Amazing. Very simple and yet very effective. The receptionist was extremely kind. The position is great, in the very center of the city just by the train station.

No air conditioner makes sleeping on hot summer days quite tough.

Very close to the train station.

Very noisy throught the night with drinkers and sadly drug addicts wandering close to the hotel. Kept me awake. Room very run down. Blind over window broken. Lamp bulb over bed blew out. No replacement bulb in entire hotel. Shower cubicle broken. This place needs money spending on it but it was to be expected for the budget price. Just proves you get what you pay for. Pay more. I had no choice since it was an emergency stay. Was difficult to find rooms.

I cannot remember why I chose to book this particular hotel. I was only stopping in Mainz to catch an early bus to Frankfurt Hahn Airport (another mistake!). It is indeed close to the Railway station and the Bus Stop and its location is its best feature. With hindsight, I should have demanded to see the room before paying for it but with my arrival in Mainz delayed by 2 hours, I just went with it. (The check-in desk behind a perspex screen should have been a warning sign.)

The 3rd-floor room had a strange triangular shape and a sweet dusty smell (more like it had been deodorized or fumigated rather than cleaned). There was no air-con and one window, which opened onto the street above a busy bus and tram stop. Freight trains ran through the railway station pretty-much all night. With night-time temperatures of 24-26oC, I had to choose whether to have a little bit of ventilation and constant noise or slightly less noise and no air. Up until midnight I opened both the window to the street and my door to the corridor to try and get some air through the room. I removed the heavy duvet from its cover and put it in the wardrobe (I first went to put it on top but found it covered in dust and cobwebs). I lay on the bed with with its rubberized mattress protector and had one foot against the wardrobe at the end until 4am without getting a wink of sleep. I went out and opened some windows to the Innenhof on the stairwell and left my door open again. There were no other guests on my floor (and probably none on any other floor either!) This helped a little to cool the room. I got some sleep but with the toilet cistern suddenly gushing into action every 10 minutes, it was pretty fitful. Having bathed in sweat all night, I got up at 6am, released the resident shield bug from the shower out the window and had a shower. The water pressure was great (like needles piercing your flesh!) but just the thing to waken you after a sleepless night. Of all the tired old fittings in the place, this one was the best.

The Location near the train station

Unfortunately it’s too noisy as the public transport is right under the window. The older gentleman at the reception was rude, even shouted at me when I asked for an invoice as I was on a business trip. The towels are old, don’t give the impression that the place is clean. The Bathroom has some unclean parts, I couldn’t allow myself to shower there. In the hallway next to my door there was a vacuum machine just left/forgotten there. Not recommendable at all. Will definitely be looking for better options next time

The view from the window that shows the train station

The old person that was in the reception 24hours a day, was very rude with us. He asked for more money and we had no option that days, and we paid 60 eur more!!!! That rude person was locking the door all the day. The room was dirty enough! VERY SMALL and no air-condition inside and we was suffering from the hot! The bathroom shower was broken not working well! Generally NOT GOOD AT ALL!! I will not visit again!!!

I liked nothing about "Hotel" Terminus

Not a hotel - stairs with a few cells. Grubby, and so hot that you had to open the window wide open, but the trains are too loud to sleep. It is like sleeping in a steel mill. No fan. Awful!
