I’ve been travelling for 6 months and it’s nice to finally have had a little place that felt like I was at home. Tại Lo and all of the staff are so kind and welcoming. It feels like you’re part of the family from the minute you arrive. I haven’t felt this as much on any other islands here. I learned so much about the family and Fijian traditions and life here. The food was always varied and plentiful. There are a mix of activities to do and for the most part you can do them whenever you want during the day. The accommodation is basic but it is all that’s needed, it’s clean and everything is close together. Tai Lo even arranged for some staff to drop things to me on another island which I had left behind. Moce & Vinaka
Maybe more equipment/ upgrades. Some snorkels were a little broken and there was a volleyball net but no ball.

It has certainly been the best experience of our trip to Fiji. A relaxed, simple, calm and friendly atmosphere. A resort with basic needs covered and the opportunity to enjoy the real life of the Islands. Taylo and the entire team were incredible at all times, making us feel at home. The food is varied, delicious and plentiful. We feel lucky to have enjoyed our vacation at Waya Lailai Eco Heaven.

Our group of 4 liked EVERYTHING about this unique Fijian owned, staffed and managed idyllic island haven. Thanks to Tai Lo for her efficient and relaxed management style. The people are incredibly warm and welcoming. We felt like family after staying for 7 nights. The Fijian daily singing and also at Church is beautiful. The buffet food is yummy, fresh and plentiful. Snorkelling is straight off the beach and the coral is healthy and undamaged. Activities such as the mountain trek, swimming with Manta Rays and medicine walk are all outstanding and good value. The burras and house accommodations are comfortable and immaculately clean, thanks Andie. The bar has wine and beer etc, thanks to Mozzie.
The fact that there was no hot water was not an issue for us

I have been fortunate enough to travel the world for over 20 years, but I have never experienced a welcome as warm and genuine as the one I received here. From the moment we arrived, the entire team made us feel like family. Every person was so kind, attentive, and always ready to help—not in a pushy way, but with a quiet, thoughtful presence that made us feel truly at home. There was no pressure to buy anything or do anything we didn’t want to; they were simply there for us, whenever we needed them. What truly stood out was the sense of connection and authenticity. It wasn’t just about being guests in a resort—it was about becoming part of a community. We spent hours chatting, laughing, and learning about each other’s cultures. Everything felt natural, and we became more than just visitors—we became friends. Our kids felt completely embraced by the local people. They roamed freely around the resort, playing and interacting with the community, which gave us the true Fijian experience we were hoping for. The genuine warmth and acceptance we felt here are something we will cherish forever. I have to mention the unforgettable moment when they sang us a goodbye song. It was the first time in my life I almost cried when leaving a place, not because of the departure itself, but because of the beautiful people who had made our stay so special. You could tell that their kindness was not just part of their job, but a reflection of who they truly are. They made us feel so valued, never once making us feel like we were asking for too much. My dear Fijian friends, you truly exceeded all our expectations. We would come back in a heartbeat if we didn’t live so far away. But as they say, “never say never.” My son, Filip, already said that when he grows up, he will bring his family back to this paradise. Thank you again for giving us 5 unforgettable days. We miss you already. Ema, Filip, Tomaz & Petra

Already longing to return and we have barely left. An absolute gem of a place and anyone who gets the opportunity to stay there should consider themselves lucky. The island itself is absolutely beautiful - the mountains and the grounds make a perfect setting for a relaxing and adventurous holiday. The snorkelling right off the beach is epic - some of the best corals we've seen in years of snorkelling and endless fish life. For us the most special aspects were the people and the music! The resort is run by people of the local community - extremely friendly and hardworking people. In terms of the music - incredible harmonies and you will be lucky enough to hear music multiple times a day. Something unique about this eco resort is, instead of "putting on a show" for us tourists, they moreso make us part of their day-to-day. For example, staff will continue to play music long after the guests have left the area. There are plenty of 'set' activities offered daily, we did nearly every one of them and we also got to be a part of many 'spur of the moment' activities like a group dance, basket weaving, and a campfire - there is volleyball almost every night as well. You will not be bored but can also enjoy time swinging in a hammock and enjoying the views. Delicious food and plenty of it going around! We especially loved the lovo meals (underground cooking). It was easy to eat healthy and feel well-nourished. We loved hearing the Lali (Fijian drum) which let us know it was time to eat. The simple, authentic vibe of this resort may be more suitable to backpacker types and people who are genuinely interested in the culture and way of life. The communal areas and activities lend themselves to a social hostel-like feel (in the best way!). The majority of the people we spent time with have travelled extensively and also appreciated the unique experience of being on Waya Lai Lai.
We feel a little more education about snorkelling and reef care would benefit the resort as some travellers aren't aware of the specifics and in turn could end up damaging this very previous resource and attraction without knowing they are doing so :) Wifi is pretty sparse but I can't imagine needing it (wouldn't recommend it if you are full time working abroad, though). It is an eco resort, so no power for majority of the daytime but you won't even realize if you are soaking up the reasons you came for :)

