The best location! Free onsite parking, 24hr reception and the staff can speak English. The breakfast was really good, lots of gluten free options and also some lactose free yoghurt, real coffee was offered, perfect. The room I had was nicely appointed, with a window that could open that also had netting. I didn't have a view but I'm not sitting at the window all day. The room was cleaned everyday and there was a good selection of toiletries, minibar, a kettle and teas & coffee. I found the bed comfortable and there was a selection of pillows, I can't comment I always travel with my own.

The welcome from the staff as soon as you walk in the door is lovely. The hotel has a family feel to it, not like the larger hotels. It is about 8 mins walking distance to the city walls depending which entrance you use to the city. It is just outside of the walls so it is peaceful. The breakfast has the usual choices, cereal, yoghurt, ham, cheese, pastry’s etc.. and wonderful coffee. There is a nice bar which is very comfortable and a fitting size fi the hotel. The hotel also has a restaurant and bar attached from the outside. Food in the restaurant is really nice and a good price. The coffee shop/bar is open all day serving pastries right to beer/wine. I have stayed here before a few times, the first being over 20 years ago. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else.

Nothing at all

The location of the facility is one of the best possible, just outside the city walls but still in a more modern building than you would get inside. Breakfast is good, staff is very friendly and accommodating. Clean room although a bit on the small side.

My highest concern is with safety and both rooms we booked were with a very high and not marked step just after entering the bathroom. I almost fell down the first time I used the bathroom. If the step is unavoidable, it should be marked and also have a sign in the entrance.

Very friendly, helpful staff

The shower floor was a bit old and tired. We were in the deluxe double room and there was actually too much furniture. There was a black round wooden table and a large floor lamp that took up space. The room, for us, would have had more utility with more space if the hotel reduced the extra furniture. It was a bit hard to lay out two suitcases. Breakfast was good, but would have been better with some cooked eggs — fried or scrambled. (They offered only hard-boiled eggs.)

Location just outside the city walls was perfect and not so far from the train station. Check in very straight forward with extremely friendly staff especially Sonya. Room was clean and well furnished but a little on the small side for an extended stay. Breakfast was perfect and the lady serving was a credit to the hotel. Plenty of info and free bicycles was a bonus and really nothing to complain about.

We stay at the Albergo Celide regularly when going to Lucca to visit family. The facilities are very good; the hotel is extremely clean, comfortable and well appointed; everyone is efficient, helpful and very welcoming. The hotel is very conveniently located, literally just outside the fantastic walls of the town. Invariably, the staff is excellent, very helpful and pleasant. A special thank you to Sonia!

Close to the wall, free bikes to get into the city (which you can see from the hotel, a 10 min walk to get inside the wall). Property is very clean and well managed; staff was fabulous - went to the bar to get drinks to take up to the communal rooftop patio and the front desk had the drinks delivered up with complimentary snacks). Bed was comfortable, sheets and pillows were great, AC worked well. Washroom was slightly small but very clean with excellent fixtures.

Attractive frontage. Great location within walking distance of the city centre. Plenty of on-site parking, which the management said we were welcome to use even after we had checked out, if we wished to sight-see in Lucca. Extremely efficient and courteous staff. I asked for an iron and it was delivered immediately, together with an ironing board. They kindly made a restaurant reservation for us, and their choice was great. Lovely drink in the bar to end the day - an extremely generous Aperol. Comfortable bed and very good buffet breakfast the next morning. Can’t fault this hotel in any way and would certainly make it our first choice when staying again in Lucca.

Might try and afford a bigger room next time although the double we had was fine.

Non-Italian channels were not working on the TV Spa opening hours were too narrow (5 to 8pm) (they are only small issue and they did not affect our enjoyment of the hotel)

Our flight cancelled and they were able to supply rooms at very last minute. Arrived at 2.30am to be met with a very helpful member of staff who spoke excellent English. His help was perfect. Behind a fairly non descript frontage lays a perfect clean and amrt hotel. Not too big and not too small. Plenty of sitting around room, a terrace and rooms are well supplied (except no milk which surprised me as it is advertised as international) Otherwise all there, including slippers. Breakfast in the price and a good continental breakfast spread was laid out for those who wok in time (7am -10am) We had late check out, bags were stred for us while we wandered Lucca for the afternoon. They even ordered us a mini bus. Nothing was too much to ask it appears. Would happily stay again. Not cheap, but they supplied all and more than you would expect. Oh and the sheets on the bed were very very nice indeed.

No milk for my morning coffee in the room. And the lift that sunk a bit as you got in it.
