The check-in was quick and easy. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere of the shared kitchen and living room was very comfortable. People would watch a movie in the evening together and several Mangas, WiFi, tea and coffee were available for free. The kitchen and bathrooms were clean. The guests were considerate of eachother and tried to be quiet. I had two power outlets in my space. There were small and a little bigger lockers available.
There were only curtains dividing the rooms from the corridor. So, it would be noisy when someone snored loudly. A sink was in the corridor as well though this was quite convenient. And you would hear the other person in the bunk bed move at all times. But this was expectable when booking. I recommend bringing earplugs, then it should be fine. At night I started to smell cigarette smoke at some point, maybe from the street.

This is a great, cheap option for mobile travelers interested in taking the train and walking through the neighborhood to see Nipponbashi, Tsutenkaku Tower, the zoo, etc. It has the basics that you need. If you get a room on one of the floors with lockable doors, you even have a lot of privacy.
There are shared bathrooms on every landing in the stairwell, but one is for staff and one is out of order, so it's really 2 bathrooms between 4 floors of rooms. And there are only 2 showers, which are on the lower levels. I don't recommend this hostel for anyone who struggles with stairs or shared facilities, and I do recommend using a nearby coin laundromat rather than using the free washer because it will be impossible to dry your clothes on the line or in your room if it rains.

Location was great, privacy of the room.
American reception guy was useless and rude. He was sleeping on the couch in the lobby every night with loud rain music, couldn't give any information whether directions or events, was playing his games on the phone without headphones. I asked him to use his headphones or turn music down and he made a big deal out of it. He lowered the volume first but kept it up just 5 min later. So unprofessional. Ppl like that shouldn't be working in hospitality industry. I feel bad for him representing US because it's not typical for American culture but I guess it depends on the level of your education. Extremely bad job, buddy.

I rate it especially highly because I got along with the people there. There is also a full kitchen (stovetop, fridge, storage/pantry, microwave, toaster oven, etc.). The staff actively cleans and are friendly. There is privacy, albeit with kind of thin walls. The dorms only have 2 people per unit and there is adjustable AC/heat in each one. The location is right next to Shinsekai, the main strip to walk towards Dotonburi, and at the intersection of several subway lines to get to any place otherwise. There are only a few bathrooms and showers for so many people, but never had a problem with them being taken up, and there is always hot water and toiletries.
There's no temperature regulation in the common area. There is also one room with some kind of water damage that smells horrendous even for a person walking past it. There is no elevator and it's about 5 stories tall, which would be kind of laborious for people on the top. It would be improved if the washing machine which exists was actually functional (i.e., it's broken with no plans for repair).

Convenient. Easy check in and near to train station
The room don't have door, just separate with the curtain. I not comfortable as one chinese man standing in front of my room, knocking. So when I asked him is there anything you need or are you in trouble? He just looked at me with silly face and went out. So I don't know what his problem Next morning upon check out day. He once again knocked the shower room. I just been there not more than 5 minutes. Haha. Maybe he kind of racist towards me. I don't know.

It's across the road from the train station. 2 stops from Namba. No curfew. You can sleep, shower, cook, workout, play musical instruments, computer games, board games. There's an Ozzy bloke happy to help you out what more do you want?
No downside.

Even though you have to share the room, is very private as you have curtains around your bed. Pretty good place to stay in Osaka for a few days, next to a subway station where you can take the Osaka Loop Line and go almost everywhere.

probably one of the cheapest stays in Japan and I could walk to nice shopping and bar areas of the city. all the basics I needed were provided so I had a comfortable stay.
like how other reviews mention I wished they could invest in maintenance of the place since it is showing its age and in more staff.
