Location was excellent. The room was spacious and nice and the breakfast was very good

I was disappointed when I received a message from Burg Rabenstein after I booked it, that the dining room would not be available to hotel guests due to a fully booked event and that it would also be closed on the Monday we stayed there. This closure also applied to the Burgschenke and all the other parts of the castle. This forced us to go out by car to get dinner in the evening elsewhere. So please check this out before you book the hotel.

Me and my son made a tour around Fränkische Alp to look at castles and other historical landmarks. We also stayed in some of the castles. We were focusing especially on castles with a more "medieval" appearance rather than later palaces. Burg Rabenstein is really a dream castle if one likes these things. It has very spectacular looks on top of a cliff. It has amazing interiors that make you feel like moved in time. In addition to this there is also possible to eat quite high-end food for a reasonable price level in the castle restaurant. And the list of wine and spirits was very complete, and sitting there sipping on a good whiskey in a leather chair after the dinner was very relaxing. My teenage son was by then spending the time in the huge bathtub of our room. Altogether it really felt as we were some royalty in the past. The breakfast was also great, and the location is perfect for hiking in the surroundings. Only a few hundred meters away is an amazing cave with beautiful rock formations and remains of cave bears.

There is nothing to complain about, really. As said, it is a fabulous place. The parking is a couple of hundred meters away, but it is understandable as parked cars would really destroy the view of the castle. One can drive closer to leave and pick up luggage, so not really a problem. But, OK, one thing I would like to complain about is that several of the castles we visited on this trip, this one included, are becoming overgrown by thick vegetation, from high grass to trees. This obscures the views both to and from the castles, as well as does not give an impression of the sites being well kept.

Charming stay at castle, it was very nice experience; We booked the bigger room which was very spacious; breakfast was good, and we had delicious dinner (special local cuisine menu). we loved the freedom to walk to castle by ourselves the most :)

Was rather hot in the room, but one does not expect AC in castle :) and there are other parts of castle where you can cool down, like castle beer garden

The location and surrounding is excellent and staying in such a historic castle like this is a great experience. The staff at reception is very good.

The Beergarden inside the premise closes at 18.00hrs. The restaurant inside the castle requires prior booking. And nearest villages are 4 to 6km away. So plan well your evening dinner in advance. There are limited or no options if you do not plan.

it was clean, plenty of room, and in a great location.

check in was a little problematic. the code given did not work, and I had to call to get buzzed in. Also I had sent a question, but never got a response. If any Americans are planning on staying there, just know that the clothes dryers there aren’t not like the ones in the States. They do not use heat, so it takes a long time to dry. I assume it’s due to their energy crisis.

The castle itself is amazing, with lot of details from different historical eras. The restaurant was very good, with nice atmosphere. Very good breakfast with different coffee options.

The castle tour was only in German. It was still worth it as there was some places you would not otherwise see.

Fantastic Location. Nice personnel. Excellent büffet Breakfast, lots to choose from. Very good shower cabin. Beautiful atmosphere and nice decoration in all the premises. The 2 nights we stayed there was only one menu for dinner. So, all good; but still, in my opinion: a bit expensive the room and expensive the restaurant.

Beautiful location, set on a high vantage point. Our room was large and well equipped. The breakfast was more than adequate with options of fruit, cereal cheese and meat with also offer of cooked as well. There are numerous walks around the castle, which were extremely interesting. .views, caves etc. Also right next to the castle is a Falconry centre also a large cave that does guided tours every hour or so.

Not being able to stay for longer!!

We joined a tour of the castle before we booked in. It was really interesting to see the historic rooms. Our own room was very large and had amazing views of the valley. The pre-dinner drinks in the fireplace lounge was very special.

Location is amazing, peaceful. atmospheric and authentic castle living. Evening meal excellent. Views to die for.

OK it’s a castle but the wifi really should be better. Also, all the information we found about our accommodation was in German. It would really help to have another language (the restaurant evening menu was thoughtfully provided to us in English, so it should be possible).
