Very friendly owner, who personally helped to carry my luggage up to my room when I was out, greatly appreciated! He also kindly advised on locations for Dinner, considering most shops in Nikko closes very early. Room & toilets were clean and the showers included 2 private onsens, which were excellent to soak in after a long day. Lawson's is located fairly close by so no shortage of supplies there. Location is a great middle ground to access all of Nikko's attraction.

Location isn't exactly the most convenient to/from the Station - have to take a bus from Tobu-Nikko station and walk for 5-10 mins. It was especially bad on the way back considering the uphill path and having to use an underpass (no lift) to reach the opposite bus stop.

A wonderful spot to stay in Nikko. The location can't be beat -- walking distance to Kanmangafuchi Abyss and the historic Nikko neighborhood, and right by the bus stop to head to Lake Chuzenji in one direction or Kinugawa Onsen in the other. The private onsens are simply the best!! Vending machine drinks and for-sale snacks and ramen available. My room was well stocked. Staff were very friendly, and they even gave me a complimentary furoshiki (same print as the yukata) when I checked out, since I stayed so many nights--what a lovely keepsake!! When I arrived, I was given a map and an overview of the town, including the limited dinner options available, which I really appreciated. Plus, it all felt very safe. I hope to return to Nikko someday and will definitely stay here again!

Walls were a little thin, which I didn't notice until a rowdy group came in my last night. Also, I didn't realize breakfast was available to purchase until my last day, although that one is on me for not asking or looking around more.

Super cozy and spacious location - honestly exceeded expectations based on the pictures. The private Onsen room was also a wonderful surprise. The host (and his daughter?) were super accommodating of our late arrival time, leaving luggage while we explored after check out and made us feel right at home. The location is a bit tricky to get to via bus so I would encourage you take a taxi from the train station - reasonably priced. The river running outside your window at night will soothe you right to sleep after a long day of exploring the beautiful surroundings in Nikko.

The owners are delightful and made us feel right at home. They especially tolerated my joy of their dog! Our room and the inn were spotless, and we loved the location. The room had a space heater that kept us toasty at night, and we had access to a fridge, microwave, and hot water at all times. We bought the bus pass for our two days there and made great use of it for sight-seing north of Nikko. For everything in town, we walked. The inn is easy walking distance to the train and bus depots, and to the shrines and temple.

The bathroom setup was difficult for me as I have a bum knee, so both the step up and the large step into the tub/shower were awkward. I also don't function well with beds against walls, but that is just me, and I'm sure others won't find it an issue.

Friendly people at the front desk. They went out of their way to provide information and service. The lady at the front desk did a great job in reserving a cab for us. It's a quiet and quaint inn. It was right by the Daiya River, and you can hear the sound of waters rushing which was calming and therapeutic. There is cold water and hot water readily available. I did not need to purchase any bottled water from the convenience stores.

This location is not very accessible by public transport, which may be hard to get to if your family is traveling with luggage. The only bus stop is in front of a Lawson Station, which is about 10mins walk north of the inn. It can be a little difficult to know which buses to take if you don't know Japanese. The buses are not numbered (i.e. Bus 1, Bus 2, etc) and you've have to tell the buses apart by the location that the bus is going to. The three buses are "Yumoto Onsen", "Chuzenji Onsen" and "World Heritage", which are written in Kanji. We ended up having to memorize those characters and matching it by sight to know if we should flag the bus that is hurtling down the road in our direction ;)

The staff was extremely lovely and accommodating, even when I asked for an early checkout. They provided very detailed information on the temples around the area, suggested restaurants (I strongly recommend the Bell restaurant, their Yuba meal and Matcha cake were amazing!), and provided a nice touristic map to walk around. The room was adorable, it felt like living inside an anime, although it's very small. The futon (bed at ground level) was really comfy with two pillows, and it is placed on a nice tatami mat. Big traditional windows open up to the forest and river outside, with nice singing birds and gargling water, but if you close them the room is pretty much acoustically isolated. There is no private bathroom, but a toilet area which was extremely clean and had everything necessary. There is a private washbasin inside the room though, so you can wash your face, teeth and hair without going to the toilet area. A hairdryer was available, along with two towels, a yukata (light kimono) and slippers. It would have been nice to also get a toothbrush and soap in the room, but not a big deal. There is a TV and perfectly working air conditioning to make the room either colder or hotter (it gets pretty cold at night). Finally I have to mention the awesome Onsens. There are two, one bigger for two people and one smaller for one, and you can simply get in and turn the sign on the door handle from "Vacant" to "Occupy" (to the owners, if you're reading this, it should say "Occupied" instead!). The water is pretty hot, so you'll probably want to get out after around 15 minutes. The Onsens are open only until 11 PM so make sure not to miss it. You should get in with the Yukata only, and don't forget to bring towels.

I would have liked to also have soap, a disposable toothbrush (as I've seen it in other japanese hotels) and toothpaste inside the room, but it's not a big deal. There is soap in the toilet area and also in the Onsens. I can't think of any other issue, I really loved staying one night here.

The property is very cozy, clean, organised and with a peaceful environment. That is just by the river so we could sleep with the sound of it. I understand there might be rooms that may not be the same but the impression was that the majority of the other rooms were even closer to the river. There is also the Japanese bathroom which allowed us to relax beyond the expected. The location is really close to the heritage site, the famous bridge and also close enough to the town. All walking distances. Finally the staff, oh, I could not stress enough how kind they are. It was indeed a great experience.

Great location for visiting the shrines and temples. Quiet and cosy, old style and comforting. Free tea and coffee and use of tableware if you want to eat your own food. Friendly owner with great advice about where to visit and where to eat. Spotless shared washrooms. Great private Japanese style baths for a good soak at the end of the day. Easy access by bus from the station. I enjoyed the breakfast of toast, an egg, fruit, and coffee (not included in my room price); it was perhaps a little pricey but very convenient.

Nothing. I would like to apologize to the staff for leaving my bed so untidy: I lost something important and was really searching for it! (I found it in the end but didn't have time to make things tidy again.) I wish I spoke Japanese and could ask, why turtles?

The host is very friendly and provided plenty of suggestions for nearby attractions. They were also very thoughtful in sharing dinner recommendations in the area. The accommodation is conveniently located close to Toshogu Shrine and other attractions, all within walking distance. Of course, the room is very clean and comfortable, and you can even enjoy a bath. The accommodation has many adorable collections inside. The value for money is excellent!

Just great, all around 10/10. The bathroom was very nice and clean, and you could experience a japanese inn. The Japanese style room was large and comfortable, and it was warm during winter. The host was very friendly, and there are amenities for heating up food and making tea. The location is close enough to the world heritage centre and the bus stop.

Not the turtle inns fault.. there are not many places to eat dinner during winter. There is only the bell inn or lawson close by. Otherwise you could catch the bus into town. There are lunch places close by.
