Very good location just outside the ZTL but still a walking distance from the main sights (abt 15min walk). Pool and air conditioning in the room were nice on the hot July days and the service always friendly and professional. Nice to be able to eat breakfast in the garden.

The pool was ”full” both days when we stayed there and the staff needed to check if we were allowed in. This was solved as we just wanted to swim, not lie down on the sun beds. But book your place early if it is a hot day and you wish to spend time by the pool. The cleaning was done very late so we had already returned to the room from the city tour when they knocked on the door and said it was the only time to get the cleaning (they couldn’t come back later). Not a big problem but something you wouldn’t expect in the four star hotel.

rooms were clean and staff were very friendly and helpful. the aircon was essential and was very grateful it was already on in my room for arrival in the hot weather. pool was lovely too

the surprise a few days before my trip that using the pool had an extra cost. there was also often only one member of staff on dealing with reception and the bar. i had to wait about 20 minutes for my drink to be served as someone else went to reception and distracted the staff member

The property was stunning, very comfortable, with a big bedroom and super comfortable large bed. The staff were very friendly, the breakfast was great with so much choice. The pool area was perfect and very pretty. A little walk from the centre of town but it was a quiet location.

The toiletries could improve. The soap was too small and it would have been lovely to have a little bottle of shampoo and a bottle of conditioner.

The room was spacious and clean, AC was working, staff was very friendly and nice, breakfast tasty (great scrambled eggs, cheese, croissants, coffee, etc...a little something for everybody), shower good pressure and spacious. Area is secluded in a nice way, a lot of vegetation that helps when is very hot outside. Pool was great and spacious enough. Nice drinks by the pool. Very close to the hotel there is a Carrefour express store to buy if you need anything else. The centre/ dome is about 15 min walking away. They were nice and we could let our luggage at the hotel after checking out for some hours.

The fact that we had to pay to have access to the pool (not mentioned when we booked). They overtaxed us for full day instead of half day. A full day for 1 person is 15 euro. Not having any vegetarian/ lactose-free milk option for coffee.

Lovely old building with nice garden area and courtyard, The staff were helpful and friendly especially Armilio. Rooms and bathrooms were very clean and tidy,

TIP.... If travelling to Italy in Summer, check with the hotel if they have their A/C turned on before booking....they all say they have it but 2 out of 4 hotels we have stayed in so far haven't had it switched on. The air-conditioning wasn't switched on in this hotel and the room was so hot but they gave us a fan which helped. They charge $30 NZD per person to go around the pool area even just to sit in the sun and if you happen to be touring in a car like we were, be prepared to pay $60 NZD per day for parking in the courtyard.

Set back from the road, Hotel Royal surrounds a glorious garden with lemon trees, pomegranates and a magnificent pool. It takes only a few minutes to be amongst the glory of Florence. San Lorenzo food market is a great first stop for refreshment and then onwards. When it becomes too hot, retreat inside the garden by the side of a romantic pool. Totally quiet, private and refreshing. Just what you need before you head out again for the evening. The staff were all super friendly and helpful and created a relaxed atmosphere. Marina at reception was especially helpful and kind.

It was really nice and fun to stay there 5 nights. Private park place, swimming pool, breakfast, fascinating location of hotel, very kind staff from restaurant to the reception. It takes about 10-15 min to walk to Duomo, Uffizi, Academia etc. The pool, the room, the restaurant were very clean. There are Sky channels on TV, so as i could watch Formula 1 on weekend, although it was not a must. Florence is in anyway beautiful, we could complete this beauty by staying in this historic Hotel. We wished we could have more time to stay there. Thanks!

Absolutely beautiful hotel in the heart of Florence (10 min walk from centre) but also feels very private. Stunning grounds and pool area. If you are looking for more of a luxurious stay ideal, bed was comfortable. Room cleaned daily and staff all helpful. The breakfast was 10/10 so much choice of cold and hot food, coffee & juices etc.

We weren’t aware that you need to pay extra to use the pool and pool area- €8 for half day and €15 for full day, a bit disappointing as you are already spending £150 a night minimum for the room.

Staff are very helpful Beds and pillows are very comfortable - so many hotels fail on this basic Aircon was a blessing at it was around 38 degrees c during our stay It's not too far to walk into the centre of Florence and the main sights Good local cafes and shops for coffee / essentials

Not much choice for lunch if you are staying by the pool - but so many places to eat out it's not a problem You have to be aware that the pool and breakfast are extra - we did so were expecting it - and it was reflected in the upfront price so again not really a problem It's quite a small hotel (70 ish rooms) so lacks some of the facilities (spa etc.) of bigger places but we knew that when booking - flip side is that it's not a massive hotel with thousands of guest - which I prefer

I had a couple of days stay in Villa Royal together with my daughter. I recommend this hotel - very helpfull and kind staff, very clean in the hotel, nicely arranged. We stayed in winter time, so we didn't have a chance to enjoy the garden - but it looked really nice. The location was good - we used to walk mostly to the old town/ center, but there are bus stops nearby. This location was quiet. Breakfast was good, not excellent - due to small variety of warm options, but it was OK.

I was missing a small kettle in the room to make myself a tea in the evening after whole day of visiting.
