This is a family house of 19thC antiquity with much of the original decor and atmosphere - it feels of Northern France - a time capsule - nothing modern here but the plumbing. I think it has only a four bedrooms of which mine was spacious and had an on-suite bathroom and a separate toilet. My room was "Lady Hamilton" after Nelson's mistress who lived and died in misery in Calais - so I found out from coming here. I learned something new and that's what travelling is about. The host was charming as were his family. Breakfast was continental in that there was no burnt bacon or sausages but a wide range of cereals, breads, petits pains, juices, bref it was a complete european breakfast. It's close to the centre of Calais and public parking, free overnight is very close by if not in front.

The friendly owners were incredibly welcoming. Our room as tastefully decorated and really interesting. We enjoyed the historic theme of the room especially in the local context. The owners went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible given we were with a 2 year old. The cot was set up with a comfy duvet. That our daughter loved. Our departure meant that we would miss breakfast, so a prepared breakfast was arranged the night before. It was lovely. We were able to have this on the ferry on the way home. All in all, we would love to go back. Highly recommend this to anyone visiting Calais.
That we couldn’t take it with us….

The hotel was easy to locate, with on the street parking. The room was clean, comfy, and reasonably quiet, apart from the 5.30am train rattling past nearby. The host was polite and friendly.
The Breakfast basic, the host requested the guest should fill out a breakfast menu the previous evening. The home-made ginger cake was very heavy and under cooked, the slices of bread were thin and small, the hard boiled egg was fridge cold. There was a selection of jams placed on the table. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room...but only 1 tea bag and 1 coffee sachet provided, it would have been nice to have had and extra tea bag!!

Very friendly owners. The room was nicely decorated and clean. In our room the toilet was in a “separate” room from the shower and sink, which we found ok. The shower was large and excellent. We were travelling with car and were able to park directly outside the b&b on a public parking space. We arrived on a Sunday, so there were no charge, during weekdays there will be a fee. We were travelling with our small dogs that were very welcome for a minor fee. We did not use the offer to dine in the evening as we were not sure about our arrival time, but will do so in the future. We did however try some local beer, that we can recommend. The breakfast was excellent.
Fairly steep stairs to get to the room.

The hosts were exceptional and our dinner was the best that we had experienced in France. The room was a good size and the shower was big and had good water pressure. Our room had blackout shutters and the heating worked well. WiFi is strong and reliable throughout. The B&B is located right behind the old theatre building and is in a quiet location but a short walk to all the restaurants. Calais has a free bus service so getting around is cheap and easy. The rooms are all themed and the decor is very well done. Our hosts escorted us to and from the parking space which is in a locked garage about 50 meters away (load and unload in front of the B&B before parking).
The stairs to the top room are a bit narrow and steep but our hosts dragged our suitcases up and back for us old folk. The parking space is a bit small but typical of parking in France but at least it was undercover and secure. Breakfast could have included more fresh fruit such as grapes, berries and bananas for the excellent home made yoghurt. We find the French habit of allowing large dogs in rooms and where people eat to be very unhygienic (especially when the French don't bother to pick up their dog's poo). We usually avoid places that allow dogs.

What an absolute gem! Such attention to detail in every aspect of our stay. A warm welcome from Laurent who showed us to our room. Such a cosy, comfortable, clean room; it is evident a great deal of thought has gone into ensuring total comfort and th needs of guest are met....or indeed exceeded! And breakfast the next day was a real treat...again, so much attention to detail, and thought. Everything was just perfect. Thank you so much. We would highly recommend and hope to be back on a future visit to Calais.
Could not find any fault - just perfect!

Arrived in the late afternoon and was greeted at the door by the lovely host. Instantly felt warmly welcomed. We parked right in front of the hotel for free. The home is charming and rustic and we were delighted that there were cats, a rabbit, and even a hamster making themselves at home here. The room was very well appointed and cozy, with everything we needed for our stay. The history was also very fascinating. In the morning, the breakfast was delicious! Fresh croissants and yummy local cheese. And the homemade yogurt was also fantastic. I'll be staying there again on my way back from the UK and I'm looking forward to it!

Another lovely stay with Natalie and Laurent at Les Secrets de Loges - we managed to find parking as usual close to the front door. We stayed in the Bleriot room this time - my favourite, as although it is not the largest room it has a large comfy bed and is at the rear of the building so has no street noise. Once again we enjoyed a tasty and reasonably priced home cooked meal with our hosts and a very satisfactory breakfast. Only 10 minutes drive to the Eurotunnel terminal so very conveniently located, and also just a short walk from central Calais if you have time to stop and explore.

The breakfast is exceptional - though we had learned from the previous stay not to over-order, so we shared the fruit and the yogout which was still plenty for us. And similarly, we only ordered half the bread as croissant also available.. Nathalie and Laurent are lovely hosts , giving a real family feel to the accommodation. Obviously if you prefer a more remote relationship with your host, it might not suit, though they are careful, I think, to check that like us you want to chat...
There is nothing we don't like about the accommodation and they are so accepting of our somewhat yappy dogs, which is marvellous. From the point of view of taking the dogs out, it is obviously a very urban environment.

We loved staying with our hosts, the room was beautifully decorated and themed and very comfortable. We booked an evening meal with the family which was delicious ( our host was a chef) as was the breakfast and the homemade yogurt. Our hosts joined us for meals and we found the conversation very enjoyable. We were able to park outside and the area was quiet. The location was 15 minutes drive from Le Shuttle, and we walked to the beautiful town hall, canal and parks - our two dogs loved it. Would definitely stay again. Big thank you.
