Hotel is just opposite the Nikko station, which is very convenient if you are visiting Utsunomiya or come from Utsunomiya. You can take the buses from this station too. It is about 3mins walk from Tobu Nikko station if you are taking a limited express train from Asakusa.

There's no shops or restaurants near the hotel. It is so quiet after 6pm, not many people will walk past this hotel in the evening (maybe cause we were there in July, not peak season). The nearest restaurants and stores are near the Tobu Nikko station and they closed very early, around 5.30pm. Have to walk further down (about 10mins) then you can find a restaurant for dinner. Been to the onsen thrice but never see anyone inside...haha. have the whole onsen to myself. Simple breakfast is included but they served the same food every morning when we were there for 4 nights.

EVERYTHING! THE STAFF, THE LOCATION, AND THE DELICIOUS BREAKFAST.😃😃😃😃😃😃😃

THAT WE ARE NOT ABLE TO CONTROL OUR ROOM AIR CONDITIONER.😂😂😂😂😂 THE HOTEL SETS THE CONTROL. AND BECAUSE IT'S CONSIDERED WINTER IN LATE MARCH, EARLY APRIL, THE HEATER IS TURNED ON IN OUR ROOMS. WHEN I COMPLAINED ABOUT THAT PROBLEM, I WAS TOLD TO OPEN OUR WINDOW AND TURN OFF THE HEATER. BECAUSE WE ARE PAYING GOOD MONEY FOR OUR HOTEL ROOM, I FEEL WE SHOULD BE GIVEN THE CHOICE TO USE OUR AIR CONDITIONER OR NOT. I TRIED TO EXPLAIN TO THE FRONT DESK ASSISTANT THAT I'M ASTHMATIC AND I TRULY NEED THE AIR CONDITIONER TO BE TURNED ON, THAT T'S CRUCIAL TO MY BREATHING, IT DIDN'T MATTER. SO, THANK GOODNESS OUR ROOM HAD A WINDOW THAT WE WERE ABLE TO OPEN UP.

Breakfast was good, but the anti-Covid measures being enforced for it - not only sanitizer (understandable) but also having to wear plastic gloves to handle food utensils, seemed over the top in May 2023. Nowhere else in Japan were we asked to do this.

Nothing, really.

THE AMAZING AND DELICIOUS BREAKFAST. THE WONDERFUL AND BEAUTIFUL STAFF. EVERYONE GOES OUT OF THEIR WAY TO ASSIST YOU WITH YOUR NEEDS. ALWAYS WORKING TOWARDS EXCELLENCE. 😀😀😀😀😀 I ESPECIALLY WANT TO THANK MICO, (ONE OF THE BREAKFAST STAFF) I MENTIONED TO MICO THAT I MISSED THE MISO SOUP THEY USE TO SERVE FOR BREAKFAST. (THE HOTEL HAD CUT OUT SOME OF THEIR BREAKFAST FOOD AND THE MISO SOUP WAS ONE OF THEM). THE NEXT MORNING AND OUR LAST DAY IN NIKKO, WHEN MY HUSBAND AND I WENT TO THE RESTAURANT TO EAT OUR USUAL BREAKFAST, I WAS SURPRISED WHEN MICO CAME TO OUR TABLE AND GAVE ME A PACKET OF MISO SOUP TO TRY. SHE TOLD ME TO PUT H0T WATER IN A CUP AND PUT IN SOME OF THE POWDER MISO. I DID AND IT WAS SO DELICIOUS. WHAT A TREAT!!! TO HAVE MY MISO SOUP ONCE MORE FOR BREAKFAST. 😀😀😀😀 THANKS TO MICO. WHAT'S MORE AMAZING IS THAT BEFORE LEAVING OUR BREAKFAST TABLE , MICO CAME BACK AND GAVE ME AND MY HUSBAND A BEAUTIFUL DECORATIVE BAG FILLED WITH MORE PACKETS OF MISO SOUP AND EVEN TWO BOXES OF JAPANESE CANDIES. WOW!!! WHAT A BEAUTIFUL LADY WITH A BEAUTIFUL HEART. (WE CALL THIS, ACT OF KINDNESS) 🥰🥰🥰🥰 LEAVING THAT SAME MORNING ON THE TRAIN AND THINKING ABOUT WHAT MICO HAD DONE FOR US, BROUGHT TEARS TO MY EYES. FOR A TOTAL STRANGER TO DO THAT "ACT OF KINDNESS" IS SO UNBELIEVABLE. IT'S A VERY RARE EXPERIENCE TODAY. MICO, MY HUSBAND AND I WILL NEVER FORGET YOU. YOU WILL ALWAYS LIVE ON IN OUR HEARTS. "YOU'RE ONE IN A MILLION ". MICO, TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH, IN ALL OUR YEARS OF TRAVELING, YOU ARE THE FIRST AND ONLY HOTEL STAFF WORKER TO GIVE US A PERSONAL GIFT. YOU SAID TO ME "IT'S JUST A LITTLE SOMETHING". NO MICO, IT'S NOT JUST A LITTLE SOMETHING. YOUR GIFT TO US IS WORTH MORE THAN ANY AMOUNT OF MONEY IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD. THAT KIND OF GIFT CAN'T BE BOUGHT. IT'S.

