I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Mercedes Centrum in Hamburg! The location near the city center was perfect, making it convenient to explore the city's attractions. Contrary to all the reviews, I was quite surprised. The room costed a little less than €100 for one night. The reception ( in another building) was polite and the location excellent (diagonally opposite one can see Police/Polizei building, shopping ladens around and big street). I did not see at 11:30 pm any shady business. Room was small and compact so was the bathroom, however for one night it was not an overkill.
Just the stairs for both approaching the reception AND the room

Location is perfect, close to central station, metro, shopping streets and museums. Do not hesitate booking.
The condition was surprisingly good. The furniture was in perfect condition and the room was so clean I could not find any spot. This is very rare. The staff was friendly, proffered and dedicated .

I liked that this room is near a metro station, so I would not have to walk from the hotel to the central station, it did not feel safe.
Room with an Air conditioning sound on the back, makes difficult to sleep well. Breakfast? Nobody ever told me there was a breakfast. I just put my name in a paper, got 2 keys and that was all, no communication, no map or information provided. Because of the neighborhood, it should be a 2 stars hotel. Felt insecure to walk from the hotel to the central station.
