Beautiful historical hotel with a proud family history. The grounds and the mainstay area were a big highlight that made our visit unique and warm. Breakfast was great as the staff went above and beyond to satisfy our requests. The location is perfectly situated away from inner city congestion but with easy and quick access to the lake and trails connecting to all of the desired locations nearby.

Since the hotel has been restored and renovated through the years, the rooms are upgraded but have some limitations. Expect a smaller water closet with a narrow shower. Not something the hotel can do much about, unless they decided to make drastic structural changes - I actually don't recommend that. It did not have a negative impact on our visit, just something we noted and easily adjusted to.

The location was perfect for lake views, waterside strolls and a 15-minute stroll to the town. The hotel is an 19th Century listed building with lots of interesting and unusual artefacts. The garden, which rolls down to the lake, had lots of comfortable chairs and tables and lovely lighting - so good that we had picnic dinners there on two evenings. Breakfast was delicious and really nicely presented. We had it once, but for two people who eat very little in the morning, €22.5 each felt expensive. Instead we strolled into Konstanz and had coffee and croissants at one of the many cafés. The Barleben staff were helpful and very welcoming.

This wasn't the Barleben's fault, but the tourist tax was €15 per night - the most we've ever paid, so an extra €75 for our five nights there. That felt like quite a lot!

A beautiful old villa, great location directly at the lake. Nice 10 Minutes walk to that old town along the lake. Wonderful old wooden floors! Unfortunately we had bad weather but on a sunny day having coffee in the garden must be nice. Very friendly and attentive staff, not only at our stay but also before arrival!

The collection of the owner is very original but also a bit overcrowded. A little less would be more! The cosy looking living room was only on display not to be used by the guests.

We're used to living in green and quiet areas, so the fact that the hotel is located next to the lake and park makes the hotel quiet at night for sleeping. The hotel is at a dead-end street and have free street parking is a plus for us as we were with a car. We loved the personal touch of welcome-drink coupon for a wine bar in town, although we did not have a chance to use it. Appreciated the complimentary drinks and snack in the room. We were glad to have a chance to stay and experience the hotel during the off season, hence the price is lower. But during high season, the hotel might be out of our budget.

I travel alone for work, and these are my first trips after being hospitalized with pleuritis and pneumonia. Because of this, I need extra comfort, such as resting and eating in between. The staff was extremely helpful and understanding. It is always nice to stay somewhere where personal contact and customer friendliness are central. This is definitely the case here, and I will certainly return. Also to walk there is amazing, pictures below.

The hotel is on the lake-side. You can park in the hotel entrance (just a few spaces) or in the road outside. We were able to have a long walk along the promenade (and even saw some brave soul swimming in November). The scenery across the lake to the alps is epic? Our room had lots of extras that you wouldn't get in an ordinary hotel such as a minibar with free water, snacks and a Nespresso machine. The bed was one of the most comfortable that we have ever slept in. It's a short walk from the town and there are a couple of places to eat within 5 minutes walk of the hotel. The person who met us at reception was lovely.

For us, everything was great. There is no lift, so if that's a problem for you then you need to ask for a ground floor room.

Quirky old villa turned hotel directly on the lake shore. Beautiful views and the location is unbeatable. The manager was extremely helpful and welcoming, despite the obvious post Covid struggles that many hotels are dealing with. We were lucky enough to get a free upgrade to a lake view room and I can’t recommend enough booking this room when having the choice.

Bathrooms are a little small and sink is in the bedroom - old building regulations, as was explained to us.

It is beautiful hotel in an old villa, very tastefully decorated and with very comfortable beds and pillows. Unfortunately no breakfast is served during winter time, but each room has a coffee machine and water cattle. The location is perfect, it is on the lake shore, but the place is very peaceful and one sleeps excellently at night.

The deco, colonial style, is fantastic. The house is beautiful. Lots of little attention provided by the staff, notably when entering the room(ambiant light left, free snacks, etc..). 20mîn walking from the centre, beautifully located close to the lake.

There was no breakfast possible at the time of stay. The bathroom light was too bright and cold.

This cozy villa offers rooms with the real character. Located at the truly beautiful and quiet bank of the Bodensee, where guests may sit in the garden and enjoy a sip of a good drink from the bar.