I CAN'T THINK OF ANYTHING WE DIDN'T LIKE. EVERYTHING WAS SATISFACTORY. A+++

Great value choice for big room. Very convenient location across the street from Nikko JR train station and 300m from bus station. The rooms are large, especially for Japan. With a desk and two fauteuils and a coffee table. A big bonus is the hotel’s onsen open till 00:00. Breakfast buffet is decent from 07:00-09:00 with also enough western options. Along the main street with most shops and restaurants a stroll away (one very good sushi restaurant immediately behind the hotel) and about 1.5km walking from the Nikko bridge, temple and shrines area.

The onsen is decent! It is a great option for family / group stay as it is close to the main transportation. It is just right in front of the JR Nikko station and 8-min walk to a supermarket. We are satisfied with the breakfast buffet! A variety of cuisine is included, from western to japanese. It kicks a good start of our long-day sightseeing in Nikko. The staff is helpful that even we have checked out. We found that we have left drinks at the room after check-out then we send a message via booking.com. The staff is responsive and help us keep the drinks at the front desk until we are back again to pick up the luggages by day end.

The hotel exceeded my expectation. Relative to typical Japanese hotel near train station, its room size is big, Location is great, just 5-minute walk from the station. For visitors who use the Tobu Bus services to visit the far off areas, the first bus stop is just opposite the hotel! Breakfast is good. And it has onsen (indoor and outdoor) which is great after a day trip!

The hotel might look a bit dated for some guests, But it was fine for my family. The room is clean, bed and pillows are comfy to sleep. Nothing else to ask for.

Fantastic location and spacious cozy and comfortable rooms. Plenty of towels and robes and slippers to go down to the onsen which was open until midnight! Perfect for a dip after dinner and before bed.

Two restaurants on site. An expensive kaseki which was totally booked out and a second one serving more western dishes. We ate at the second one. It was fine but seemed a bit overpriced for what we had (a very small thin steak) but options were a little limited as we arrived late on a Tuesday. Onsen walls looked like they needed a good clean (black dirt or mould on the white walls).

Centrally located right at the train station, it’s an ideal spot for the local exploration, with access to all public transport connected to your Nikko Pass. It’s a clean, cozy hotel, definitely best in the neighborhood. Offers comfortable, warm rooms, great breakfast buffet with both Japanese and Western options. We were happy to use the cute onsen from the hotel, the opening hours are long and you can even walk in with the tattoos, so that’s perfect. Beds are comfy, AC works perfectly too.

It looks a bit outdated since the hotel isn’t too new, but amenities are clean, so it’s no issue.

Nikko Station Hotel Classic is in a great location for JR & Tobu Nikko train services as well as the World Heritage Sightseeing Bus. The staff at the front desk were very welcoming, kind and informative and spoke very good english which we really appreciated. The room was cozy, clean and the amenities provided were of a good standard. It was a great place to stay after a long day of travel, the bed was comfy.

The rooms are very nice as they are, but perhaps a small refresh of paint or furniture could bring it to the next level. We would however definitely return.
