This was a perfect location for visiting Volterra. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful for our hungry family. Great towels and linens. Exceptional housekeeping. We enjoyed the open spaces where we could relax after long days. The parking was perfect for our large family van. The reception desk workers were always willing to answer questions. We stayed five nights and were sad to leave. This is a place we will return to. There is a small grocery store a short walk from the hotel. The in room refrigerator was very nice to have. The air conditioning worked perfectly and gave us relief on hot days. Thanks for making our family vacation a winner!

The great place to explore Volterra and its surroundings by car with family and dog. Volterra's historic center is within walking distance, free parking, plenty of space for walking the dog around. Surprisingly, when you enter the courtyard from the street, where the restaurant is located, you immediately feel that the temperature is a few degrees lower and the scorching heat is not so strong here. The room is spacious and comfortable, it is very convenient to rest in it after traveling around the area. Helpful staff, cleanliness, the atmosphere of an ancient monastery, especially in the restaurant, surrounded by ancient frescoes.

The setting in an old monastery is fabulous. It's definitely something a bit different from a standard hotel experience. Sitting in the courtyard garden surrounded by the old monastery building, drinking a cold beer is sheer perfection after a long day of cycling. One of the highlights of our bike tour of Tuscany.

It's a bit of a walk from the centre of Volterra and the road that was the most direct access to the hotel from the town was closed due to a landslide. We managed to navigate our way round this with some lifting of our bikes and panniers. The upside of this was that we decided to eat in the hotel restaurant rather than walk back into town. The food was lovely and once again a lovely al fresco setting. Breakfast is very good - the usual Italian offerings but of a good standard with fresh fruit, yogurt cereal, fresh croissants and even scrambled eggs and bacon.

Unsurpassed place. This is a very cozy hotel, in which I wanted to stay longer, the terrace in the yard enchanted me. The room was very spacious. also had a lovely hot tub. The room has a small table and a refrigerator. Breakfast buffet, you could choose many dishes and drink delicious coffee from the machine. There is a parking lot on the territory, but we were driving very late, there was no free space, so I parked on the road. It takes 20-30 minutes to go to the city, if you drive to the center, parking in the center is 2€/hour

Everything! Very friendly staff, the building was beautiful! The family room was huge and spotlessly clean. We stepped out onto the beautiful courtyard and when looking around there was beautiful artwork and another courtyard with tortoises wandering around ❤️ 😀 The food was really nice and the location perfect. We could park there for free and walk into volterra which was stunning, and the walk had stunning views all the way. We would stay there for a whole week!

Beautiful converted convent with cloister gardens. We had lots of bicycles which they stored in a locked garage, also they have charging stations for e-bikes. The restaurant food was excellant and fair price, it was great to buy drinks at the bar to chill in the gardens. Rooms are quite large, high ceilings. Good breakfast included too.

The hotel is a 20minute walk to the town but the tree-lined road is very pretty. I would have given top marks but the only small snag was some mosquitos in the bedrooms.

A lovely hotel: peaceful and very atmospheric. The staff were lovely and very helpful. We had my mother with us, who is disabled, so we ate in the restaurant each night, The food and service were very good. There was plenty of parking. The rooms were spotless and with plenty of space. We would definitely recommend.

The air conditioning and hot water were a little unreliable at times, but not enough to spoil our holiday. Some fresh fruit at breakfast would be nice.

Really nice helpful staff, excellent location, characterful building, good value for money. This is a great place to stay, with nice rooms and particularly relaxed staff. We had a late arrival and the lady on reception couldn't have been more accommodating.

Biggest issue by far was mosquitoes - both myself and my son suffered numerous bites in the room, even though it was end of October (although the weather was exceptionally warm) - definitely bring some repellent. Breakfast also could do with some actual juice (even from concentrate) plus perhaps a little fruit, although it was otherwise good.

The whole staff was so kind and considerate. They took their time to answer all questions. The breakfast and dinner options were delicious. Volterra can be reached in around 20 min by foot, the staff has a brochure that helps with the directions. The rooms are spacious and clean. All in all, one can only recommend staying at the Chiostro.

Room was good size for 6 people, 2 double bunks and 2 twin beds. Front desk is very nice

There is some kind of pump in the room next door that runs on/off 24/hrs a day. I use earplugs but it is annoying. It is a 15 minute walk uphill to the city, again this didn’t bother me.
