The breakfast selection was very nice, and the room was beautiful and incredibly spacious. We felt utterly at home and loved walking the grounds during the night. The hotel is right in the centre of the city, so it's a great base to have when exploring the town. It was also quite empty during our stay, so we felt very well attended to. We were thoroughly impressed by the diligent and caring staff at the Raj, especially Narendra, who worked in the coffee shop. We had some difficulty with a cab company, and Narendra, having overheard our conversation, went well beyond his role to ensure that our car arrived on time and that we were safe on our drive to our destination. He gave us his personal number, and told us to call if we ran into any trouble. He also spoke with our driver before our journey to confirm that we wouldn't be unwittingly taken to any shopping bazaars or pressed for more money on arrival. We both felt confident that Narendra would help us out if we ended up in any trouble, and we were very touched by his concern. He turned a miserable day into a positive experience, and we're very grateful.

There's markedly less security at the Raj than at other "luxury" hotels; our taxis weren't scanned for bombs or weapons, and the security gate was always slightly ajar. The absence of bag scanning machines and security staff was noticeable, and did leave us feeling a little vulnerable. The area immediately outside the Raj isn't the best and is blanketed in tourist shops. There are lots of touts who'll approach you as soon as you enter or leave the hotel with offers to drink at a cafe or buy trinkets. Ignoring them is the best approach, but it can get tiresome.

It is a former maharajah's palace from the 18th century. The splendour of bygone days is still palpable. The whole complex is very spacious, sumptuously furnished and like an oasis in the hustle and bustle of the hectic city. The staff is very friendly, courteous and helpful (for example, they organised train tickets for us, which is quite a difficult task in India). The whole hotel exudes the charm of an old grand hotel, you feel a bit transported back to a bygone era. The rooms are spacious, the breakfast is rich (you choose à la carte, there is no buffet, which we found very pleasant). The pool is located in a small courtyard, where you are mostly alone. The hotel is very centrally located in the centre of Jaipur; for example, the City Palace is only about ten minutes away by taxi. We can fully recommend this hotel. Despite its size, its history and heritage make it a far more individual travel experience than comparable hotels in this price range from larger hotel chains.

The wifi does not work equally well in all parts of the complex.

Location was excellent! The whole place is gorgeous! The food at the restaurant is amazing and the staff there, was super friendly! The staff at the front desk especially Dharmveer and the guy at the door were AMAZING!!! I can’t say enough about them! They helped with EVERYTHING we asked for and always with a smile! Came with us to the atm, helped us with our transfers to and from the hotel, which was difficult because the day of our arrival all the main roads were closed! The guy at the door (i wish I remembered his name) always greeted us with the biggest smile and we can honestly say we will miss him!! We will definitely return♥️

Wifi was poor in the room but everything else was so perfect that it doesn’t bother you that much! You can always find good signal at the restaurant area!:)

Beautiful property, very tastefully decorated, very unique and memorable place. The room was spacious. All the staff were very attentive, really flawless service.

Although the place was lovely, it probably didn’t quite live up to the price we paid for. No wonder the place was quite empty, despite being high season in January. Also note there is no lift, so might be an issue for anyone who can’t do stairs. The spa was not such thing. As the place is so beautifully decorated, had my hopes hight that the spa would be a very special place, but it was a horrible plain room that looked more like a school nurse room. Thankfully we visited before booking, so we passed. A little annoyed at having the pupeteer man pushing to sell things at the hotel. It’s quite a hassle being in Jaipur having everyone pushing you to buy something at every step, but when you arrive to the hotel you just want to relax and not being hassled yet again.

-good location near to most attractions and specious room and bathroom. -amazing food in the restaurant , we had breakfast and dinner there and it was delicious.. -clean and the staff were friendly and helpful.. -I like the idea of staying at old palace to feel that my journey to Jaipur is completed, I love the ambiance of that old period..

- missing a coffee machine in the room (but most of the hotels in India don't offer that option) - there was a (dove soap )in the bathroom, this was a little shock for me.. I think they need a new and better quality toiletries..

Old palace converted into a hotel but has kept many of the charms of the palace including dining hall with large table, chandelier, cutlery, etc. Grounds, stairwells, and balconies speak to the same charm. Location is good, close to Hawa Mahal and Jantar Mantar. Overall a very satisfactory stay.

We were challenged by the lack of outlets in the room, other than that while the service is good it is not as polished as the more established 5 star hotels (Taj, etc.).

The rooms were impeccable, the property was mostly empty and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel at home. The single best stay I’ve had in India so far. Don’t miss out on the kebab platter at the Swapna Mahal restaurant.

Absolutely nothing. Everything was insanely good, well prepared and far from gimmick-y.

Everything and we mean everything. The hotel is more beautiful than the pictures can show, the staff are warm, attentive and brilliant at their job and the tranquility offered in that heart of Jaipur makes this a truly special place. The Raj Palace is genuinely our favourite hotel we've ever visited and we were sad to leave.
