We loved the old fashioned charm and the breakfast room and it's beautiful view. The staff were very helpful and the garden and bar was an added bonus! The view of the sea was stunning, thank you for the room you gave us!

We know there is a reason for the small bathrooms, but the shower could easily be reconfigured so it can be used with more comfort. Plus a sliding door would stop water going all over the bathroom. Please please please consider getting fluffy towels instead of the hard sheets you currently have - they let you down and you are an exceptionally good hotel!

Everything. The hotel is a living Museum. Its walls are decorated with items and documents from 1881 until today, covering the history of Crete and the culture of Asia. The elderly female owners, sisters, have a marvelous history that they honour. The hotel was built to be the Austro-Hungarian consulate in the 19th century while the city was still part of the Ottoman empire. Upon Crete's independence was purchased by the current owners' maternal grandmother as a family house. History saw the building serving as a British consulate, German comandatur, again British consulate, returning to the family and finally re-shaped as a horel in the 20th century. All this history speaks to you from the ate, to the corridors, the secret garden on the back and the restaurant on top. The staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating, the room impeccably clean and the Cretan breakfast exceptionally unique and filling. I won't say anything about the view...breathtaking!

Wonderfully atmospheric place, the old building, the high ceilings, the charming inner courtyard, the breathtaking breakfast room with view to the sea.

Tiny showerplace with no curtain and the wrong slope of the bathroom floor means any shower turns into a deluge in the whole bathroom. Add to that that there is nowhere (shelf/drawer) to place one's toiletries and the bathroom is not a comfortable experience. The main street is so noisy that it was a problem even in my room that looked towards the inner courtyard.

The shining star for this place is the house, the history and absolutely the staff. I've stayed in all type of luxury but these people were one of the best staff I've ever encountered. yeah sure the toilet is a bit humid.. but in the end everything is very clean. It is an old building and as such, has it's quirks. You should not rent this place if you cannot appreciate it and then leave bad reviews. There is a hidden beautiful garden where the staff lit some candles for us and we had a great glass of wine. This is a once in a lifetime stay. Every corner of the building is an experience.

The wild beach directly in front is beautiful and very empty but this is because it is visited by some weird people. During day it is ok. So that is a mixed bag. The next beach is very close in the city, very crowded and tiny but with facilities. The bus station is close to go to the other sides. Some rooms say double or two twin beds. This means two completely split beds! Not something you would expect of course. When we complained, they quickly joined them for us. But, the room is not ideal for fitting a joint bed ..but was ok...just an extra warning that you should read carefully.

Although expensive, we thought the Executive suite on the top (5th) floor of the hotel was excellent. It was very atmospheric in a 1940's style. Rather than use the lift, we used the stairs for 5 days to keep fit. The whole top floor, including the massive outside terrace with 4 sun loungers and table and 4 chairs supplied, was exclusively ours to use. The uninterrupted view over the bay was just superb, as were the sun rises and sunsets. The breakfast was good, with all kinds of egg and tomato supplied on request along with all other breakfasty things. The staff were always friendly and willing to help. The hotel is a short walk from the busy cafes and restaurants of Chania's delightful harbour.

The suite was just lovely, 5 stars, but we were surprised that there were no coffee and/or tea making facilities in the room. There was certainly plenty of room to supply them. Also, in a health and safety issue, both showers did not have shower curtains on them!!! I'm 6'2" and despite trying really hard, I could not help splashing water all over the place. This made everything soaking and unless being very careful, a nasty slip could be possible. Everything else was just perfect.

The most unique and wonderful hotel I have ever been to! And I have been to quite a few excellent ones, as well as quirky ones in my time, but this one just tops them all. The design; the generous sharing of family pictures on the walls, and the stories these pictures tell! The views. The location. The breakfast!! I felt so relaxed and at home from the very moment I stepped into the building. Vasso at reception was superb, making me feel welcome and giving great advise for places to go to in Chania. This hotel is just the dream!

Lovely quirky hotel with bags of character and lots of history. Never stayed anywhere where I wanted to look at and explore the furniture and what was on the walls before! Good location a 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk to the harbour or city centre. Interesting and friendly hosts with lots of advice and information to give you. Air conditioning worked well.

It suited us fine and we knew what to expect, but don't expect modern fixtures and fittings etc, that's not what this hotel is about.

Hotel was located with the beautiful view of the sea. Eating breakfast every morning was a blast. Room was clean and the room service was daily changing towels and other products. Staff was super friendly and Im highly recommending this place.

The hotel have a very beautiful history, there is a lot of old items, paintings, photos of the family members who were running the place. The place have an old vibe. The shower in the bathroom did not have a courtain so the water was all over the place if you were washing your hair although the hotel service hept it clean everyday.

Excellent customer service. Front desk helped us with many things including dinner reservations, directions to beach and town, beach towels, taxi, and so much more, including leaving breakfast tray with food the day before one of our early departure for a tour. Very helpful attentive and the breakfast is soooo good. Lots of variety and delicious!

The shower was a bit small but manageable.

The lady who welcomed us was very nice and helpful. She helped us repair our suitcase which was broken. The building has an historical charm, with lots of antiques inside and outside. Take the time to look at the pictures in the living room. The view over the sea was very nice. The beach and Chania old town are a walking distance from the hotel. Nice breakfast in a lovely room overlooks oking the sea.

The road below is very noisy. Lots of traffic, to such extent that you can’t leave the window open. Walls, carpets etc a bit worn out. Very impractical shower (no curtain)
