The Imperial was a PERFECT choice for me, a solo traveler. It’s located in a very quiet, lovely, tree-lined neighborhood, far enough away from the town noises, crowds & traffic yet close enough to reach cafés & shop quickly on foot + public transportation (5-min walk to closest U-bahn stn). My room was spotless, nicely lit, very well insulated from sounds from other guests & very spacious & generously furnished. The best part for me was the super friendly staff :-) I was welcomed with a smile & helpfulness every time I walked by reception. I felt very well looked-after during my entire stay. Absolutely lovely, friendly staff! If I’m ever in Köln again, I would not hesitate to return to this hotel!

Absolutely nothing - it was perfect in every aspect!

We arrived really early and obviously our room was not ready. The receptionist on shift was very welcoming and really friendly, she did a pre-check in (so it would be faster when we came back), she stored our luggage and we did not have breakfast for the next morning but she offered us coffee to get us started for the day. From someone that worked 10 years in high-end hospitality: she was at a 5 star hotel level of pro-active and friendly staff!

The room was perfectly clean, nice looking and comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. Also had stable wi-fi. Hotel is in a nice, quiet location yet only about 5 min walk to U-Bahn lines 3/4, perfect for getting to Koelnmesse and for the city centre.

Would have liked an extra power outlet closer to the table, and a higher desk or table for more comfortable laptop use. No major issues, had a great stay. :)

Nice and quiet hotel run by a small team of friendly, smiling and caring people. Our room was rather small but offered everything we would expect for a short stay (citytrip in Köln), including a private secured garage. The buffet breakfast offered a wide choice of food, scrambled eggs, bacon, a choice of cheeses, yogourts, fruits and cereals, completed with a kind and attentive service offering tea, coffee and more. Even if the venue is a bit out of the city centre (about 15 minutes walk to the cathedral and train station), it guarantees a perfect quietness and peaceful nights.

The staff was very kind. So 10/10 for the staff, very friendly people. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable.

It’s an old fashioned hotel. The lift is really old and it seems that you can get stuck in, there is a notice that prevents you from using it at certain times, or it’s something like we can use it but at our own risk. To me, the hotel is too expensive for what it is.

- Excellent room. Spacious, plenty of daylight, very clean and tidy. - Very friendly and helpful staff. - We arrived around noon and our room was already set for us. - The location in Ehrenfeld was convenient for us. It is a bit out of the centre, but not far from a metro station from which you can reach the centre or Ehrenfeld train station.

- Two single mattresses instead of one large mattress we have hoped for. For the rest, the bed was very comfy though. - No late check-out was available on the day of our stay. Not a big deal, but would have been nice.

The property was perfect, traditional style with clean, comfortable room, and warm and welcoming staff. Situated in a nice part of town with easy access to the town centre.

Breakfast was a bit expensive but there are many delicious options close by, even a good cafe right next door.

The helpful friendly staff, their professional attitude, the location, the ambience, everything... another excellent small German hotel. How do they get it so right? Why would anyone stay in a big American or European chain hotel.

fresh eggs was the highlight. park near by was excellent for running. it is in a quiet residential area but city centre is just 2 kms away, easily walkable. there are restaurants of all kinds within 1km radius. staff were super responsive and managed everything,

This hotel is a hidden gem: it allows you to be everywhere in Cologne in a reasonable time. It is located on a quiet small side street, so it is very comfortable and quiet at night. Simultaneously, one can reach the vibrant quarter of Ehrenfeld with many restaurants, bars, cafes and shops by foot in less than 10 minutes. S-Bahn stations are also nearby (13-15 min walk) as well as the Green Belt of Cologne. If you want to avoid the noise of the exact city center and still be close to all major sightseeing spots and the university area, this hotel is a great choice. We enjoyed a very warm welcome at the reception, the staff were very friendly and supportive. The rooms are very clean, modern and well equipped, and there is that special charm of an old building. The bathroom facilities, heating and WiFi function perfectly well. The breakfast was fresh, various and abundant. We were the only guests in the restaurant at that moment and noticed that the room is quite spacious, cozy and has a terrace. We are frequent travelers and can readily recommend Hotel Imperial to couples, families and tourists who want to experience an atmosphere of the real city. Ehrenfeld has a growing hipster scene and gives one a very fresh, young feel.
