nice location, friendly staff, has everything you need and is clean and well maintained
if you're a light sleeper and they put you on level 6 ask to change to a lower floor as the reception and common room are on level 7 so you will be kept awake until late into the night

Comfortable clean bed with good privacy. Good communal space and adequate kitchen. Very secure baggage storage
As other people have mentioned there is only one elevator and it is rather slow. But not a problem unless you really care about that. Tiny lockers in dorms but that is normal for a dorm / hostel.

The location is absolutely perfect. I stayed in a dormitory, and everything in the common areas was comfortable and very satisfying. I especially want to praise the staff for their excellent service. On one of the days during my stay, I accidentally left a ring in the room. The staff found it and immediately contacted me via the email I had provided when booking. I was able to retrieve the ring smoothly afterward. All in all, this is definitely a great-value accommodation. If I have the chance to visit Tokyo again, I will certainly choose to stay here again and recommend it to all my friends.

I really liked the location and staff. They were very helpful and they really took good care of us. The process of everything was fairly easy and quick. I also like the ambience of the common area. It was a Japanese tatami experience and thought that was pretty cozy. Not to mention the kitchen was super cute and clean!
I guess this is something out of their control, but I believe this place is not suited for families with young children. Yes, they do have their own space but as soon as they get into the common room, it might be uncomfortable for guests especially when they’re the type that’s young, traveling with friends or solo like me. Even thought we have separate rooms, I remember going in and out of my floor every time and hearing parents yell and hit at their children or children crying (not all the families do this). It’s not only bothersome but it pains me to hear children being yelled at or hit at was too much. And the families that are not so abusive tend to just let their kids run around and do whatever they wanted like running in the common room.

Fun, Social Stay at COGO Ryogoku – Great for Groups We stayed one night at COGO Ryogoku, which is part hotel, part hostel — and a very cool, social place overall. We had a private family room with three bunk beds — meant for a larger group, but it was just the two of us, so we had the entire room to ourselves. Given the low price, we were happy with the value — a lucky last-minute choice that worked out great for a short stay. The shared lounge area near reception is one of the highlights — a great space to relax, meet fellow travelers from all over the world, and soak in the friendly, international atmosphere. There’s also a shared kitchen and dining space, which makes it even more convenient for those traveling on a budget or in groups. The interior design is traditional Japanese, with warm wood elements and a cozy vibe — it definitely adds charm to the stay.
🚧 The only downside was the noise from the road outside — it was quite loud, and the window in our room didn’t fully close, which made it harder to block out the sound. That’s something worth improving. In short, COGO Ryogoku is a fun, dynamic place — ideal for groups or solo travelers looking to connect with others. We'd recommend it, especially if you're looking for a short and sociable stay in Tokyo

Loved how big the kitchen was. There were three different stovetops and cooking/plate sets. So multiple people could make food at the same time. Saved a lot of money on this stay cooking. Staff was exceptional! Seriously one of the receptionists spent about an hour and half with me going thru some difficult motorcycle rentals that I was trying to set up. So thank you Misaki for helping me finally get that done! You were a life saver. Location was good, very close to subway/train station.
Process was mostly smooth during my stay but I did get stuck out of my dorm room momentarily the last night I was there. Had to get help getting back in my room as it appeared the passcode was changed without me getting a notification. But everything was smoothed out and I was able to sleep easy after a short wait. Bewarned the lighting in the bunks are pretty bright. I didn't check to see if the light switch had multiple settings to dim it or not but the standard setting was a little intense at night so I usually just went to bed right away instead of reading.

I like a lot of things about the property. The location, the cleanliness, the sauna downstairs, the availability of a foot bath, the friendly and helpful staff, the availability of a workspaces, and a clean and spacious kitchen! And the fact that you can turn the AC however cold we want! It is a really nice place!
There was only one shower with every room so that was kind of cramped but luckily it wasn’t too big of a problem.

Staff were excellent, the facilities were perfect, and the location I found to be brilliant. This place has everything you need for a great stay in Tokyo, and you can get to both airports via public transport pretty easily from here!
No fault of the hostel, but if you're in a shared dorm, don't expect some people to read the instructions on the bathroom/in the bunks. Someone clogged the in-room toilet with too much paper on two separate occasions, despite signs saying not to use too much paper... Otherwise, really excellent!

The size of the two-bed room is very generous for the price! Location is a comfortable 10 minute walking distance from both Ryogoku stations (there are two stations operated by different train companies). Luggage storage is available at the reception floor at a competitive price.
Initially, we were unable to set our room aircon to 'warm room 暖房' that is, heater mode. Luckily the reception staff was extremely helpful, he did not know how to solve it at first but asked around and realised there is a central power switch he needs to turn on for us.

The beds were very comfy and the common area really nice and perfectly for dinner or lunch in the hostel. We’ve been there off season so the while atmosphere was not really social, maybe that’s different during season. It’s right next to the train station which made it really easy to get around Tokyo.
There was a lock for the dormitory but it didn’t work, so the door was open the whole time. But there are some lockers for personal belongings and they also store your luggage before and after check-in/out, which was nice.
