location. Especially front view with sunrise behind the Luxor skyline (temple and all) and with call to prayer on a Friday. Beautiful location to eat your in restaurant. Breakfast was good with friendly staff who always tried to please.Management very helpful and concerned that you are safe and enjoying your stay. A true Egyptian experience with a good atmosphere. Not 5 star but authentic with a little hub bub and yet little noisy traffic. Just what I wanted. Front view definitely made it for me.

Needs more attention to maintaining appliances in room. (eg. Heater). More attention to finite cleaning requirements (eh. Light switches) Lovely restaurant area on roof level could cause issues for those with mobility issues. While you can do stairs, well worth the effort though.

Great sized room, super friendly team working there with a lovely rooftop restaurant serving great food. You are right next to the ferry spots (both public and for private boats) and near to the Valley of the Kings so it is a perfect spot for sightseeing. It was family run and we really felt part of the family while we were there. Osama helped us to book any activities we needed including transfers, and everything he booked was great so if you are looking to book Luxor I would suggest waiting and booking your activities with the hotel once you arrive. The pool was a lovely touch for us to be able to relax after the hot long days!

Nothing, everything was great.

View over the Nile, free breakfast, cheese I all ways forward to, good omelette, staff fantastic, very young but were very intelligent and savvy with hassles outside the hotel, felt well informed. Had an issue with TV, towels and the room to be cleaned, sorted immediately, without being ignored or forgotten about.

Not the hotels problem, but minibuses would gather outside the hotel at 4am, so find a rear room. But the future looks even busier due a new coach area just being finished and opening soon, just more traffic and noise ,day and night.

The location right by the Nile is tops, and the pool is good after a hot day trudging through the temples and tombs. Also, the roof terrace has a nice view.

In common with a lot in Egypt the maintenance and cleanliness of the hotel is poor, don't look in the kitchen! A kettle in the bedroom would be nice but as not supplied I had to get water from kitchen to make coffee
