Bissau Palace is a delightful gem nestled amid the vibrant energy of Jaipur. Stepping into its enchanting embrace, we felt like we stepped into a part of history that’s unchanged. Our encounter with the owner (Manu) on the first night was heartwarming. He graciously shared the palace and city's captivating history, weaving us into the narrative. We learnt how to fly kites during the evenings, and had a special Rajasthani Thali for dinner at the rooftop. The rooftop is magnificent during the evenings with kites embracing the pink sky akin to stars in the night sky. Throughout our stay, Bissau Palace consistently treated us like royalty. The service went above and beyond, creating an atmosphere that felt like a cherished (royal) home away from home. Beyond the regal ambiance, the culinary experience at Bissau Palace was nothing short of spectacular. We took a culinary journey of Rajasthan during our stay that showed us the rich history and diversity of the state through food. Ask the restaurant for the “bindi kurkure”, it is a dish that we will dream about for weeks to come. From our opinion, for those seeking an experience akin to royalty, Bissau Palace stands as the unrivaled destination that promises to make you feel truly regal. Hope you cherish this palace the way we will for years to come. + there were some cute dogs that can only benefit your stay. xx Tom & Gowri

The atmosphere was a haven of charming, historic calm in a wonderful but dusty and intense Old City of Jaipur. We loved staying in a truly historic 300 year old palace which has remained in the same family and been a hotel since 1960. We loved even more the staff's ability to mitigate any of the difficulties of traveling in India if you are a westerner. The 2 amazing heads of reception sorted out our train tickets to Agra, restaurant reservations, taxis to visit the Fort. You name it they solve it! The first night we arrived late and were put in a room which was lovely but not what I was expecting from photos. The next day we were moved into the most splendid comfortable room which exceeded the photos! I hope to go back one day - HOtel Bissau is a gem. And its so convenient to be able to walk to the main sites in the city. Truly Fabulous, Charming and Super helpful!

A very quirky property a lot like Fawlty Towers but with a heart of gold. A little shabby around the edges but our gigantic room had a ton of character. The restaurant meals were seriously wonderful and well priced. The staff were just fabulous - honestly couldn’t do enough for us. So friendly and accommodating. The hote grounds were immense which meant the hustle and bustle of the city were kept outside the walls of this oasis. We were a little disappointed on arrival that our room wasn’t like the pictures (no bathtub) but once we settled in we throroughly enjoyed the charm of this place.

We loved our 3 day stay here over Christmas. The building itself is beautiful, with lots of cosy spaces to sit and relax. You could spend hours looking at all the paintings and artefacts dotted around. Our room was very well presented and clean. It’s a small taster experience of living inside one of the bigger palaces, away from the crowds. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was always tasty with a variety of options and different every day. Having a drink in one of the old sitting rooms was a highlight. We also enjoyed the swimming pool, which seems maintained for guests all through the year. If you’re expecting a new, sparkling hotel experience, this isn’t for you. But what it does offer is plenty of charm, history and character. A very special place.

The location doesn’t have much to offer, but it’s easy enough catch a tuktuk or use the hotel taxi. We walked to the City Palace which was a nice 30min stroll through the markets.

This hotel was incredible! It is a gorgeous old palace that feels secluded but still well located. The staff were all lovely and helped us book a day tour of Jaipur through a trustworthy driver and gave us some good advice. After some bad experiences with drivers (especially uber) before getting to Jaipur, it was a relief to be with someone trustworthy and the hotel reception was very understanding about our nervousness. A special thankyou to Rajaram in the dining area. I am gluten intolerant and he made extra sure I knew what the ingredients were in everything, checking with the kitchen if needed and he happily swapped out the bread option in the thaali with a wheat free option. Breakfast was complimentary and was a wonderful selection of Western and traditional foods. Could not recommend more!

Hotel Bissau Palace is a great choice if you want to stay close to major tourist attractions and in a quiet place. Hotel situated very close to Hawa Mahal, City Palace and Jantar Mantar. Hotel rooms are far from the main road and seperated by a compound wall. Thus, you get to stay in a very quiet place. Hotel stands for its Heritage hotel status and has very nice decors and ambience. Staff (Special mention of Rajaram, Vivek and Shankar) is very helpful and extremely polite. Reception staff were very helpful too and supports with any information you might need. We also had dinner at the Hotel during our stay. Both breakfast and Dinner were fresh and tasty.

Wifi was very poor and only working occasionally. Bathrooms could use bit of renovation. There were photo shoots happening in the corridor area during our stay. This was causing bit of noise and it is not helpful if you want to sleep and rest a bit.

I can not recommend this wonderful hotel enough. It felt like a beautiful home from home. The staff were exceptional, the room spaceosi and beautiful, the hotel itself is stunning and the history and artwork around the palace enchanting. It really is like stepping back in time. It doesn't have the stuffy or corporate feel that some of the other old Palace hotels have. I felt right at home. There is plenty of space to relax in different areas and the staff were helpful, friendly and very kind. The pool was a bonus!

Nothing. It was perfect!

Rich heritage throughout the property, takes you back in time. The rooms are spacious unlike modern hotels, most of the bathrooms are getting renovated and we had the privilege of staying in one of these rooms. Finally the staff is super nice and makes your stay very special.

The place is slowly opening up after the pandemic so some shortcomings are understandable. Just one simple recommendation for the management - since old Jaipur is quite dusty, it will be helpful if floors and corridors are mopped well everyday to avoid the dust as much as possible.

This hotel is nice, actually the rooms are nice with the kind of tariff it has been given. The vibe is calm and pretty old. Of course it's a haveli and it has that very tacky and old vibe .. but all in all we were satisfied. I mean of course you can't expect a 5 star hotel service here .. whatever it is, it is good. Most importantly it's clean and hygienic. Food is okay. Breakfast is do-able. The swimming pool is clean. Rooms are great. Washrooms are clean and newly made. I give 7.5/10 to this property.

The breakfast took some time to reach both the days, but the manager and staff were humbled enough to apologize a lot. The way to reach the hotel was kinda tricky, it had two ways .. one is the long way, with many turns and blocks (usually the map shows that) Another way directly reaches the hotel with a lil chaos in the main road. So we need to be careful about it. Rest all cool.

The staff at this hotel are absolutely lovely. They are obviously well-trained in hospitality and do their jobs well. They paid close personal attention to the guests. The food here was quite good and well-priced. The hotel was obviously a beautiful palace and grounds, once upon a time. There are many details that reflect as such. It is a quiet oasis in a bustling city.

The hotel is in great need of upkeep and renovation to restore and maintain its charm and beauty. It was a shame for me to see how it was falling apart. Our bathroom was a disaster, the shower/tub drain wasn't even plumbed to anything. Water just poured all over the floor. There is so much potential for this hotel to be grand, but it is unkempt.
