This is just an amazing property if you want to stay in a piece of real history. It's right in the centre of the town which worked fine for me because you get a real sense of the rhythms of the place. Even if it's historic, and beautifully and imaginatively adapted, it's also very comfortable, so that it's a real treat just to be in the room. The owners are really welcoming and gave very helpful recommendations about where to eat and how to enjoy Lucca. It was return visit for me, otherwise I would have said the place exceeded my expectations.

Nothing! For me, this was just the perfect place to stay. On this trip I stayed in lots of lovely places but this is the one I'll remember.

The location across from San Cristoforo is spectacular - right in the heart of the city. You are steps from the Torre delle Ore, San Michele, and amazing gelato da Piero. The rooms are unique, historic and funky (cupids watched over the bed!). The hosts are charming and helpful.

One person of our duo found the bed hard (two twins). The Wi-Fi doesn’t reach very well into the room. Be prepared to drag bags but that’s a given for a property inside the walls.

The guest house along with our amazing hosts, Alessandro and Alice, was even better than the wonderful reviews we'd read. Our room was magical, with its view of the church across narrow street. The charming interior was hundreds of years old and we could tell by the bricks and floors and windows. However, the space felt spotlessly clean, like a modern building. The location was just perfect. We spent 2 nights, exploring churches and climbing towers and walking along the old wall. So many lovely restaurants and cute bars, just steps away! We so hope to return!

We had a beautiful room (Dante) and a fantastic location right in the middle of Lucca Old Town. Alessandro and Alice are wonderful hosts. Definitely worth eating at their restaurant L'Angolo Tondo...the food was Superb. We would definitely come back....to both :)

For me the bed was a bit too hard but for others it may be just right. The large window of this room opens out overlooking a bustling street and beautiful church which is great as it makes you feel you're in the midst of all the action and excitement even when relaxing in the room. At night however this can be quite noisy making it difficult to get to sleep. Also there was little soundproofing between Dante and the adjoining room so we could easily hear our neighbours talking....particularly if they got up really early in the morning. We would have also appreciated a complementary bottle of water each per day, not just on arrival.

The hosts were friendly, and exceptionally helpful. They even arranged dinner for me at a restaurant on my birthday and gave a great recommendation for another restaurant the next night. The location, right in the center of Lucca was superb and convenient to everything. They reserved parking for me and told me up front that parking is some distance from the room as the walled city does not allow access by personal car. They even sent me a text to make sure I made it to my next destination.

Nothing really. I fell in love with Lucca and L'antica Bifore.

We really loved the room, it was a unique experience. It’s like going back in time. The facilities were also very good. But the communication was great. The host was very kind to send us a very clear instruction. We didn’t had any trouble to check in and make our way into the building. They were very kind!

You can hear when people were on the streets chatting louder. I had some earplugs with me, so that helped.

Fascinating rooms set in part of a lovely and quirky old building. Central location was exactly what we wanted, and overlooked the buzzing street below and opposite church Chiesa di San Christoforo. Something rather cool too about entering through a rather anonymous looking old door on a busy street... Sweet hosts Alice and Alessandro were lovely and full of great tips and recommendations, and in easy touch on WhatsApp for anything.

There was nothing we didn't like about it, and would happily return, but to save anyone being disappointed do remember being so convenient and so central means it comes with the buzz of the city below so don't expect peace and quiet. We loved it!

Perfect location. Everything is on your door step! The room carried so much beautiful history, I loved all the details.

Traffic and street noise, which couldn’t be helped, especially late at night or early in the morning. Ear plugs were provided. However this wouldn’t deter me from staying here again.

Cleanliness and city centre location. Staff were exceptionally friendly. Choice of pillows and good linen. Eating recommendations excellent.

Location is city centre so you will be woken by noise of city coming to life, but if you are early starters like us, it just means you start your day earlier.

I loved the authentic Italian age of the property and the charming hostess.

I liked everything about the property although I could see that the pedestrian noise on the Saturday evening might upset some people. Take earplugs!!
