All the staff were very friendly. Including the restaurant The spa and pool facilities were excellent. Room was quiet and clean. Breakfast was excellent great choice of fresh fruit and grilled breakfast.

The only criticism we would have of the whole hotel would be the restaurant. The first night we ate in the bar and was good value. On our second night we ate in the restaurant. In our opinion the menu choice was only fair. The plates were cold for the main course, portions were small , a serving of vegetables was put on the table to share between the two of us. There was only one small head of broccoli about the size of a golf ball to share. For the money we paid for the meal it wasn’t good value and when you consider the effort that goes into the running of rest of the hotel it was a shame. We would return to the hotel but not to the restaurant

I would like to say Lucian made our stay extra special. We attended the cocktail making class, and his attention to detail and his knowledge deserved 5 stars. He is a real asset to your hotel team and makes everyone feel welcome. He is so friendly and just has a great way of making people feel comfortable. We met him in the bar later, and he lit up the bar with his chat. He has such talent. I hope it is appreciated as a manager in the service sector I know staff like him are one in a million.

We had a lovely bedroom in the Retreat section. We stayed 4 nights not three. 27-31 October. I originally booked 3 from 28-31 October nd decided to go for 27th as well. This booking wasn’t updated and I found ths stressing having to explain all the time!

Room wasn’t properly cleaned. The seat of the toilet was stained - I had sanitising wipes do sorted it out. Underneath the bed was a receipt dated 12 October for meal in restaurant. Obviously not cleaned very well. Taking GREEN policy too far

Stayed in a Lake View Room. Very clean. Very comfortable bed. Spacious Bathroom. Lunch menu in bar is very good and we had delicious dinner in the restaurant in the evening. Great facilities at this hotel. Good location, overlooking lake and only short drive from Athlone town centre . Ideal lication for my business meetings, as midway between Dublin and Galway, so business during day and can enjoy overnight at hotel to relax. . Green sustainable practices are evident and important

Water in shower was not hot, so was luke warm shower Breakfast was not bad, but could be improved, so personally I did not enjoy the breakfast.

I stayed here the night before a conference in Athlone with a friend. The location is beautiful opposite the water. We ate in the waterside bar in the evening and ate breakfast in the morning and both were very tasty. The room was very good value too. All of the staff were lovely.

The room was very warm at night with no air conditioning.

The staff at this hotel are just absolutely fantastic, we couldn't have felt more welcome. The food was delicious and the buffet breakfast was generous with a huge variety to choose from and well-work booking. There are loads of small areas around the property that you can sit and have a coffee or read a book, a gorgeous place to stay.

The pool in the Leisure Centre was freezing! Even the Jacuzzi was a cold water pool which was a shame. The "Retreat Lakeview Double room" has just partial views of the lake and while this was advertised, the pictures are a bit misleading and we were only able to see the lake when standing up next to the window. That being said, the room was very lovely.

Breakfast was good, a bit chaotic in terms of tables left dirty then only being cleaned when needed. But staff were lovely and food was excellent. It was a great way to start the day. Dinner was lovely in the restaurant - good service, delicious food. The location is breathtaking regardless of the weather. Housekeeping were invisible in a good way. The hotel is spotless and my room was very comfortable. Any of the staff I met with were genuinely interested in what they were doing - they were courteous, knowledgeable (checked if they needed to) and pleasant

Carparking was crazy trying to find a spot to park in. Signage for EV charging and disabled parking were poor. Bar was noisy but atmosphere was good. Bar menu was limited and alot of food had chilli and/or garlic in it or on it

The rooms were lovely and lovely view of the bay. It was our last day of a 2 week road trip so we didn’t venture out of the hotel much.

The pool was more like a community pool and you had to wear a hat. For the price we were hoping for a more spa type pool. We rang for an extra night which was a phenomenal price without breakfast as it was a Friday. The walk and cycle path were behind a locked door, a little walk away from the hotel. I can’t put my finger on it but something didn’t quite gel.

Large hotel on the outskirts of Athlone. We had a deluxe double room in the adults section and it was large and spotless. We ate once in the bar and once in the restaurant and the food was good value for the price. Staff work hard and are friendly and polite. Thought the breakfast choice was outstanding.

Not many disability spaces and they were a distance from reception. The hotel needs a bar area where people can go and have a drink as on two separate occasions when we wanted a drink prior to eating we were told all the tables were needed for people wanting bar meals. You may also have to queue to get a table for breakfast.