Everything was perfect - from the musical welcome, to afternoon tea, the staff, the food, the snorkelling. Just The BEST! We loved it here - after travelling for 7 months across the world, this is our most favourite stay. The people here ensured this is a 10/10 location. Lovely large bungalow, sea view, hammocks on the beach, free beach snorkelling. We paid to snorkel with reef sharks - you have to experience this. The food had great variety and was very tasty - you will not go hungry. There was a very friendly communal area for eating, socialising, Kava, reading and watching rugby! THANK YOU to all the staff - Tailo, Nasau, Nathani, Emily and everyone.

We loved everything about our stay here on the island. Tai Lo was so welcoming and delivered an amazing cultural talk on our first night. It was our favourite island by far, and also happened to be the cheapest. It was the only island (we are aware of) that is run by local people and it was a much better experience than the other islands we went to. The accommodation is basic but does the job, we were very happy with ours. The community atmosphere was just lovely, so many friendly people - you can engage with it as much as you like. We are both vegan and the food was just amazing, and there was plenty of it! Snorkelling was fab too! I honestly cannot recommend this resort enough, it was so hard to leave!

Wayalailai Eco Haven is a community enterprise owned by locals; my buddy recommended it, and we booked it. It is completely worth it, and you can really enjoy the aquatic life at this resort. Breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner are served daily at 8 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 15:00 p.m., and 19:00 p.m. Villagers will strike a drum to invite everyone to come. (They also allowed me to beat it hehe). The meal is delicious, and they offer vegetarian options. I went snorkeling with reef sharks and took a community and school tour. They also provide scuba diving to observe bull sharks, fishing, and trekking. The fee for a bure lodging is reasonable, however meals on the island are somewhat expensive. We also tried Kava with the locals, and they sing songs for all tourists every day. There is a gentleman on the island named Joshua who is extremely creative at constructing hats, baskets, and fans out of coconut leaves. All of the villagers are incredibly polite and caring! Thank you very much: Tai lo, Mossi, Saki, Nathan, Abby, and Andy.... This place makes you feel at home. If you're lucky, you might spot a white tip shark while snorkeling along the coast! I spotted one, while my companion saw three. She also noticed sea cucumbers, urchins, nematodes, and squid. The room is clean, with no bed bugs. But be wary of the mosquitoes. I will come back only to see the villagers!
This nice place should advertise themselves more and let people know them!

This was my favourite of the 4 places I stayed in the Yasawas. It was the most expensive, by a small margin, but the best value. My room (a bungalow) was gorgeous, spacious and comfortable and so much better quality than the others I stayed in. The food was good (not the best I had, but good) and plentiful, the afternoon tea a nice and welcome touch. The communal dining/bar area is attractive, cool and overlooks the water. The place is set between an attractive rocky outcrop which you can walk up to. There's fantastic snorkelling amongst amazing coral right off the beach. There are flowers all around the well-tended gardens and an overall gentle, laid-back yet efficient feeling. The staff are friendly and helpful; I was allowed to keep my room long past checkout so I could enjoy my time to the mazimum before getting the boat, as I had only one night. Another time, I'd stay much longer.
Nothing, except the wifi, which came on sporadically but couldn't be relied upon, and didn't reach the rooms.

The best about this place are the people. Lovely, accommodating, smiling. They go out of their way to make your stay memorable: I unfortunately stayed only one night, and missed the morning off-shore snorkeling tour, but they went ahead and organized another one just for me, which allowed me to swim with the reef sharks. The food was generous and filling, and value for money compared to other resorts. I would stay longer the second time around. I walked up the summit just before sunrise, that was so beautiful, I recommend it to everyone. I used open street maps to find my way, but the resort organizes guided tours, which is good for anyone not wanting to walk the path without light.
The showers and toilets connected to the dorm are a little shabby, but nothing to cry about.
