great buildings in a unique location, charming staff, complimentary home-made Calvados in your room!

This is a strange place. Trains rattle down the river until late at night: Access is a trial, with steep footpaths paved with angled cobblestones. Disabled customers need to take a look and call ahead if they need the ferry-buggy to take them and their luggage from the car park to the castle. I visited in mid-summer and the activity centre, closer to the road up the hill, was buzzing with screaming kids at 10pm! They didn't intrude too badly, but again, it's wise to factor these issues into your decision about when to visit and what to expect. Even with these eccentricities, I've visited four times in the last ten years.

The hotel's majestic and historic atmosphere is a place where you could fully experience the charm of Europe, which is different from that of travel to ocean resort. In particular, it seems that this was an experience that really appealed to the sense of adventure in our little boys, and even a boy who might find history tours boring seemed to have a great time and experience.

There were some places in the building where it was difficult to connect to Wi-Fi, but it was within acceptable range. We visited in autumn, so there were some areas we couldn't enter, but even so, the facilities were more than enough to enjoy.

The castle stay was beautifully decorated and very warm and cozy with character taking the visitor to the 15th century on the Rhine. The breakfast was an array of variety choice foods including an omelet, very good tea choices and hot chocolate. The library was warm with lots of books and a large fireplace to cozy up to in the cold winter months being close to Christmas by 2 days. The room I stayed in was the attic with private balcony and elevator to get to that floor was exceptional since the winding stairs were narrow and steep. The bed was a queen and felt larger than that and was very comfortable with 4 down pillows accented with Mozart chocolates from Salzburg Austria. It had the pop out windows that overlook the Rhine river and was quite spacious for the stay. I arrived by train and I highly suggest using a taxi it took 9 € to get me to the top of the winding steep mountain and then call the hotel castle to reserve a golf cart to take you and your luggage by porter to your room. For me it worked out great since they had my room ready to check in at 11 am. I arrived in the room with luggage already there in the room by the porter. There is a nice watchtower museum that is included. I did that the last day after breakfast. It was a delightful stay and recommend this for anyone who likes adventure and history. It was well worth the $335 a night.

Nothing to complain about. It was all so nice and the staff was wonderful and courteous made you feel very Royal!

A splendid authentic castle atop a hill by the river Rhine, this hotel offers majestic vistas and cozy stylish rooms. It really has the atmosphere of a castle rather than that of yet another hotel you visit. It's a long way from the parking to the reception (and then to your room through a little maze of corridors and stairs, which is typical for a castle), but they have a luggage service with a golf cart, which is rather useful.

There's a rainbow flag in there - a sign of bad taste. Not something you want to see.

If you get a chance, stay here!!! I’m still on “Cloud9” about this experience!! WOW I can go on and on about it but just know that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity that you need to experience! The only snowfall that we experienced was here…even though no sticking snow. Magical. Magical . And more magical.

Getting to location from the train “station” since no taxis. The hotel could call a taxi but if you don’t have a set time, depending on email to reach the facility to order you a car service, that was challenging. Us walking to the top was a story in itself. 😆 The restaurant had a limited menu- fancy but if you are not looking for fine dining, you are limited in food.

-The view from the castle isolates you from the world we live in. Like time-traveling. -Kindness of the staff. It's good to see smiling faces and people who find solutions. -The garden and the path around castle was a big surprise. Full with interesting corners to discover. Bring walking shoes. -The service at the restaurant for dinner was excellent. -Breakfast was good. -At the museum of the castle (which is basically a tower) there's a nice senior gentleman who tells you interesting stories. -It's clear that the interior decoration is a work of someone with a taste. Nice tiny details everywhere.

-You will require to steep walk and climb non standard stairs. It may not be for everyone. If you ask hotel I'm sure they'll find a solution. But you must know this before going there. -Kettle was missing, it would be great to have one for a hot drink in the room.

We stayed here on the last night of a 2 week European road trip. I only wish we could have stayed an extra night. I could have watched the boat traffic on the Rhine all day. The garden is a delight with lots of seating places. Even though the weather was pretty cool and overcast we still enjoyed our stay. The next morning it was so misty we couldn't see the Rhine from our balcony but the fog lifted during breakfast and we were treated to the most amazing views from the breakfast terrace. Our room was well appointed with free drinks and the bed and pillows were divine. The bathrobes, towels and bed linen are probably some of the best we have ever come across in a hotel.

We had a room with a balcony. It wasn't cheap but the whole experience made up for the cost. We really did feel very special.

Our room was furnished with antiques, and had a private terrace with a gazebo. The windows were arrow slits. We stayed 2 nights and spent a whole day exploring the castle. There is a museum in the oldest tower, a magical garden with lots of follies and summer houses, castle terraces with seating and views of Oberwesel and the Rhein, and lounge and library rooms. Enjoyed our meals at the Hotel Bistro which has terraces and rooms with stunning views.

Because it is a castle there are lots of steep steps and cobbles, best to wear sensible shoes. It is expensive, but we live in an ordinary house, so fun to pretend we are King and Queen for a day!

Everything about this hotel was amazing. It even had a bar fridge with a selection of beverages, including wine and beer, that was included in the room cost. There was a complementary flask of welcome sherry as well. The decorations of the room, the view from windows, and the top of the castle walkways was phenomenal. You really felt like you were living in a castle. The Restaurant service and food was really very good. Outside, there were pathways around the Hotel for walking excursions.

The cost for this experience is higher than one would like, but still worth the experience. Bell Hop service was very good to assist with luggage, but needing to get there by a deadline was stressful.

It's a real-life castle (all my historical romance fantasties come true!) luxury hotel! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The ambience...I mean...THE AMBIENCE!! The views were fabulous, the food excellent, the accomodations wonderful. The large 2 person tub in our room was amazing and no amenity was forgotten, down to the bubble bath. It was like a fairy tale. We loved it so much we are going back in 3 weeks with our family.

Nothing could have been better. It was wonderful.
