Ken was an amazing host (as all who have mentioned him before have said). Our family of 7 needed two different rooms at his place. One was inside the main house on the ground floor with separate living and futon rooms, and the other was across the way and included a downstairs and upstairs loft area. Ken and his wife were super helpful and offered us a tour, a map with restaurants marked out, information about the bus schedule, and even did some laundry for us. The space was super adorable and very clean and fresh smelling, and we really enjoyed our stay. It was a short walk to the buses and many adventures in the Nikko area. Ken even gave us a ride (2 trips for our group) to the train station the morning we left. Thanks for an amazing stay! We really loved our time in Nikko.
Nothing.

Our entire time at Stay Nikko was fantastic! To start with, we messaged the hosts on our way in from Tokyo just to let them know that we would be arriving a little later in the evening (around 8pm). When we arrived at the train station the host was there waiting to meet us. He took all five of us and our luggage directly to the property, which was helpful as we had several pieces of luggage. The hosts also gave us a great overview of things to do in Nikko after we arrived, including taking us through different maps and recommending different hiking trails. Throughout our trip they were always available to help with recommendations or answers to any questions that we had about the area. The units themselves were well taken care of and quite clean. The hosts even did a load of laundry for us on our second day (also quite helpful as we were spending several days in Japan with a stop in Nikko in the middle of our trip). Everything was perfectly quiet and relaxing throughout our entire stay. There are also plenty of places to go out for dinner that are within a 10 minute walk from the house. It was very clear to us that the hosts took a great deal of pride in making sure that their guests felt welcomed and enjoyed their time in Nikko. We would highly recommend Stay Nikko for anyone that will be traveling to NIkko.

Great hosts who went out of their way to make our stay very comfortable. Spotless house, quiet location, beautiful touches to make it feel homely, an awesome bath that stays hot and fills automatically- the best bath I have ever had! Hosts had information including timetables for buses, shows at edo wonderland at their finger tips. Walking distance - 5mins to bus stop and only 10mins tops to train station. Host also took us to the train station in their private car - very friendly, polite and helpful. Loved our stay and wish we stayed longer.
Nothing!

The host was incredibly kind, upbeat, and patient. Immediately upon our late check-in in our host, kindly helped us move our bags. Then, he proceeded to give us a lovely tour of the accommodations and a map of Nikko with tons of helpful tips and suggestions! The accommodations themselves were clean, neat, and clearly documented how to use them in several languages. Upon checkout, our host went above and beyond and helped us move our bags once again. We were incredibly delighted staying here as it had everything we needed, and our host was amazing.

The location is perfect for walking to the UNESCO cultural heritage sights, both train stations and buses to the mountain hiking trails. Central, yet perfectly quiet, in a residential area. To our surprise, we had a whole small house to ourselves, on the window sides surrounded by lush green shrubs and a Japanese garden. It was equipped with kitchenette and had a choice between western bed and Japanese futon bed. We took the latter, which was very comfortable. Our friendly host took exceptional care of us, giving us exactly the information we needed on the first evening for walking, eating out and sightseeing, including up-to-date bus schedules and other useful information such as opening times. On the day of departure he even drove us to the train station with our luggage. The stay was an outstandingly good experience.

Best hosts ever! I can see why this property is rated so high. I chose it over the local hotels. Ken was so generous with his time and so kind and patient. He speaks English which was helpful since our Japanese is limited. The little house was super clean, smelled fresh, was renovated, with comfy beds and a strong shower. We were here 3 nights, and he gave us good direction on avoiding crowds. We hiked Senjogahara, explored Kanmangafu abyss, explored the temples and went on a bike ride with NAOC. We also did Tobu World with all the miniatures plus Akebi onsen in Kinugawa. It’s a short walk from the station which was perfect. It’s been our favorite stay so far!

Kenji is an incredible host. Extremely helpful and nice, very knowledgeable and passionate about Nikko. He made sure everything was easy for us, and we are so grateful. The place was particularly clean and very comfortable, with everything one needs. It is also very well situated, central enough (15min by foot from the Shinkyo Bridge), but not where all the tourists are. I also loved the cat-theme vibes of the place ! There are some very cute (but shy) stray kitties who chill around the house. We loved our stay and would absolutely come back if we are ever in Nikko again.
If I have to find something, maybe the fact that the bathroom is not well isolated (in terms of noise). But it is quite usual in Japanese homes, where noises can often be heard. It is a very minimal downside to this wonderful country.

This is one of the most beautiful and comfortable stay imaginable. Stay here if you can!!! The host greeted us (out of checkin hours) with an immeasurable amount of kindness. We basically just wanted to store our luggage, but the already had the room(s) ready. First we entered a room which we thought, was some.kind of welcome area. Turned out it was our living room. Additionally we had a traditional sleeping room and separate bathroom/toilets. Their care for the facilities and love for details, made us fall in love with the place. They gave us recommendations on activities and even a lift to the train station.
There is really nothing to put here...

We had a brief but wonderful stay. Comfortable and spacious, great location close to town/trains/buses/food. The host were the best part. So kind and thoughtful. They provided us with so many useful tips for navigating the bus system, finding trails to hike, and making the most of our time in Nikko. Nikko is a great destination for those seeking a mix of Japanese history/culture and beautiful nature. If we return, and I hope we do, we would certainly stay at this location again. Thank you!

The house had everything we needed and was well located - close to the train station (short walk of max. 10 minutes) and to the main street where you find restaurants, shops and bus stations. We slept really well on the tatami mats and because it was so quiet around. The house had a lot of cute details, which we really liked and the host was just exceptional and gave us a lot of tips for restaurants and things to do. Overall it was a great stay!
