Outstanding location. Really, the best possible in Kyoto - easy walk to Gion District sights, 5 minute walk across the bridge to Pontocho, 15 minutes to Nishiki Market, and literally a block to train (Nara, Osaka) busses and subway (all of Kyoto). Lobby is beautiful, staff friendly, professional, and fluent in English. Free 24/7; coffee machine (latte, cappuccino) in lobby is a wonderful idea and greatly appreciated at a jet-lagged 3:00 am!

The rooms are small, but that’s Japan.

Our 3 day stay at the Dhawa Yura Kyoto, was excellent. When we wanted to go to tourist locations the staff had a drawer full of detailed information in our language, they provided making every excursion including bus and train times and locations, easily manageable. The open common areas were even more favourably highlighted by the bamboo stand growing from the lower ground floor up to the ground floor sunlit ceiling. The very competent multi lingual (particularly English) staff at reception created a nice flurry in assisting everyone very promptly. They provided larger currency note breakdowns for commuting etc,.Their breakfasts were to die for, with the chefs providing personal service to all guests, the tea and coffee breakout room was great and being next to reception, as thoughts came to mind, the eager staff were on hand. Our room was spotless, the proximity to trains, buses and the main street were all within an enjoyable short walking distance, the Wi-fi and charging points for all our battery stuff (including mobile phones), and the little section near the window for an extra suitcase was brilliant.My wife commented on the slippers and quality of the bathroom personal items, you know like shampoo conditioner etc,. And the bath robes and towels were a good size.The fridge was cold with space to store your own cold goodies and the tea and coffee room facilities, good as well. They sent our luggage to our room on arrival and timely organised our cab on departure. The bill was exactly the sa.e as they had quoted us more than 6 months previously. This place just has to be on your list of most enjoyable stopovers.

Style, location, coffee corner

The location of the property is excellent - a few minutes walk to Sanjio station (right outside the hotel), a 10-15min walk to Gion and right across the river is the main shopping district. You can easily get around either by the subway or local buses. Highly recommend this hotel for the convenience of its location and the room is huge compared to many Japan hotels.

Location great 2 minute walk from Sanjo Keihan station. Lovely modern hotel, impressive foyer. Room very comfortable, spacious shower, espresso machine, slippers, pyjamas, dressing gown. They also served complimentary hot drinks near reception so we would avail ourselves of these plus the free sweets / snacks. Staff lovely, spoke good English and were helpful. Loved the area, close to the river and station, lots of cafes and restaurants on your doorstep. Short walk to main shopping areas and Nishiki market.

The lighting in the room, all high tech but could have done with improved lighting near the full length mirror just inside the door ( could be an age thing though). No iron or board in the room which meant you had to request one, not a problem but would have preferred one in room.

A lovely little small hotel. The rooms were wonderful. I requested a quiet room and got one that was not facing the road. There is a huge window (almost the entire width of the room) and wooden blinds. Its was nice to just sit at the window when I was in my room. Even though this was a resort-type setup, the lighting in the room was on par with the very best. I was surprised by how much lighting there was. This really enlarged the space which had dark laminate flooring, which was a nice touch. Location was great. Keihan-Sanjo station to Osaka right next door and Kawaramachi station for Arashimaya a short walk (arrive early at Arashimaya and beat the crowds). Aircon is modern and effective. Controllable in 0.5 degree increments. Great rainshower (i prefer rainshower to a tub). I stayed 3 nights and did not see any families with young children at the hotel.

Hotel may need to include in instructions/advice to guest: the room floor is a hard laminate - please DO NOT drag furniture or heavy objects across it and the dragging can be heard clearly. Not the fault of the hotel.

Loved this hotel and would stay here again. Comfortable beds and outstanding showers. Best water pressure plus rain head shower. Provided extra amenities in the bathroom, i.e., razor, toothbrush & toothpaste, small hair brush, even a headband. The breakfast buffet was delicious each morning. Staff helpful with any questions/directions. Subway station close and easy walk to river.

Not much to not like... maybe a few more "western breakfast" choices? But honestly, the buffet would suit almost every taste (I'm a picky eater).

The staff was very attentive to our needs. Our queries were answered in a most satisfactory manner, whether it was about how to get to a site for a visit, about the transport system or making our stay more comfortable. The hotel's location was near a train station and a bus interchange. Excellent.

Perhaps the view from my room would improve once the property next door is fully developed. However, we could still see the street and the scenery behind the buildings across the road as we were on the top floor (Level 5)

Great location right next to train stations on two lines making travel very fast. Easy walking distance to the Gion District and the Nishiki markets but many others also. Really great breakfast with a good selection of food - options changed daily for some things for those liking variety. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The rooms were modern, clean and had everything we needed.

Great location for walking and transport, the room was quiet, the breakfast was a good mix of choices, and the staff generally were friendly and helpful. My friend had a health emergency during our stay and we are forever grateful for the assistance that Rekha especially and also the guy on duty provided. Their quick thinking, care and assistance meant that everything turned out ok. Thank you!

All good except the light switches are a little challenging.
