Location and beach club excellent. Terrace bar with live music was good. Beach restaurant excellent. Great to swim from the rocks. Helpful staff generally.

Difficulty getting sufficient drinking water. Small bottles in the room, no other provision apart from ordering at the bar. Paper cups and Nescafé in the rooms, find your own milk. All a bit basic for a 5 star resort. Beach and pools don’t open till 9am and close at 7pm (bar even earlier). We found this a bit limiting if you want a pre-breakfast swim or a late afternoon chill out.

Amazing location and amazing staff in a historic hotel. I was accidentally charged for a room upgrade but was able to easily rectify the situation with hotel which reflected very well on their professionalism and client service.

We had a wonderful stay and we would stay again. It was very traditional, which may in some cases be seen as in need of an update but it did give a certain charm. Very good location as it's a 5 minute walk into town. The pool area although quite crowded (again very typical of Italy) it was great to have access to the pools and the sea. The views were also amazing. The bed was very comfortable and we had a fantastic view from our large balcony. The staff were helpful when we had any questions or issues. The shower head needed replacement and this was done on the same day! Eden roc was lovely for lunch!

Breakfast wasn't as good as we had hoped. Very basic options available. The bathroom (particularly the shower) is not up to a 5star hotel standard but it did the job once the shower head was replaced. Our room did not get wifi unless you were in the bathroom. We were given two other wifi codes but it was the same issue.

Access is not easy.

1.concierge services disk. The lady in the concierge services disk always busy with her mobile, if you ask her any questions, she will answer and look at her mobile . I would suggest that hotel open mobile support disk and ask the same lady to work on that disk, she will be the best. 2.some (not all, some) team members in the restaurant (break fast) : they need some training to understand that they are working in 5 star hotel with many nationalities, they need to be more Professional. 3. No transportation service to portofino (they will only call taxi)

The staff was amazing. From the moment we arrived untill we left they were so kind for us ans our son. On our second day of breakfast, they even took the time to cut and peel the apple of our toddler’s breakfast. The breakfast was good and dinner at Eden Roc was great as well.

With small kids the pool area is a bit dangerous; but the staff told us theres another pool worh also some grass that he could play on so that was fine. Maybe some playroom would have been nice, just something small. But honestly; nothing we did not like!!! Its amazing.

I very much liked that due to low season we were offered a free upgrade and got a spacious room with a balcony. I also liked the historical furniture and decorations. They are old and sometimes imperfect but still create an ambience. The breakfast area overlooks the small bay of Rapallo and is very beautiful. The selection of breakfast foods was good, even though somewhat smaller than in other five-stars. Perhaps due to the low season (but the price was also lower than in other five-stars). Salmon, melon were present as well as custom-made omelette (but you need to ask the waiter for it, otherwise you will not know that such possibility exists). There is an outdoor swimming pool overlooking the Mediterranean sea which is open during the day and seems to be free of charge for all hotel guests.

The main entrance is permanently closed for repairs. This is no problem when you arrive by taxi, but when you just go out to have a walk towards the town, you will have to descend or climb a pretty high hill all the way on foot. To take a boat to Portofino, you need first to get to Santa Margherita which is not easy: either a taxi or a 20-minute walk; there are some buses but they are rare and do not respect the schedule.

- bad value. 700 eur/standard room/night, no balcony. Seriously? - the hotel may have seen better days. Building needs refurbishment badly. The old decor and furniture are charming but also need some taking care of. - breakfast a bit hectic but with good choices for Italian standards

perfect views from the room, comfortable beds and bathroom was very clean

We have to wait for about 15 to 20 min while fried eggs or omelette are ready. The worst is that we were not able to get a taxi to the train station, however this is because of the D&G party in Portofino day before. but keep that in mind, we run to the station to get our train on time

Asked for room with view and balcony and got exactly what we wanted. Antique furnishings in room and throughout hotel are outstanding and give a feeling of great value. Hotel dining was excellent. Pools and access to the beach was quick and easy. Would stay again.

Great and beautiful hotel, with good breakfast and staff. Loved how my dog was welcomed there. Happy to come back!

There was no huge selection of cocktails (a classic like bloody Mary was missing). Despite my dog being very well received I don't understand why we can't take her to the beach for her to swim with us ..
