Smart hotel located in the Alt Stadt area of Dusseldorf, overlooking the bustling Carls Platz and a short walk to the Rhine. Ideal for exploring the little side streets of the Alt Stadt, the impressive shopping thoroughfares of the city and the riverside attractions of the Rhine. Good size double rooms with a large shower room, all tastefully decorated to a fresh, modern standard. We upgraded slightly to a room that incorporated a mini-bar/fridge with a small selection of soft drinks and chilled water, which was very welcome at the time due to the very warm temperatures in the city. A small coffee machine was also available. The room came with plenty of cupboard space for clothes and fresh towels were provided each day.

We decided not to accept the breakfast option charged at 22€ per person. It seemed rather expensive compared to the breakfast options we had enjoyed at other German hotels during our holiday. However, there are plenty of places close to the hotel that offer a range of good healthy breakfast choices for almost half the price!

Excellent location in heart of town, right on the edge of the Altstadt. Very clean and tidy. Easy check-in, plenty of correspondence from the hotel prior to checking in, including an on-line form, which made life easier. Market opposite with street side cafes and bars. Didn't quite manage to make breakfast, as we were out late as there for the Euros but looked good on the one occasion we passed by!

Nothing really, previous reviews mentioned noise but we were on the front of the hotel and it didn't seem too bad to us, local Pils lager probably helped though!! Altstadt lived up to its reputation and Dusseldorf is easily the best city stay for nightlife in the area. Great set-up for the footy down by the river (5min walk) with plenty of bars showing the footy as well as the fanzone. If your heading for the Euros stay in Dusseldorf, it was lively but only limited amounts of hassle and so much choice!

A stunning Boutique hotel in the heat of the old town , location would be hard to beat. All the Staff were really pleasant, happy & professional, especially Emily on Reception. There was 6 of us in our group & I had booked 3 double rooms for 3 Nights B&B stay; it was for 2 big Birthdays (40th & 50th) One of the rooms allocated (010) on the ground floor, was much smaller that the other 2, also a little dark, as its window looked onto a small inner courtyard, but the facilities & décor were exactly the same as the other rooms. However, room 010 backs onto the kitchen & the kitchen noises can be heard early in the morning, my husband was awoken by this & couldn’t get back to sleep, so we asked to be moved. Without hesitation Emily offered us a different room on the floor above, a perfect room , bigger & brighter than what we had. Emily also offered us the suite (411) “subject to an additional fee”, once we viewed the suite, we decided to up-grade. Breakfast was fabulous, loads of choice from a hot & cold buffet & really fresh. We will definitely return.

Location was within walking distance to the shops and restaurants. Breakfast was fab. Room was very clean and spacious.

Nothing I can think of. Would have been nice if the shower head was located above the taps not on the side as it made for standing awkwardly.

The location of the hotel was idea for our trip - right where the old town and river are. Noisy market over the road - but good double glazing kept out any noise.

The aircon was broken during our stay. A fan was supplied to the room - but this was not very effective, and we could not have the windows open as activity in the market commenced around 5am. It was very warm durin our stay - so meant for an uncomfortable sleep.

- really great location, very close to the city center with loads of restaurants and supermarkets nearby - close to subway stations - close to the rhine river and tourist attraction - most things can be reached on foot - incredibly nice staff at the reception - good wifi speed and connection - clean and cozy room

- not enough noise proof, I could hear everything on the corridor and outside with closed windows, but at least my room was not facing the main street - shower doors could be replaced since they looked quite rusty and moldy where a faint weird smell came off, but it was alright just to be at the hotel to sleep for two nights - really bad tv connection, couldn't watch anything on tv - not so great view, my room just faced an old wall - only one elevator, which might lead to quite a bit of waiting time if there is a big group checking in at the same time as you But all in all very clean and amazing location, so I would still recommend this hotel for a short stay!

This will be our first choice of hotel whenever visiting Düsseldorf again. It's central to everything a tourist could want, yet quiet at night despite open windows. Approx ¢35/10-minute taxi journey from/to airport, and the hotel preordered a six-seater car for us. Rooms are of decent size with high-quality furnishings and immaculately clean. Staff members were all helpful whenever needed but otherwise unintrusive. Fantastic place to stay.

It would have been nice to have smaller/cheaper options for breakfast. Some of our party didn't want to eat loads, so we sought alternative places for breakfast rather than paying ¢18 pp.

The Carls Hotel has always been our favourite and has recently been refurbished, which make it feel more welcoming and comfortable. The staff could not be more helpful. The location is perfect for exploring Duesseldorf and the lovely Altstadt and Rhine promenade on foot. Parking in the next door park house is easy and with the entry card provided by the hotel, no need to have coins ready for payment, especially when you come from another country.

We did not choose to have breakfast, which is superb, as we know, but as pensioners we do not eat so much and the price tag of €18 per person, seemed therefore unreasonable. It would be better for us, to be able to have choice of a small, cheaper breakfast or buffet at the full price.

The hotel was wonderfully located near the Altstadt, so getting everywhere was super-easy. The room was lovely and warm and the shower was amazing! Breakfast was a delight, and the staff were wonderful. The Nespresso machine in the room was a lovely touch.

We had a room next to the lift, and therefore we found that it was quite noisy, especially late at night when people came back from the Christmas markets! Next time (yes, we would definitely stay again) we will ask for a room in a quieter part of the hotel.

staff were super friendly. location is great. It’s only a five minute walk to the Altstadt where the bars/restaurants are. you have the Rhine which again is a 5 minute walk where again, there are bars/restaurants which overlook the Rhine.

only something very little but the bed wasn’t comfortable and made so much noise when turning over, not the most comfortable and the pillows were pretty much non existent.
