Our stay was nearly perfect. The room was large and clean with high ceilings and much charm. Our view from the balcony was spectacular. The hotel breakfast was very good in a comfortable room with a beautiful view. Dinner and/or drinks and cheese are offered. The hotel stood out as unique and memorable, in a rare combination of quaint and luxurious. Parking was free and handy. The only facts for guests to keep in mind are that there is no elevator and the walk to the hotel from town and the ferry is a few minutes up a hill. Neither of these are true negatives as the hotel would not be as special with an added elevator ruining the historic design or the peace and view of the location being affected were it right in town.

We were late arriving due to transportation problems. Hotel staff not only graciously accommodated our late arrival, they offered a late meal in our room as we did not have time to stop for dinner and local restaurants were closed. Their kindness turned the worst travel day in memory into a good feeling of being taken care of. The rest of our stay was very pleasant. Menaggio is a wonderful town, not as touristic as Bellagio and Varenna, so you feel like you are in Italy. The hotel breakfast is good. We took a day trip by ferry to Bellagio, which is lovely, and had a nice lunch. It was nice to be able to return to the hotel for a simple dinner. I wish we had a little more time to walk around Menaggio and to check out the local restaurants. It felt like Varenna did when we stayed there 30 years ago.

One of the best hotel experiences we have ever had. The hotel is a 10-15 minute walk up from the lake, but we had a great view of the lake from our room and Menaggio is a sweet little town.

Hotel Location in the hills, so the view of the lake from the Room Balcony was spectacular! (We enjoyed evening wine and morning coffee with this view) Hotel bar for drinks (eg. coffee & wine), and it was not too expensive to buy and take back to room. This was great as there wasn't any other options within a short walk for this. Room size was good, and the en-suite bathroom was big! Staff were very friendly.

No elevator (that I could find), so this is worth bearing in mind if you need one. Hotel breakfast selection didn't look big. It wasn't included with our room selection, but I'm glad we opted to eat out. The road outside the room was a little noisy during the daytime, but it didn't affect our stay.

The hotel is on the hill, with our room overlooking the hotel's beautiful garden which is full of flowers overlooking the lake. Stunning view really The location is also perfect, it is in Menaggio, a beautiful town on lake Como, which is a calm, laid back, and classly place (unlike other areas which are busy and noisy) where you can dine or have a drink by the lake.

Nothing. But note, the rooms do not have aircon, which was fine when i visited because the weather was crisp, clean and cool breeze, so i slept comfortably with the balcony door open. So check which season you are visiting and whether it becomes very hot.

Tidy hotel, in a lovely location, very quiet and a great balcony with views across the lake and mountains. We spend most of our time outdoors but the facilities were good, and dinner and breakfast were on offer and looked good (we ate out). Be warned the hotel location is about a mile outside of the main town and it's up a hill so a degree of fitness is required. The walk down to the town is via some cobbled steps, it's actually very nice, but not for platform shoes....

I think each room could really do with a small fridge for keeping drinks cool.

This is a lovely hotel a bit uphill from the lake. It is very cozy with nice views of the lake and mountains from the room. The room itself is very clean with everything you need. Bed is comfortable. Breakfast was simple but tasty. There is a place to park your car, so it is very convenient.

No air conditioner in the room. There is a ventilator but in a hot summer weather its barely sufficient. Make sure to close window shutters for a day so that the room is cool in the evening

Loved Menaggio - not as manic as Varenna or Bellagio. The hotel offered bar and restaurant facilities and had excellent staff. We had a fantastic room (11) with a balcony overlooking the lake. Excellent car parking and an easy walk down to the town for meals, drinks or the ferry. Walk back who the hill was pleasant but a bit more taxing. Really happy here.

A small fridge and tea//coffee facilities in the room would have been great.

The location is a bit out of the way, but a pleasant downhill walk into town. The staff is lovely and accommodating, and communicates well, whichever the language. I had a wonderful view from my balcony, and the room was clean & comfortable. Breakfast and dinner were great - homemade pasta was a highlight. And Paolo offered to meet me at the Ferry dock with my luggage, so I could make another excursion unencumbered. Way above & beyond the call of duty!

If you’re looking to be close to town, you might want to be elsewhere. It was great for me. Very quiet.

Great value with friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable if simple rooms and excellent food which was surprising considering it is rated two stars. Great views across the lake. It appears to be very popular with walkers.

It is located about 8-9 minutes walk down steep steps to the centre. If you have walking difficulties you may find it challenging. My wife managed it despite having broke her femur recently.

Staff went over the top to help us . Owner even gave us a ride to the ferry port Food at the restaurant for dinner and breakfast was some of the best I had in Italy, The rooms have lots of charm but have been tastefully brought up to date. Would stay here again

Nothing to not like. Just be aware that it’s a steep walk from the ferry port and bus stop. If you have luggage you really need to catch a cab . There is a taxi stand a very short walk from the ferry port ( to the right towards the square ) right in front of the bus stop that takes you to Como . Being a 150 year old property there is no A/C but this is lake Como and in early September the night time temp drops to the low 60’s so it’s really not needed.
