This is probably the best hostel my girlfriend and I have stayed in in Europe. The view from the room and restaurant was beyond amazing, we could not be happier. The staff, they are so welcoming, friendly and helpful, we could imagine how fun they would be in the summer. Close to the boat stop to explore the lake which was fantastic, also close to some very beautiful hikes. If you’re looking for a cost effective way to visit lake comp this would be the number 1 choice. Thank you to all the staff at the hostel for making our stay fantastic.

Amazing view from the dorm windows over the lake!! Nice free breakfast downstairs; cereal, juice, packet pastries, coffee etc. Super close to the ferry stop, and Menaggio a cute little town with some restaurants and a good big grocery shop. Definitely worth staying here for the price considering the great views, nice enough rooms and cheap/easy ferry situation (4.60 euros for adult one way ticket) to other Lake Como towns!

Toilets and showers were small, but pretty okay. No aircon in the room, just a fan. Tricky to access if you miss the last ferry home (you have to go through Cadenabbia and then a bus up to Menaggio, the bus doesn't come often in the evening though so a 40 minute walk sometimes instead) - but this has nothing to do with the property itself, just something to be aware of for time/transport organisation if you are staying here!

The hostel is in an amazing location. It’s literally a 2 minute walk from the ferry port and it’s right near the lake. You have amazing views from all rooms, we stayed in a room of 6 everyone was very friendly. The staff were very helpful and friendly, we ate there for 2 of the nights as the food was good and inexpensive compared to the other places in Menaggio. It had lots of young people and a very nice atmosphere plus cheap drinks. For the price it’s worth it, as the cost includes your bedroom, facilities, a free drink with every meal and breakfast in the morning.

Our room of six was quite small so it did get quite stuffy in there due to the heat. The beds were quite old and made of mental and made lots of noise when people would move and go up and down on the bunk beds. So if you came back late it was extremely hard to not wake others up in the room due to the noise. Also the restaurant is open to the public and there’s no communal space for just the people in the hostel, but we never found an issue getting a table. However due to there being no kitchen or communal space for just people in the hostel you do have to eat out every night or make cold picnic food like we did some nights. This is not the hostels fault as it’s a small hostel, however just a warning that most days you may have to spend money eating out.

The location is amazing! It is a 5 minute walk to the ferry terminal and less than 10 minutes walk to the main square! The view is incredible and you can walk directly across the road and down some steps to swim in the lake. The restaurant is very good and very cheap with a spectacular view! Easy 15 minute ferry ride to Varenna and 20 to Belaggio. For location and view, this is the best value for money I have found in Italy so far. I wish I had been able to stay longer.

The bathrooms are tiny with very low water pressure, the tap in our room hardly ran at all. but….who cares when you have that view!? 🤭

Location was good! A small (uphill!) walk from the ferry stop- a bit further from the bus station (although there are bus stops closer). Views from the front rooms and the restaurant are amazing! Very helpful staff- happy to give tips about local things to do etc too. The breakfast was OK- some cereals and milk, and bread and jam available. Also some small snacks in packets available too. Although we didn’t use it, the restaurant looked like a good sociable area with good value drinks and board games, music,etc!

As per previous reviews, the facilities aren’t great, but working well enough to be useable. Very small showers and water often cold, some of the toilets often broken etc. Each dorm has x1 en-suite shower and toilet, and then there are a few (approx 4) separate showers, and 2 toilets, out in the corridor. The bunk beds are all metal and quite old- mattresses and blankets are not great either- could do with an update! However, despite facilities not being the best, would definitely stay here again- the friendly staff, the good price and amazing location outweigh the negatives!!

I wasn’t expecting to find such a nice affordable place in that location! it was a great surprise. They are super well located, just by the lake and few steps away from the port. My bedroom had a view to the lake, just wonderful. There’s also a bar that stays open the whole day, meals are really good for an excellent price. Would definitely stay again and recommend this hostel! Made my trip much more fun!

not terrible but could be better: I stayed in the bottom on a bunk bed and the “ceiling” can really hurt if you hit your head on hit, which can happen since space is limited… maybe trying to cover that with something soft could help…

Lake Como hostel is wonderfully positioned by the lake with stunning views, within walking distance to the ferry and town. Friendly, helpful reception, bar, and restaurant staff, who provide a great service, with a solid menu for the budget conscious.

The add depicts an average bunk and mattress, which is exactly what you received, it is a hostel. However how much better would it be if the bunks and mattress were more than a basic stock. The bathroom plumbing also had an odour.

Great staff, smiley, good vibe and helpful if you have any questions. Accommodates everyone, families, younger, older, party people and the quiet ones. There is something for everyone and it's very welcoming. Unreal view. Not even a 5minute walk from the ferry and bus stop. The bedrooms, toilets and bathrooms are clean and I never had to wait to go take a shower. Good food, with some homemade options so it's even more delicious and good price deals.

Some of the showers are very sensitive. Either you freeze or you cook, so there's lots of dancing involved. Try different showers to see which one best fit you.

What an experience with the most beautiful sights and quality bar. The bar for my trip was definitely felt like a hub that enabled easy interaction with other guests a lively atmosphere, board games, football and more. This made it really easy to make new friends and go traveling around the little towns and hikes together. Bar closes at 10pm which quite often felt too early but understandable. But your in luck as there is a great bar 30 seconds down the road by the ferry port, many good nights (Friday night karaoke ;) rooms a nice and clean and the breakfast room is lovely but can get crowded quickly and has an awesome balcony. Staff were awesome and super helpful and even enjoyed a few rounds of poker.

The beds are very old metal frames and if your on top bunk it’s very load even the smallest movement makes a racket. But overall when I got into bed I was out pretty quick. Breakfast is not great but one huge plus is the the nespresso coffee caps you are given in the bag but that’s where it ends. But for 23 euro a night and breakfast included I was not fussed in the slightest. Overall the trip was one of the best I’ve ever had and I’m a frequent traveler and honestly the hostel definitely made my trip.

Thanks for having us. We had a brilliant and fun stay. The staff is super welcoming and accommodating. Ask for the omelette in the morning - it’s stuffed with cheese and is definitely getting out of bed for. €3.5 Prosecco and €4 aperols available to drink on a terrace with picturesque lake views, what’s not to like?
