Breathtaking setting in a gorgeous, non-touristy town. The house and lodge were stunning and the location was peaceful, despite being adjacent to a busy road and railway track. The lodge was booked on a self-catering basis but we took breakfast on two mornings and it was varied, fresh and delicious. Jan, our host, was attentive but not intrusive, his English was far superior to my poor French. The lodge was furnished to a very high standard and would not look out of place in a high-end interiors magazine! It had everything we needed for a three night stay with busy itinerary and not much time spent in the room itself.

The lodge is sold as 2-4 persons and there are two nice bedrooms. The seating arrangements, however, don't quite reflect this. My daughter loved the hanging egg chair but it's not something I'd sit in! There was a small, loveseat that could accommodate two VERY snugly and three office-type swivel chairs - not very comfy to relax with a glass of wine. This is a small gripe but I would have liked another comfy chair to relax in the evening after a busy day. The kitchen was equipped prudently and there was enough for us for a short stay and light meals. You could not prepare a full meal, however, so be aware - small side plates, microwave only.

This is just a beautiful hotel and such a surprise. From the road you wouldn’t know it was such a beautiful place, the gardens with hot tub sauna sun terrace are all extra to the inside. The rooms are beautifully decorated clean and comfortable. Unfortunately we were unable to eat there of an evening but the breakfast was freshly made with all home made preserve, pastries, bread and options of cooked items too. This was our last stop on a road trip around Europe and said it was the perfect ending.

The accommodation was absolutely immaculate and a very attractive place to stay. The main house and gardens were beautiful and the children loved the space. They especially liked the lounge which had table football and pool amongst other games. The hosts kindly let us check in a bit early. The beds were very comfortable.

We struggle with continental pillows in general being high/thick/firm and we were glad we bought the children's pillows for them which were shallower.

The property is absolutely beautiful - so stylish and delightful, and the gardens are great. Charming hosts who were very friendly and helpful. It is such amazing good value, it would be at least twice the price in the UK. There is ample secure parking for no extra cost. Dog owners can walk their pets in the front garden which is beautifully landscaped. The back garden is full of amenities to relax. I was worried it wouldn’t be kid-friendly, travelling with my noisy 4 yo and 12 yo to nice places isn’t always easy! But the family room was perfect - a large comfortable double and a large sofa bed, a fabulous bathroom and lovely homely details (water, sweet treats, tea and coffee). Wifi also fine. We were utterly spoiled at breakfast time and the French toast better than any I’ve ever eaten - my kids also loved having freshly squeezed juice and hot chocolate and enjoyed popping into the lounge for a game of pool after breakfast! We chose the location as it was perfect to break our return trip from the Netherlands to Uk. We stayed several nights, spent a lovely day at the beach at Dunkirk (10-15mins drive), and a fantastic day at Plopsaland theme park (about 20-25mins drive). We had a rainy day so we went to a Soft play centre in Dunkirk which was excellent, especially for the older age groups (my 12 yo is growing out of most soft plays but liked this one and we stayed 2.5 hours). There is also a really lovely Park and playgrounds at the nearby Fort (around 7mins drive). It is absolutely worth staying in this little gem of a hotel - we loved every minute!

No negative comments.

We stayed in the annex separate from the main building which suited us because we needed a bedroom on the ground floor. It had 2 bedrooms with 2 double beds--one bedroom on the ground floor and one upstairs and both were very comfortable, a kitchen with dishwasher, a washer, washing up liquid, 2 TV's--one in the living room and the other in the ground floor bedroom. The annex was very tastefully decorated, the shower room was in between the kitchen and the ground floor bedroom. The main house was lovely with a game area including a pool table, and the dining area. The garden was very pretty and included a sauna, 2 jacuzzis, a swing. It was a pity that we didn't have more time to spend there. The hotel is a 20 minute drive south from Dunkirk port. If you ring the doorbell, the staff will let you in to park and give you the code to get back in if you need to go out. The lady who greeted only spoke French so I regaled her with sparkling schoolgirl French. She was very helpful and They had breakfast which was 15 Euros a person which we skipped. We would have had to book dinner if we had wanted to eat there. When we asked about it, the woman said that they could get us a charcuterie board for 15 euros. We chose to go out for dinner instead. All in all, this is a lovely, quiet place to stay. It would have been even nicer had we stayed longer. We all slept really well and we wouldn't hesitate to book again.

I wasn't sure if there was staff that stayed overnight in the main house and if they we were reachable in the night.

An amazingly beautiful place! We had a wonderful stay for two nights.. (2 adults and two children) The building, the garden and the room were just stunning. So much attention to details! The pool and other games were brilliant. The food!!..... The breakfast and dinner were amazing. Probably the best food I've had the pleasure of tasting! Would love to return one day! Thank you!

That we didn't stay longer🤣

This is our second visit to this beautiful property in 2023. We actually took the ferry from rather than Calais so we could stay here for a night! We love the ambience in this property. Another fabulous stay.....beautiful room overlooking the garden. Again, breakfast was plentiful and tasty. Cannot fault this hotel. We will be back...... Thank you!

Nothing to do with the hotel.... We were sad for the owner, (who is very helpful and welcoming) when we played pool the cues had been damaged by a guest and only one was usable.

A stunning property in a quiet, secure area. The room was very spacious, clean, comfortable and beautiful with a gorgeous view of the garden. The facilities within the property e.g. the games room and the sauna rooms are of a very high standard. The attention to detail the host goes to at breakfast is second-to-none, the food delicious, fresh and homemade and the atmosphere relaxing and 5-star. Everything about our stay here was fantastic, we wished we had booked to stay for longer. Highly recommend Au Petit Manoir.

Nothing, everything was exceptional.

We stayed in a courtyard apartment in the garden away from the main house. It was very well appointed and comfortable. As this was a stop before the ferry we could relax, enjoy supper and chill out. We explored the garden and spa facilities but didn't use them. It looked sumptuous though. We received a very friendly welcome.

The WiFi was a little slow. This didn't bother us much.

Nice oasis near the small town of Berques. Friendly service at breakfast. Safe parking on site.

The style is a bit posh ; not per se a bad thing but it was a bit difficult to connect with the place also due to some lack of information. The sauna facilities were in use by a small group of people, it wasn't very clear if we were supposed to stay out of the (nice) garden or not. Some people were having a drink, unclear if we could as well (they might actually have been staff or owners on a break).
