Now that the Mayfair Group has 14 or more hotels located across 11 or more cities/locations, it is time for some serious introspection for enhancing the service quality dispensed by its staff members. Quality of service should be concomitant with the high quality of the infrastructure of its hotels and resorts. Something like The Oberoi Centre of Learning and Development that's dedicated to training and developing its own people, should be given a serious thought.

The staff members were all very courteous and well meaning individuals. Several of them stood out. But a five-star property requires more than just that in order to really, really stand out. That subtle element which you would find in an Oberoi Hotel or The Trident was missing. Though that would be perceived by only a handful of discerning residents, it still is worth the effort to relentlessly strive for service excellence.

- the evening tea stall set in tea garden with free chai and pakoras included in our stay - clean gym with good equipment - huge property with everything you need on sight - easy distance for bagdogra airport for early next day flights

- process of booking airport shuttle cab was a little difficult. Messaged through booking.com where the hotel provided a number. On calling the number the person spoken to was trying to give another number to do this. This went round and round for a while. Eventually booked at the hotel which was simple. Cost of the transfer was on higher side

I stayed at this hotel on my way back from Darjeeling, and it was a very good decision. The hotel is really beautiful and is surrounded by a tea garden, allowing me to take a morning walk through the tea garden, which was a beautiful experience and highly recommended. The room was spacious and nicely decorated, the staff were helpful and friendly, and the food was good.

I booked a room with a jungle view but got room with a view to a roof (see attached picture). There was some repair work under my room, all the evening a man worked with a hummer which was noisy and annoying

Really well done up property ; exudes oppulence ; extremely well maintained; excellent choice of cuisine; elegantly designed hallways ; truly a luxe experience sans the few small but fine glitches.

Turn around time for service requests was too long for the standards being set by the hotel itself in other quarters. House keeping service were really not upto the mark; In room dining took too long to deliver. I was told that 5 - 6 orders are already on the cooking line so it will take 45 mins to deliver. Not a likeable standard to achieve higher degrees of excellence in hospitality.

I found the staff charming and always eager to please, even though I'm not sure they understood all our requeasts and sometimes things seemed to take a long time to happen or be misunderstood.

I was not entirely satisfied with the laundry. Explanations, such as how to watch the film about tea (which I enjoyed) were not clear. Room keys failed with monotinous regularity.

Sprawling property right inside a tea garden with nice views. Though all rooms doesn’t have unobstructed views. The breakfast has a good spread and would satisfy more or less everyone.

Food menu definitely needs to be worked on. Western classics are not western at all. Dim sums are not up to the mark. It’s definitely not worth the money. Staffs are well mannered but needs proper training.

For a short stopover it was enjoyable, nice tea plants around the tea estate. The hotel is quiet and has a quite nice swimming pool to relax. People who have an interest of tea, will be happy to stay there.

For a stopover it was enjoyable, however, nothing around the tea estate. To stay longer to rual. To get to the airport is difficult, the hotel isn't very helpful. The hotel wants to sell their overprised on transportation. Pain in the ash. Made me very angry as the hotel and management tried to take advantage of me. Very poor!

The bright lights, the sounds smells of Siliguri left behind when we entered the oldest tea estate - Chumpta. We felt transported. The quiet, warm glow of Mayfair was just what we needed. Polished marble floors, the fragrance of dhoop in the lobby. We were soaking it all in whilst Pradeep handled a bigger family. The antique clocks, quirky weighing machine/ balance.Checkered floors, statues adorning the corridor, beautifully upholstered furniture, a wall to wall fabric coated elevator.PS: May be they forgot to do the welcome experience. Our Stay: We had booked for the attic rooms. The room had twin beds(probably they may have run out of double beds) and the most interesting part was the bathroom had a fan. A lot of thought had been put into designing this room with the right amenities including a chair to sit whilst the rain shower did it’s job. Housekeeping had done a thorough clean to ensure that we had a great stay. Housekeeping as always very discreet service, however we knew they were there constantly cleaning finger or foot prints.Tea Pot: Most enthusiastic team of Sahil, Suraj, Laxman and our server for the evening Sathya ( the gentleman from Orissa) were fabulous. The food was another level tasty and almost like home. The chefs are extremely skilled and talented to be so thoughtful despite of being used to quantity cooking.A box office: I found this extremely delightful. Thought we did not use this. A small 14-20 seater theatre armed with lazy boys and a small screen to keep the couch potatoes entertained. Hridaya the security on rounds insisted I watch the other half of the movie, I was tempted however it would have kept me away from the new happening bar that they had just opened by the pool side.Dont miss the Vintage Car in the Bar. Chef was right. There was miles of food till the eye could see. Each tastier than the other. Mani our driver who dropped us to the airport knew all the in roads which got us to the airport in less than half an hour.

It was a short stay, we loved the entire experience.

The property was incredible. The amenities provided in the hotel is indeed wonderful. It is ideal for a weekend getaway The food is exquisite and full of variety. The staff was courteous and helpful. I would like to mention Chef Monisankar who was friendly and helpful. He is skillful and attentive to the particular needs of the guests .His lip smacking and succulent dishes made our stay memorable.

Nothing.

The interiors of the place was fascinating. I’ve been to the property a few times but I’m always amazed by it.

Although I had booked rooms with breakfast included, for some reason the system showed that I had booked rooms with EP plan. I had to pay for the same. Also, I had requested for rooms closer to each other. The twin bed room was on the other end of the property than ours. That was a bit inconvenient.
