Located in a former palazzo, Albergo Chiusarelli is a fine hotel in Siena. It is close to the historic centre, and to the main bus station. I booked a “large single room” but was upgraded to a double, on the second floor, room no 28. The room is large and was kept very clean throughout my stay, so was the bathroom which was recently renovated in a very elegant way. Towels were fluffy, of good quality. The mini-fridge proved useful. Heating was plentiful and adjustable from the room. Breakfast was varied and of good quality. I extended my stay for another night and was promptly given the same rate. Renovation was taking place on the first floor, but it did not affect me as I left in the morning and returned in the evening. Siena is a splendid Italian medieval town that’s worth at least a two-night stay, and Albergo Chiusarelli is a cosy, useful residence for any tourist.

There were no vegetables at breakfast. TV was very small. There is no lift (given it’s a historic building), which may be inconvenient for some people, as floors are high (25 steps/ floor, roughly). Also note breakfast is served in the basement, so there are three floor to climb to the second floor from there. The personnel at the reception could smile more and be more accommodating, it does not cost anything.

The property is great, as always, very well located, with nice staff and comfortable rooms.

We had a clean, comfortable room with the most wonderful view over the old city. We slept very well. The hotel is in a great location for visiting the historic centre and the bus stop/terminal are nearby A kettle and cups were provided, as requested, but there were no wine glasses in room. However there was a fridge. We loved the exceptionally friendly and helpful reception and cleaning staff, especially Lorenzo, who helped with advice about trips etc Good selection at breakfast

One morning there was a photographer and her assistant with all their gear arranging photos during breakfast service, which made it tricky to get to the food without tripping over a tripod! There were crumbs on some surfaces in the dining room that didn’t move during the time we were staying there. Marble floors and thin doors meant that it had the potential to be noisy, though our neighbours were mostly considerate. There are lots of stairs (but this is made clear before you book) and wasn't a problem for us, as Lorenzo helped with our luggage

Plentiful breakfast provided in a nice dining room. Assortment of cooked and continental items were available. Well appointed quiet room and bathroom made for a comfortable 2 night stay. Within a few minutes walk of the main historic area of Siena with two large car parks nearby. The staff were friendly and attentive.

Loved the breakfast selection! We liked the separate area in the bedroom. Outside patio was lovely. Front desk staff during the weekdays were wonderful - charming and very helpful. Location was superb! Very pleasant hotel ambiance and decor.

Front desk staff during weekend were not helpful. Housekeeping were unable to provide us with procelain coffee mugs. 2 were provided in room for 4 adults. No drinking glasses - only plastic cups. Min fridge did not work. Telephone to outside line did not work. Sink in bathroom seemed clogged and when we requested unplugging were told it was the weekend and no help was available. Also the batheroom was extremely small. Hairdryer not impressive.

This hotel is perfect for visiting Siena, the location could not be better for walking Siena . The staff are very helpful and and have he answers to all your questions, where to go , what to see, where to eat etc etc The double room was small and comfortable , exceptionally clean with marble bathroom . Breakfast super with a selection of fruit , pastries, cereals, cheese , eggs and more . The whole stay 2 nights were very enjoyable and would recommend others to stay at Chiusarelli to add to your fabulous Siena experience and great value !

Nothing to dislike but maybe a kettle with a coffee and tea making tray would make the room even better

We loved the location. Only a ten minute walk to everything. Short taxi ride to the main train station. Comfortable, clean with a very nice breakfast.

The room doors seem to be thin. Not sound proof. You can hear everything outside. Not a problem though.

We returned to the Hotel Chiusarelli because of fond memories of a stay there 14 years ago. Friendly and helpful English speaking staff (reception staffed 24 hours) Great location on the edge of historical Siena, with good restaurants and a grocery store nearby. Room has a comfortable bed. Wifi worked well. Nice roomy bathroom with big enclosed shower that does not soak the floor. Small corner shelf for soap & stuff.

No signal on CNN(found Sky and France 24 in English for news fix). While nicely appointed, it is a typical European hotel that suffers from inadequate lighting and poor use of space: minimal flat space in bedroom and bathroom. There was no chair with back support, but a comfortable bed. No glasses, just flimsy plastic cups. No coffee for kettle, just tea; I planned for that and brought my own. Poor lighting. There is no lift, and the hotel is a labyrinth of stairs. Probably best for elderly or mobility impaired to request rooms on lower floors Staff will help with luggage if necessary.

Good location, literally accross the street from the central pedestrian area. nice quiet hotel with perfectly professional and friendly staff. Not a new hotel , but a well kept one. Nice private garage for 6 cars under the hotel - book in advance!

Not the hotels fault, but their position on the edge of the Environmental zone makes it very difficult to get there with a non electric car without getting a big fine for driving in the zone. The hotel sent us driving instructions but we were unable to follow them (our fault) and we ended up in the environmental area between 2 busses. Waiting now for the €5-600 fine! Siena definitly need to redo their signage and even change the colour of the tarmac leading into the zone to warn non Italien drivers. the hotel could even add a large scale map to their arrival info as Google maps does nlt show the zones.
