Hotel Mio by Amano is a great hotel located in the core of Munich’s city center. You will be able to walk to just about everything notable in Munich from here (or a very quick U bahn train ride of just a few stations at most). The hotel is about a ten minute walk from Marienplatz station (which has a direct train connection to Munich Airport). The hotel is probably a 2 minute walk to the Sendlinger Tor U bahn station which connects to numerous lines in Munich. So between the two, you can get to where you need to go easily. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. They have quality hand soap, body wash and shampoo in the bathroom. The bed was comfortable. One thing we did not like about the room was the nightly reset of the air conditioner settings. The air conditioner itself was working well but it seems to reset to the default settings every night around sunset time. This is presumably an environmentally and financially friendly feature for the hotel. However, it led to the temperature being uncomfortable for us for our first night there because we were unaware that our cooler settings were wiped away. We should have double checked before heading to sleep but didn’t realize we needed to. The lobby area is cool and chic looking. Under the hotel is a Rewe grocery store which offers a very large selection of items at highly affordable prices. In our three nights in Munich, we probably bought something from the Rewe four times. There are plenty of restaurant options within a 10 minute or less walking radius. About 10 minutes walk away is the famous Viktualimarket with many different food vendors.

So pleased we chose this hotel. We have stayed in Munich many times. And this is by far the best hotel. The location is perfect. You are 5 minutes walk from Marienplatz and 30 minutes from the English garden. Lovely staff and delicious breakfast. The bar is very chilled. Excellent drink choice. Very reasonable prices. Suggest you upgrade to king room. Not too much more and worth it for the extra space.

Despite most of the staff being friendly, one receptionist with glasses was unhelpful. We wanted to know how the driver could pick us up at the hotel located in a pedestrian street, after booking our own car to the airport. He refused to give us any details and insisted that we book a more expensive taxi through the hotel. He gave us an ultimatum to either book through him or figure it out ourselves. Later, we discovered that the car could access the hotel early in the morning and there was another entrance for the driver to pick us up. He could have informed us of this, but he chose not to. Unfortunately, he was very unhelpful.

Location in the city center is ideal and convenient. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast buffet was plentiful with made-to-order egg dishes.

Rooms are small, but hey - this Europe.

This hotel is in an ideal location for exploring the city. It has all the main facilities needed and the room was clean and functional. The shower is good and the bed comfortable. The room temperature was acceptable even though it is not possible to change the temperature. Breakfast was close to ideal, with a wide range of food types available. The hotel is very close to an underground station to get anywhere around the city, and only around 15mins walk to the pickup point for the tour buses.

The room rate was extremely expensive for this type of room and the size of the room. It is at least twice the rate I would normally pay especially during a non-holiday or event period. The bathroom extractor fan did not seem to work, so bad smells and humidity tended to hang around for many hours. They served poor quality decaffeinated coffee at breakfast.

The hotel is perfectly located and beautifully designed. Staff is nice and helpful. Shower is comfy and has a strong stream. Breakfast was rich enough with a variety that was suitable also for vegetarian guests

We requested many months in advance that the twin beds be separated, but when we checked in we realized the place didn’t accommodate our request, stating that they ‘never promise’ such arrangements in advance, and that 'the rooms where this could have been done were already occupied'. I believe they should have honored our early request, as it caused inconvenience for the guests who had to share the bed for the entire stay. --- Also there was no clothes iron in the room

Clean, freshly decorated and modern. The breakfast was excellent and the staff were very polite and efficient

The bedrooms were far too small for two adults. We were tripping over our suitcases and each other the whole time. Also I do not want to do self service check in. I like the human connection so I resented all the many emails and texts from the hotel directing me to the self service check in. I travel to experience other places, cultures and food and the more impersonal hotels make it the less I want to travel.

The front desk personnel stored our luggage. The lobby and sitting area decor were amazing. The location was convenient, and the breakfast was excellent. I appreciated that bus cards were provided for guests.

It would have been nice to receive the bus pass so we could have done some sightseeing while we waited to check-in. It turned out that our check-in was not even on her shift. We were unable to dine at the restaurant attached to the hotel, which was an inconvenience. The room was small and not as decorative as the rest of the hotel.

Very well-located property with comfortable beds, well-appointed rooms, helpful staff. If you want to rent the bikes from them, you may want to reserve in advance. You cannot ride bikes through the old city after 9am, but there are dedicated bike lanes and biking through the English Garden was lovely. We did not eat breakfast as we felt the price was rather high, but it was a huge, very nice looking buffet and probably worth it if you are breakfast people. They let us get just coffee both days.

The one complaint we had was about the bathroom, as the whole bathroom is a wet room. The shower is separated from the room by a half glass pane and no lip on the floor, so we soaked the bathroom every time we showered, which wasn’t ideal. Just a note - If you have a large quantity of luggage, this may not serve your purposes as the room was very small, but it was all we needed.
